I'm not a mother, but I get this. I know deep down she meant well. She just lacks tact sometimes.
I haven't said much about your issues with your DD because I don't really know what to say. The fact that she nurtures her friends the way you do her is a GOOD SIGN! She knows that you love her, and only want the best for her. The fact that she is opening up to you about the possiblilty of a new therapist is great! She's acknowledging that she has a problem and wants to correct it. You sound like a very loving and caring mother. She picks up on that. Now you just have to believe it too. Amy told me a while back that I needed to repeat the Stuart Smalley skit from SNL to myself. "I'm good enough. I'm smart enough. And dog gone it, people like me." So that is my advice to you. Repeat after Stuart. You're good enough! You're smart enough! And dog gone it, people like you! Because it's all true. You are good enough and smart enough. Know that you and your DD are in my prayers.
I am both too hard and too lenient. But I try my best. MY DD and I enjoy each other's company; we walk, we talk, we laugh. I try to guide her. I hear her quote me all the time; she nurtures her friends in the ways that I have nurtured her. She will make her way, I pray. She will hopefully feel she can come to me. I will try to be patient; she's already come a long way. I have to remember that. Any time I despair about her eating habits, her attitude, her whatever, I have to remember that. And any time I say anything even critical, she says, as Tori does, you think I don't know that? Mothers sometimes feel they are not doing their job if they don't "say something." Thing is, if they have done their job, their kids already know.

This is the first weekend since Christmas that I've stayed on track!!! FINALLY, I think I'm back in control.
p.s... I LOVE Stuart!! 17 children!! My Lord! I can't imagine! (Although I have such a small family, I can't imagine anything over 4... lol.)

Last Check-In for this week's goals. . .
It's been a struggle this week for me, so I feel real good about what goals I met. Weight = I'm staying below my last "hurdle" of 210 lbs. I've been working for this outcome during February.
