Good Morning!

Thanks for starting us off, mhibdon! I am in the same boat and am 5 pounds over where I would like to be. The perfect storm of Thanksgiving, being sick, computer problems (couldn't get on to log), being crazy busy, and holiday parties & luncheons all contributed, but none of these is an excuse; it was just my own poor choices. I could have negotiated through each one of those and simply didn't. I acknowledge that and I'm moving on.

This being a holiday week with continued luncheons, quick dinners, tempting treats, and traditional foods eaten only once a year, I'm afraid that if I try to be too strict, I'll totally rebound, so I'm just going to try to be sensible and focus my goals on taking care of the basics.

1. Keep calories reasonable (maintenance ~1500-1600) M-F.
2. Keep a water bottle going throughout the day.
3. Run a mile daily (doing this with son who will have to do it next semester in PE).
4. Weights twice this week.
5. Tennis at least once this week.
6. Log everything and post every day.
7. 7 hours of sleep.
8. Get on the scale everyday...not so much for the number, but for the reminder to be mindful.
9. Don't totally lose control on Christmas Eve or Christmas!
10. Do shoulder exercises every day.

I have an office luncheon today, did pizzelles last night, and have brownie biscotti in the oven right now, so there are minefields...but I can do this.

Hope you all are doing well...I missed you last week while I was offline. Going to go back to the old thread and read up on what's been going on! Have a great day!

ZoeDuc 12-19-2011 01:26 AM

For the last month I have been going up and down with 5 lbs.
My goal is to be good this week. M-F
And not go crazy on Christmas. It will be about portion control over the holidays.

Good luck to us! :)

almeeker 12-19-2011 01:29 AM

I'm in, I've been so crazy busy it's not even funny, but I'm hoping to stay at least a little motivated this week, otherwise I'll be wearing my "feeling super fat" sweat pants to all the Christmas/New Year's gatherings because all the "not sweat" pants I own are getting very tight. Yikes. Anyway I'm off to an okay start this morning, I didn't workout but I ate a high protein/very light breakfast, and have a decent lunch planned. Tonight the kids will be in the pool so hopefully I'll get a workout in, and I have one planned for tomorrow morning as well. This week should be fairly normal, until Saturday night that is...

Goals:

1. 1,500 calories M-F, not more than 2,000 SS.
2. Exercise 5 hours.
3. WATER 100 OZ/DAILY (have really slipped on this one lately).
4. Protein 25% or higher, carbs 50% or less.

Other:

1. Wrap all the gifts.
2. Take kids shopping for DH (Wednesday).
3. Make Christmas cookies.
4. Clean house top to bottom.
5. Write Christmas letter and send out Christmas cards.

That's enough to keep a grown woman busy for a month I swear. On a complete side note, I spent all day yesterday tracking down a pair of rabbits for our youngest 2 dd's for Christmas presents. OMG are they ever the cutest things you've ever seen, I'm totally in love with both of them. The first one I bought is an 8 week old blue/white dutch doe (she looks like my avatar, only with blue fur instead of black), with absolutely fabulous markings. In the dutch breed markings are 50% of the points, so that's a huge deal, but she's also got an absolutely gorgeous build on top of the great markings.

The second rabbit is a 6 week old Siamese satin doe, mid range in color, great markings and fantastic fur. She's small still, but I feel pretty comfortable that she will reach a good show weight, given the size of her parents. On the way to look at the second rabbit, I was pretty nervous, of all the breeders in the state she's one of 3 that raise the Siamese satins, and the only one that had any babies for sale this time of year, and she only had one left. It was a 90-min drive in each direction to get there and I was like "I hope I don't drive all this way to see an ugly/yet expensive rabbit". But she's absolutely gorgeous! I raised satins and dutch as a kid and love both of these breeds. I can't wait for Christmas morning now, I'm soooo pumped it's not even funny. It's all I can do to sit here and not giggle, that would give me away in a hot second.

cjohnson728 12-19-2011 01:36 AM

Almeeker, I want to see pictures of the rabbits!! They sound adorable!

ZoeDuc, good to see you :). Good luck to you, too!

01gt4.6 12-19-2011 01:40 AM

Well, well, well, look at everyone that has made it back. I guess I should join in as well. I haven't weighed in b/c Mytsie won't let me get out of bed.

Okay... Just jumped on the scale, 180.4, down 1.8. Not bad for crashing and burning.

mhibdon 12-19-2011 02:30 AM

(Because I have to go be an adult)

Mid-Day Check In
Goals:

1. 750 Deficit:
2. 3 L: .5
3. Take Vitamin: Yes
4. Sleep 8 hours:
5. Walk Steg 3mi: 1.5

Cassie: You got this! One of my big things is “Por Mi Culpa” which is pretty much an acceptance and confession of fault with the implied intension to do better. [Thank-you, Catholic school] I’m sure that you’ll BEAST your recovery week!

ZoeDuc: Portion control is key! I always struggle with accepting that not all slices of [food porn description] are the same, and have resigned myself to licking my forks after I’m done.

Almeeker: Awwww! My Little for my sorority used to walk her rabbit on a leash! Are you going to do agility shows?!

Mike: Well, well, look who the cat dragged in. Now I can harass you via 2 social medias! Also, honey, baby, sweetie, darling, please no food porn this week.

ToriD1012 12-19-2011 02:33 AM

I'm here for yet another week. I'm going to try and keep it simple this week. With the holidays it's going to be hard to stay on top of things like a normal week. I only have two parties this week, both on Christmas Eve. I have the work "party", if you want to call it that, around lunch time. It will mainly be finger foods, something quick that we can grab and then dive right back into the madness that is C-mas Eve in the grocery business. Saturday night is dinner at my brother's house and then a night filled with opening presents, playing games and then playing Elf. It's bound to be a long day/night. So my goals for the week are.....

Health/Fitness

1--1300 to 1400 calories a day. After trying to stick to 1300 for about a month, I've realized that I can eat upward to 14 an still drop my 2 lbs a week.
2--limit the soda. I'm NOT stressing over this this week. If I have more than 1 a day, so be it.
3--lose 2 lbs. With 2 more I should be right under my mini goal of 230. Fingers crossed

Life/Home
1--finish last 3 blankets
2--finish wrapping gifts
3--make Christmas cookies. I've had requests for the butterscotch since October
4--do not kill coworkers, family or customers
5--relax and enjoy everything

No problem. Did you see my food pics from last week?

Ladies, I know the holiday season can be difficult. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas I know I eat enough to support an army. The one thing that we have to remember is that it's all about portion control. I've been going overboard too often lately. If you ever go to your favorite buffet and see a sign like this, they may be trying to give you a hint.

If you didn't laugh at that, you may have something wrong with you. ;)

Hey guys!

I jumped off the wagon with both feet last week - no falling for me! I'm not so concerned, truthfully, but I'm trying to get with the program again. I didn't gain any extra weight (at least within the error bars.) Actually, about half way through the week, I weighed in at my lowest weight, which is kind of ridiculous, frankly. I mean, it's all work work work and struggle to lose weight, and then I eat a bunch of crap (and I do mean crap - cheetos and M&Ms) and I lose 3 lbs? Kinda stupid. But anyway, I'm over it.

Finals were okay - I ended up with A's in all my classes, so that's cool. I actually wasn't expecting that for one of them because the final was awful, but I'm not asking too many questions. So, note to self - I can succeed in grad school! I have to tell myself these things periodically.

Anyway, lots to do! Off to Florida in a couple days, so gotta prep for that. And I'm taking shorts, and I'm wearing them, damnit! I don't care if it's too cold, it's still gonna happen, just on principle.

Alright, sayonara.

I'm thinking a lot of us fell off the wagon this past week. I know I ate a lot of crap too, but like you still managed to lose weight.

Congrats on your A's!! Don't ask questions, just take the A's

Have a blast in Florida. I'm super jealous, I have to stay home and work all week.

01gt4.6 12-19-2011 03:38 AM

Okay ladies, my goals are brought to you by the number 3 and the letter D, because I'm going to dominate this!

1) lose 3 pounds
2) 3 servings of veggies/fruit per day
3) no more that 3 servings of bread for the week
4) workout 3 times

ToriD1012 12-19-2011 03:47 AM

One, Two, Three...ah ah ah

fit4luv 12-19-2011 04:04 AM

Best wishes to all, Luv

Mern 12-19-2011 04:14 AM

Joanna! Congrats on the straight A's! We can all restart after Christmas. I'm not planning on binge-eating, but I know I'll be falling off the wagon a lot. Enjoy Florida!

My blood sugar test on the Dec. 27 will probably wind up in the low pre-diabetic range again due to carb cheats, but my cholesterol and triglycerides should still show another marked improvement over my last test, which showed a bit high, but not enough for my doc to recommend medication. She's convinced as I am I can control all three issues with diet alone at this point in my life. :)

Mike, LOL--was that sign on Ohio Pike about 3 1/2 miles from my house? We ate at a Chinese buffet Friday night. Mine was not rice or salt, but other carbs: noodles and I hit the dessert table hard.

Tori, I didn't forget you. Will be back later--got a bunch of laundry going and need to get it done before going to pick up my high school grandkids.

RunbikeSki 12-19-2011 04:18 AM

I'm in. I have a long list of things to do before I leave for the mountains. I got lots of stuff this weekend, mostly because hubby and the kitties left on Friday. I actually enjoy housework - at least when I don't have to work around someone else's schedule or activities , and this weekend was perfect for that. But I still haven't gotten the dang patio windows washed.

I was trying to figure out how specific to make my goals this week. I am leaving on Wed AM. Once at the mountain house, my time is mostly my own, which can be a good thing and a bad thing. There usually isn't much of a schedule and, of course, the next 2.5 weeks will be all about great dinners. DH and I love to cook together (I am talking about the kitchen, y'all), so I have a lot of control over what goes on the plate - I just have to exercise control over how much of that goes in my mouth.

Goals:

1. Keep calories under 1800 - roughly my maintenance level
2. Keep white foods to a minimum and avoid sweets.
3. Run 2 times - one long run, one hill training run
4. Work on "double unders" (jump rope where the rope goes under you feet 2 times for every hop)
5. Work on chataranga (yoga push ups. I have been doing them wrong which is tearing up my shoulders. When done correctly one uses a lot of back muscles rather than relying on arm strength alone.)
6. Log all food - good, bad, or indifferent

Home and Heart
7. Finish wrapping
8. Tune up skis:D
9. Make holiday calls to 4 friends
10. Get performance evaluations done:mad:
11. Tidy up garage before leaving

I'm glad to see so many folks checking in. Keep it up! I is so inspiring to read all of your posts;)

edahlt 12-19-2011 04:18 AM

Hey Ladies (and Mike/other male lurkers),
This is my first week doing this, so hopefully there's no initiation/hazing that I'm supposed to go through first and I can just jump right in! :p

This week actually shouldn't be too bad for me--I'm vegan, you see, whereas my family/friends are not, so as long as I stay away from excessive amounts of crackers/pretzels/chips at all of the gatherings and parties, I'm pretty much in the clear. That's kind of a big "if" for me, though--I always feel like, because everyone around me is eating, I should be, too, so I end up overloading on simple starches and salty foods and, well, it's just not good. But I will be strong this year!

All right, then. Goals:
1. 72 oz of water (or tea. I'll give myself a break on this one.)
2. Gym and/or run 6 days. (I love to imagine that, on Christmas morning, I'll get up early and go for a run before presents and giant breakfasts occur. We'll see if that happens.)
3. BOTH gym and run at least two days.
4. Daily calories under 1200.
5. Total calorie deficit of 7000 (I need to keep reminding myself that that's just 2 lbs worth, and not some insane, unreachable number).
6. Weigh in daily, but don't get discouraged! (I dunno if I was particularly bloated my first day and dehydrated this morning, or what, but the scale is claiming that I lost 3.5 lbs in two days. That's rather ridiculous, so I'm expecting an increase--I just need to remember that it's not because I'm doing something wrong, numbers just like to fluctuate.)

Best of luck to everyone else with their goals and emerging from the holidays unscathed!

--Torre

quinnesec 12-19-2011 04:55 AM

I'm in. Still fighting off this respiratory bug. It has all settled into my sinuses and I feel like my eyes are swelling shut... **sniff**. Ugh. I had two cold tablets out to take this morning and it seems as though my cat took them instead. I found one, but the other is still missing. Since he's still walking around (and not dead), I assume he didn't swallow it. lol Managed to get everything done around here anyway, with the exception of gift wrapping (should be working on it today, but don't feel like it) and grocery shopping later in the week.

Concerts, meetings and parties are going to monopolize my week, so I'm not even going to attempt to count calories until the 26th. (Not a huge appetite, anyway although Mike's pics looked pretty darn good... ;))

So, for this week, I'm keeping it reeaally simple...

* Don't overeat.
* Eat sensibly.
* Drink a lot. (Water, that is.)
* Get plenty of rest.
* Don't stress... everything has a way of getting done.

I'll check in later. Enjoy your day!

quinn

Mh Glad to see you back, sorry to hear about the 5lbs.

Cassie Brownie biscotti oh my, hmm Georgia nope don’t think I can get there for tea but if I was closer you wouldn’t have to worry about those biscotti’s making it to your hips they would be on mine.:D

ZoeDuc Good goals I think we all will be in the same bot this week enjoy the holiday without eating crazy amounts of treats.

Amy I missed you last week! I hope you get enough of your elf duties done to sit back a little and enjoy your family and the peace that Christmas offers you are such a super mom make sure you take time to take care of you too:). The bunnies sound so cute you will need to show us some pics while they are still tiny.

Mike Yeah on the loss! I wish my dog would make me stay in bed I could use the sleep but since she’s not allowed on the bed this plan will never work. Nice sign lol but you know with Chinese food your hungry an hour later so it makes sense to stay awhile.

Tori Your Christmas plans sound fun. Your goals are still really strong for the week #5 is the one I hope you exceed at.

Joanna Glad to see you back! Maybe the pause in your diet was exactly what you needed to kick up your metabolism and put an end to that plateau you have been stuck in. Congratulations on your grades you worked hard pat yourself on the back from me.:)

Fit4luv Good morning have a good Monday.

Mern I hope your tests go even better then you expect, it’s awesome that you are controlling these issues just with food changes that’s not an easy task.

Pam I am envious of your ability to escape to a mountain home my dream retirement home overlooks a lake deep in the west coast forest. I hope you have a great time and that you have the perfect snow for skiing.

Torre Welcome wow your goals for this week are impressive. I am intrigued by your veganism and may have many questions if you are open to that.

Quinn I am so sorry you are still sick get well soon.

I am off for a busy but fun day I have tea planned with three friends and some errands to finish. I was going to try to get to the gym today but plans have changed slightly from yesterday, I still want to keep that in my head so maybe I will accomplish it. I hope you all have productive days with all your Christmas tasks but that you still find some peace and joy amongst your day.:D

May you have the gladness of Christmas which is hope;
The spirit of Christmas which is peace;
The heart of Christmas which is love.

Just had time to skim to see who's here.

fit4luv and Torre, WELCOME--no embarrassment, initiation, or hazing here. LOL

ZoeDuc, I know you're not new, but welcome. Haven't seen any of your posts for a while, but I rarely venture out of this group.

Back later--almost done with laundry, but also only have to leave the house.

Kumochi 12-19-2011 06:05 AM

My previous post disappeared Maybe it knows this week will not be good. I'm torn between making the old family favourites or healthy fruits and veggie choices. I'll leave the decision till I see what I weight tomorrow. Had hoped to be down because of prep for tests today however that didn't happen. Could be salt in the laxatives they gave me or the electolytes I drank. Tests over - get to relax for the rest of the day.

If I watch my food I will be down 35 pounds for 2011 -- If I don't I'll be down 30. Either way I plan to be here next year getting rid of another 20.

This week. Eat healthy, drink water, plan meals that don't lead to uncontrolled eating.

OMG, they are so stinking cute it's not even funny. But alas they are hiding out at my parents house for the moment, in a storage tote, mom bless her had already assembled a spot for them before I even arrived (mom loves baby bunnies too). I wanted to take a couple of pictures of them, but the kids play with my phone constantly, especially now that they are out of school. If I had taken even a single shot of them, I would have been busted already.

The dutch breeder had buckets of black/white bucks, which is actually what I was looking for. They were so cute with their little black perky ears, while hopping all over each other like puppies, and their sweet little whiskers poking out of the cages to sniff me, my heart would have taken every one of them home in a hot second. But every last one of them had a marking fault, most fairly small but I was shopping for breed stock, so rather than introduce a flaw litter after litter, I was about to leave empty handed, and then I saw the little blue doe, and my heart actually skipped a beat! OMG she's gorgeous! And the breeder is totally game to let us use one of her bucks for a small fee, so it's all good.

RABBITS get stud fees!! That seems like quick money.

Cassie – resist the biscotti temptation! Nice to see you back again and good luck this week with all your social functions!

Almeeker – aw, rabbits! They’re illegal to own as pets here. :( I so wanted one when I was a kid. Your daughter is going to go nuts! I’m stealing your water goal this week, too.

Mike – Nice job on the loss! And thanks for the giggle. :D

Tori – Good luck getting those last few blankets done. And I like your number 5 goal for Life/Home. I think we all need to adopt that one.

Joanna
– well done on your A’s! Rock those shorts!

Pam – have the Christmas Crazies affected your brain, honey? You did just say you LIKE housework. If I had a rug big enough, everything but the furniture would be swept under it. And my 9yo would be wielding the broom for a chocolate treat.

Torre – good luck stopping yourself from grazing on the nibblies. I also find at gatherings that I’m reaching for the chip bowl or the cheese’n’crackers plate just ‘coz it’s there, not because I actually want it.

Okay, well I hang out every year to be able to hack into the ham leg, so as it happens only once a year, I shan’t limit myself this year. I also know there will be a bit of alcohol involved over Christmas, but I’ve already volunteered for Infant Duty on Christmas night because I’m a super chick, letting my man get a bit silly while I soberly rear the children at 3am. :P Last week I got three sessions of ‘formal’ exercise when my goal was five, so this week I’ll meet it in the middle. I didn’t drink nearly enough water last week, either. I am going for simple again this week as there’s still a boatload to get done.

Fitness:
Calorie intake between 1200 and 1500, so close! 1082
Exercise FOUR times this week: N
2L of water every day: Y

Personal:
Clean out the freakin’ car! N
Enjoy the kids. Y

Hey Quinn, you have to pull for the Steelers tonight, okay? How awesome would it be if it were NO and GB in the Superbowl!!

Thanks Bindi, I couldn't stop laughing when I read that. :)

Monday Evening Check In
Goals:

1. 750 Deficit: 751
2. 3 L: 2
3. Take Vitamin: Yes
4. Sleep 8 hours: We’ll see!
5. Walk Steg 3mi: Yes

Mike: Googly eyes about phones? What…?

Darlene: It’s all good! Better for me to feed my body during finals than to have my brain screaming for food instead of remembering equations! :)

Quinn: Love your “Don’t Stress” goal!!

Mary: Electrolytes are a form/type of salt, so just keep drinking water and you should be good to go in 3 to 5 days! WAY TO GO ON BEING DOWN 30-ish!!!

Goodness gracious, it is not even 8PM and I am already ready to hit the sack and call it a night! Going to wake up at 6AM tomorrow so that I can start my run right as the sun is rising. Not the safest idea ever, but most def one of the most beautiful. I love sunrises!

RunbikeSki 12-19-2011 11:46 AM

Today I have been totally useless at work, so I might as well go ahead with a nice post to all of you fine people:

mhibdon - so you are pretty much done with school? What's the plan for the holiday break? Somehow I image it will involve clubs and bars.

Cassie - yeah more kitty pix. Looks like a sweety, boy or girl? I still do not understand how you and all the others can go on a holiday baking fest without consuming your weight in baked goods:eek:. I did decide to make some ginger crisps and oatmeal cookies, but both are greatly modified for lower fat and sugar. We will just see how long they last.

Zoeduc - welcome back, just remember: portion control

Amy, very cute story about the bunnies, your girls are going to go nuts on Christmas morning. Pictures of the bunnies would be great, but pictures of your girls opening the box will be better.

Mike - I love that sign. There is a little jerky shop on the way up to the mountains that offers samples (they are very good). For a while they had a sign posted saying: These are samples, not your lunch.

Tori - stay calm as you approach the party season and try to pretend that you have suddenly become a picky eater. "Oh does that have sour cream in it? I can't eat that!" "That pastry has butter in it doesn't it? I can't eat that!"

Joanna - you go girl, were them shorts, but don't blame us if you freeze your little tush off! In any event you deserve a holiday just for getting through the semester in grad school, enjoy a well deserved break.

Luv - welcome, I love the goals as an acronym:D

Mern - No fair! Blood work 2 days after Christmas, there ought to be a law!

Torre - welcome to the loony bin here. Stick to those exercise goals and the rest will follow.

Quinn - ah, get better soon. After all the work you put into house, home and family, you need to be pampered a bit, but not pampered because you don't feel like getting out of bed (or off the coach). Here's hoping you rally soon.

Darlene - how was the tea? Was it a full meal tea? or a snacky-type tea?

Mary - ICK, tests that require a laxitives are on the bottom of my list of fun things to do

Bindi - yup always have liked housework - on my own terms mind you. Keep in mind that I have no kiddos to pick up after and a hubby that is relatively neat, but house work is one of those things that seems to rewards me for the effort. Wierd, I know.

So far so good today (but it's only 4:45 PM PST, so I've got hours to screw up) but I have a number of chores yet to do, so at least my hands will be occupied.

You are correct in thinking that I am home in Charleston for Winter Break! :)

But, well... you see... I'm in a dilemma: If I go to the bar, I'll be out late and not guaranteed to have a good time because 1. the bartender that I've been chasing since forever no longer works there, and 2. my ex will be in town with their new girl and they both like to drink, so they'll probably be there. OR, I can stay home, get 8 hours of sleep, and focus on my training.

But, I do have to make an appearance and remind everyone that I'm the hottest piece of ass they'll never have. So, I'm considering waiting until there is a big event, or.. Idk :( Advice? Please? I'm just so tired all the gosh-darned time!

ex = drama. You know this, we all know this. Frankly this is how I see that situation playing out. You go out, your ex will show up with the new girl. Things will be awkward... at best and could possibly turn into some drama. You're going to get pissed and head back for the night where you'll spend the rest of the night eating, and eating, and eating. Before you know it you'll be some consumed with grief from eating, and eating, and eating so much that you'll have to eat some more... just for the comfort of it. You'll lose focus, drop out of school and just eat some more. Before you know it you'll be as big as a house and you're ex's new women will be the hottest thing around. You'll feel so humiliated that you'll load up Steg and skip town. You'll end up under a bridge with Cassie and Quinn, but they will kick you to the curb b/c you brought Steg instead of 50 cats. I could be wrong, but that's just how I see it. Anyone else unfolding EXACTLY like this? :D

Bahahaha! Yet there are some true points there. I vote stay home, get a good sleep, train hard, find out where the hot bartender has gone to and resume your stalking at a different location. :D

Well said, do the stalking at a different location. :)

Crushed. Today is my weigh-in day and I gained 100g, which is about 3.5oz.

My boy is putting on Wii Fit so that's our play time and I'll do a bit of exercise, too . . . I'll count this as 'bonus', not as part of my goals.

Mary 30 or 35 lbs are both awesome numbers congratulations.:)

Mh I think passing your tests is more important than some calories also. I agree with Bindi on the drama solution.

Pam my tea was coffee at 11 with one friend tea and snacks with another at 1 and the 3rd was at 3 so needless to say I am done with hot liquids today. but all three were great visits and I enjoyed my day very much. I like your new avatar pic. I hope you enjoy getting your tasks done tonight and they keep you from food trouble.

I am not getting tp the gym again ugggghhhh. Its already 615 and I still need to go to the bank, the grocery store and pick up my dd prescriptions I guess I need to move my bottom I’ll be back later to post actuals . Have a great evening.:D

Hey Quinn, you have to pull for the Steelers tonight, okay? How awesome would it be if it were NO and GB in the Superbowl!!

That would be a great game! NO has been playing great! Haven't they won like 5 or 6 in a row now? GB stunk on Sunday... too many injuries.

I'm kind of high on cold meds right now, but I think SF has to lose to give GB home field advantage. So, I'm all for a Steelers win although I can't stand Roethlisberger.

Hahahaha... all the lights just went out at the stadium! :D They should play like that! lol

They should have brought some candle sticks to candle stick. ;) yeah, I think it may be 6 in a row.

Pam—Thanks for the welcome!
I definitely understand the loving to cook healthy meals, but overeating. What I like to do is portion out what I’m going to eat and serving everyone else who is sharing my meal with me, put the leftovers away, and THEN sit down to eat. I find it really helps me rethink getting seconds.
I also love you goal of avoiding white foods. That’s a great general rule—I might have to borrow it next week!

Quinn--hope you feel better soon, especially with everything you have to do.

Darlene—I’m always open to questions about veganism or vegetarianism. I actually just realized the other day that I’ve been a non-meat-eater for over half my life now.
Best of luck with your goals—I like how you’ve set different limits for the week and the holidays. Very clever.

Mern—thanks for the welcome!

Mary—sounds like a reasonable plan for the week. :) As far as what to make, I’d suggest giving yourself some healthier, leaner options regardless of what your weigh-in says. That would still allow you to enjoy your family’s recipes while still mostly filling up on lower-calorie, more nutritious dishes.

Almeeker—the rabbits sound adorable! Please please please post pictures after Christmas? –puppy eyes-

Bindi—that sounds like a great plan to avoid the extra calories from alcohol. I love those sorts of clever cheats to get yourself out of diet-dangerous situations.
As far as your increase—100 g is nothing! One of my favorite quotes I’ve come across on a couple of different diet blogs regarding tiny gains like that: “If you had peed a little more before you weighed in, you’d have stayed the same!” I’m sure you’ll bounce back next week—don’t let it get you down.

Mike—NO and GB in the Superbowl? Psh, please. Rematch between Pittsburgh and Green Bay! (With Pittsburgh emerging victorious, of course. …three guesses where I’m from. :p )

Mhibdon—Congrats on your nice deficit today! And as for feeding yourself during finals—yes, please. I tend to use finals week (…and midterm week… and the last week of classes… hmmm…) as an excuse to pig out. Maybe not the healthiest thing in the world, but I like to think of it as a time-honored tradition. :p
As far as ex avoidance strategies: I’m with Bindi on this one. Avoid drama and go stalk the hot bartender elsewhere.

And for today’s wrap-up:
1. 72 oz of water:>100 oz!
2. Gym and/or run 6 days: Gym
3. BOTH gym and run at least two days: Not today
4. Daily calories under 1200: 1199!
5. Total calorie deficit of 7000: -1087 today
6. Weigh in daily, but don't get discouraged!:We’ll see tomorrow morning

Problem with stalking the hot ex-bartender- He's now being a hermit and living with his girlfriend. Le sigh :( Though PPD might be driving down to visit for a couple days! Yay! I can't wait to burn some extra calories! ;)

01gt4.6 12-19-2011 02:50 PM

1) lose 3 pounds (starting at 180.4)
2) 3 servings of veggies/fruit per day yes
3) no more that 3 servings of bread for the week 0
4) workout 3 times off
