Amy ... We have had a few 3 ft snowfalls within 24 hr periods. Two years back to back we did 1993 & 1994. Thankfully hubby and I were just getting together and didn't mind being snowed in at all ... Then about 2 yrs ago we got 39" overnight! Everyone kept saying we were gonna get it but they say that all the time. Well when we were up to about 18" before bed we figured we'd shovel in the morning. Ha! We should have shoveled and plowed then because no kidding, we spent all day the next day shoveling & plowing our steep city block long driveway.

Exclamation

It's still raining here, and the kids are feeling pretty cooped up. At least one of them is meaner than a hot snake.

Default Not those sort of drawers

I had re-read my last post and realised that you might think that when I said " I can't get my drawers to close" you might have thought I meant the silky kind and not the wooden ones. Which got me to thinking about awful panties stories, you know the ones, my friend left the loo in a pub and walked the entire length of the bar with her skirt tucked inside her knickers. Another friend had her elastic snap and they ended up around her ankles, she calmly stepped out of them, picked them up and put them in her handbag. My worst experience was in my very short lived affair with thongs, in a blinding hurry to get out to work I put it on back to front and suffered agonies until I could get to a bathroom to re-adjust, it's shorts all the way for me now.

Forgot to mention grandson willingly did his breakfast chores AGAIN today. I think that battle may be over.

fit4luv, congrats on getting in those non-starchy veggies. OMG, you're more than half way through those 14 miles of steps already! Kudos on that! I hope you enjoy the PC version of FitDay. I never looked into it. Do you like it better than the online version?

Hope, scales are so fickle. So many positive daily goals reached. Kudos on that. Don't worry about replies being "stale." LOL We're all in the same boat--sometimes my replies are a couple days late. But no one seems to be annoyed by mine. If they are, they politely keep it to themselves. Oh, sorry, I didn't even think about the muffin food porn. LOL on your offer to do grandson's breakfast chores for a muffin.

Mike you got a nice calorie deficit running. Now go eat some veggies. I ate a whole plain cucumber for a snack last night to finish getting in my quota.

Mary, enjoy your new doors. Snowdrifts in the bedroom aren't good. LOL We are supposed to get snow tonight--but only an inch. Even people in Ohio, USA can handle that. We are notorious for being bad and impatient snow drivers. Congrats on the morning yoga and sauna. I love green tea--so refreshing and is supposed to help with weight loss, but I can't tell by my body and losses.

April, you must make really yummy chili. I start making chili for both DH and me and take my portion out before adding beans. I like mine without beans but can still have only one cup because of the carbs in the tomatoes and a little in the chili powder. In Ohio we sometimes eat chili over spaghetti. I can have mine over half a portion "low net effective carb" Dreamfields spaghetti for an additional 2 1/2 net carbs--and it tastes like just regular spaghetti. Yeah, it's processed, though, so some people can't eat it, but it's just an occasional treat for me. Do you eat chili spaghetti in PA? I was born and reared in Cincinnati--I believe chili spaghetti is a Cincinnati thing--and is usually topped with finely shredded cheddar cheese. Hey, girl, you DESERVE recognition for all your pounds lost. In any event, even if you don't make it to 70 lbs. there are going to be a LOT of people who notice and you can truthfully say, if they actually ask for a number, "I lost close to 70 lbs. now." If you said 40 or 50 or 60 lbs., I'll bet they'd STILL be thoroughly impressed! Kudos on setting aside those apples in your drawer. Did you see Lizzie's post about the drawers? Now you DID put those apples in a WOODEN drawer, didn't you? OMG!!!! 39 inches of snow overnight!!!! Whoa, that does not sound like it was much fun at all!!!!

mhibdon, great to see you posting. It's wonderful that PD is almost as much into health, food, and fitness as you are. I hope your next sleep leaves you feeling totally refreshed.

Lizzie, I always freeze muffins when I make them. I make sure they're not touching each other on the tray when I put them in the freezer and then after they're frozen I put them in a plastic freezer bag. I rewarm mine in the microwave for about 10 seconds or so. Oh, those muesli muffins sound divine! Mmm, maybe I'll see if there's any kind low carb faux version of that--like the way we low carbers make faux potatoes or rice out of cauliflower--and, if done right, it's very hard to tell the difference. Lizzie, some people here say "drawers" for underwear, but I'd have known you meant the wooden kind. Did you see April's post about putting apples in her drawers. I HOPE she meant the wooden kind! LOL That's so funny about your friend walking all that way with her skirt tucked inside her knickers. I saw a comedy TV show about that one time where a lady was in a fashion show on a runway with her dress tucked inside the rear of her panty hose. Luckily no one saw me, but I was right next to my kitchen window one time when my sweat pants fell down around my ankles. BUT OMG! The funniest of ALL is your thong story!

Amy, that "no snows days off for walkers" was the policy when I was a parochial school child. When my son and daughter were in the parochial elementary school here, our tuition included bus transporatation fees that the parochial schools had to pay to the public school district. So the public school district's transportation supervisor decided when the parochial school would or would not have transportation in snowy weather. However, the parochial school policy here was that if the parents thought the bus transportation supervisor made a wrong call and we thought it unsafe for our kids to ride the bus on a snowy day, the child was given an excused absence. That only happened once in the 10 years I had any kids in that parochial school, but I drove the kids myself that day. LOL on your kid being meaner than a hot snake! Well, I guess it's not funny to YOU but it surely gave ME a chuckle. All my grandkids are gone, including live-in GD who is at her bf's and her Mom agreed to go pick her up tonight because I was asserting my right to an evening free of granny duty.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all of the PM's! You guys are the best! Sorry I haven't been very active this week. More paperwork than I can shake a stick at! Plus, I had to transport my mom to her best friend's funeral, out of town, which was a Seinfeld episode in itself.

Amy,
We missed the majority if the snow, too. There's probably 2-3 inches on the ground. The weather has been crazy warm here, as well... Well, warm for us anyway, in the 40's. (Shorts weather! ) Currently, it's around 19*, but the winds are kicking up to 40 mph gusts for the evening, which usually means power outages.

Lizzie,
I laughed so hard at your stories... Thank you so much!!! You have no idea how good it felt to laugh! I really needed that!

Mike,
I've been practicing my "y'alls" all day... Man, I just can't get it right! I better not move to the south, or they will die laughing at me! lol I was told in the mountains of Tennessee that I "talked funny" and in Myrtle Beach, they thought I was from Canada. I think I'll just sit quietly and smile...

Quinn, practice makes perfect. Don't give up, keep at it. Soon enough you'll sound like a southern belle.

OMG you guys, this is car month from hell!!!! I got a flat tire tonight and my spare was flat so I had to be towed, and now I have to get up early to get a ride to the car shop

I had a bad cheat day today. It just didn't start out well, and I was demotivated from there... I woke up with a pretty intense low blood sugar and I kinda overate for breakfast 'cause it left me feeling so munchy. By the time I got to dinner, I was just like, "Screw it, I'm eating Thai food for dinner." Which I did, and then ate chocolate, then got a flat tire, then at more chocolate. Probably looking at 2800 calories for the day. Ah well, I'm thinking I'm going to go to bed early - tomorrow's a fresh new day!

All this talk of snow is funny for me. We normally get one "real snow" a year, and the county pretty much shuts down. People down here FREAK when it snows. They have to run to the store and get the essentials, you know, bread milk, cigarettes and beer. It's soo funny to watch too. They act like they can't drive and I just slide it in 4-Wheel and GO! I'm still waiting for this season's snow. It's supposed to get cold over night and then rain tomorrow, but it's been so warm the past week that even it were to snow or ice nothing would stick. Which is how I like it!!

Lizzie--I had a lot of crap in my fridge too. But now it's all about the good stuff. Mainly.....there may be some chocolate in the freezer. I'm a pretty good cook, so I try to keep the basics stocked. I laughed so hard at your "drawers" post. Too many funny stories come to mind and I'm not sure some of them are "family friendly" enough to post LOL!!

Joanna--I think cabinets have it out for us too. And ARGH car troubles suck! My engine locked up on me a couple of years ago as I was kicking it down the interstate. And trust me, that's not something you want to happen while driving 75 MPH. Hope all gets better soon! And OMG now I want some Thai food!!!!

Mike--I've never played Words With Friends, from what I gather though it's kinda like scrabble?? My aunt called one night and was asking me what words she could make with certain letters. Which is weird, cause, hello she's on a computer...isn't that what Google is for??? And you should know better than anyone that you can't teach or practice Southern. It's a natural gift. I can tone down the 'country' in my accent when need be, but there is no denying I'm Southern! And before anyone asks, yes there is a difference between Southern and Country. One of the guys at work laughed at me the other day when I got pissed at one of the merchandisers and called him a "stupid SOB". He said it came out as one one word...more like "SomeB*&ch!". He also said that it was the country-est he's ever heard me.

Will post updated goals later....

I get the same chuckles watching people here in the Piedmont. Another thing they buy up is MEAT. It's like "Whoa! Supposed to snow an inch tomorrow? I gotta go buy MEAT!" The shelves are cleared of everything. Growing up in New York where it really snowed, I'm always amazed at this phenomenon. It's kinda scary as well. I've seen cars overturned on the sides of the road with just a few inches on the ground.
