Check in:

1. Limit calories to 1200* (average). 1184, 1208, 1196, 1220-forgot to log a piece of fruit early in the day, 1198
2. Exercise in some form or fashion 7 times. Weights, Cardio tennis, Cardio tennis, weights, stationary bike
3. Drink 64 oz. water daily. Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes
4. Sleep 7 hours daily. 6.5, 6.5 (planned on more, but hubby was NOT packing quietly this morning!), No-no excuse, Yes!!! Nooo
5. Take all vitamins & supplements. Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes
6. 5 fruits & veggies per day. Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes
7. Journal; I've got to figure out why I keep slipping! Yes, Yes, No-out all day; too tired now, No-completely forgot, No-no time; too busy
8. Log everything. Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes

9. Work on the Mom Cave. Yes, Not today, Not on the agenda today, Nothing more I can do right now
10. Catch up billing. Not today, Worked on it, Not today, Not today, No and I need to do this
11. Begin organizing photos. Not today
12. Smile more, bitch less . I wish; bad mood all day Yes, Pretty much, Yes! Pretty much

Well, looking at the goals, there's a lot of red there; maybe I was too ambitious this week. But I'm encouraged that the ones I'm meeting are eating well, exercising, drinking the water, and taking my vitamins, so I have to feel good about that, since those things totally fell off last week.

Quinn, I read your post and all I could think of was "Oh my gosh, he's going to be bear bait!!" Too funny! I admire you for getting on the scale today; I certainly did not! I am planning on facing the music on Monday, though. Hopefully I can have two strong days this weekend to prepare.

Almeeker, I'm glad you expelled Mr. Screamy Pants. It's not worth your sanity and you gave it the old college try. I hope you made out okay with all the goodie baking today; I'm sure that would be a challenge for me.

MAIN80, I hope you get your report done soon...I know in my work, the more I have to do, the more I get done. During slower times when I don't have the time pressure, I'm so lackadaisical it's the complete opposite of how I usually am. Hope you have a wonderful time camping this weekend!

Terri, you're smart to shake up your routine. I think the 30DS is a good program. Keep us posted on how it goes for you! No, no mechanics...although his car is making awfully funny noises, honestly it is .

Well, today was crazy, from one thing to another and very little time. I was so hungry when we got home I was ready to chew off an arm. It was also homemade pizza night, so it took a while. I must've thought of ten things I wanted to shove in my mouth, but for the first time in a loooooong time, I did not give in. I made a big salad and ate that while the pizza was cooking and when it was ready I ate the serving I planned on. I hope this means I'm getting back on track after the rough weeks lately.

This weekend will be challenging also; the boy's in tournament an hour away from home, so we'll be spending the day there and eating out; we'll be hot, tired, and possibly have down time, so I need to be vigilant. I made that darn addictive trail mix (aka crack mix) tonight (I'm okay if I don't start on it; once I do, all bets are off), I have energy bars, fruit, and lots of drinks and ice. Honestly, all I can think right now is that I don't care what we eat, as long as no one dies from the heat. It's mid-90s and it's hotter on the court.

Well, it's off to bed so I can get close to my 7 hours...really need to prioritize that one next week. Hope you all had a great day and got the weekend off to a good start .

Hi all,
I won't be around much, I switched to vegetarian forums now, but it had been great pleasure to get to know you all. I'm not really losing weight now, I'm maintaining on 160lb which brings my overall loss to 22lb (which isn't that bad
BUT the main thing I wanted to tell you, DH got the residency papers after all ) so we will live in peace for the next 3 years thank you for all your prayers and well-wishing

Default playing catch up

I'm still unsure how the Thai food will add up, but before going to dinner I was ~1300 calories deficient. I doubt seriously that dinner was 1300 calories but I can't be certain so I'll say that I was at 0 for the day and that I probably missed my carb goal.

Sort of a good deed:
I called someone that has homeowners insurance with us but doesn't have an agent. I figured out some discounts that will save her ~$2k/yr. Yes I said SAVE her that much. I know that most of y'all only pay a fraction of that a year. lol She lives in New Orleans, needless to say, her premium is over $7000/ yr. I'm meeting with her and her husband next week. She's been emailing me thanking me and said she's going to refer me to her friends and neighbors.

On a side note, this week I didn't have make money as a goal and the week started off great. I guess my good deeds payed off. My brother wrote a big case Monday, then another on Tuesday. He did a 75/25 split on the commission. He usually splits some of his business with me since he's trying to help me along and when he retires I'll be taking over all of his clients and he knows they'll be treated the way that he would have treated them. Anyway my 25% was pretty nice! Monday was just over $5k (not bad for a holiday and working a 1/2 day ) and Tuesday was just under $5k. $10k in commission in 2 days won't hurt my feelings any. We'll have another from a while back that should come back on in the next week or two. It should be around the same amount. Financially this year has been rough (I think my YTD is around $6k) but this new wave of sales should have me going in the right direction now.

1 cheat day (Monday) yes

for the other 6 days
2) gallon of water a day no, yes, yes, yes
3) 2500 cal deficient -918, -701, 0?, -961
4) no more than 60g of cabs a day (after breakfast) 47.8g, 53.6g, no?, 17.7g
5) walk the dogs 5 times no, no, yes, yes, yes

Muna, that is great news about your husband! Sorry to hear about you leaving us. We'll be here if you decide to come back and visit!

Cassie, good job with staying in control with the pizza! The weather has been crazy this year, right? It was 97* here/ I swear it feels like late July already. We are probably in for a rough hurricane season.

Quinn, I don't think I could handle fish 2-3 times a week... unless it's fried or shellfish. I can only handle so much grilled or baked fish. Kudos to you!

Terri, good luck on the 30 day shred and be careful!

Main, get busy on your report!!!!

Muna,

That's wonderful news! You certainly deserve 3 years of peace after all that your family went through. Wishing nothing but the best for you... and do come back and visit!

Cassie,

You're absolutely right. Your important goals regarding health and nutrition look great. Keep hydrated while sitting at tournaments. Hope your son does well! No bear last night, although I did take a late evening walk. Every sound pretty much freaked me out!

Mike,

So happy to hear your commissions are starting to come through, and in a big way! I've seen signs of our local community picking up, as well. I see lots of home remodeling, etc. when I'm out walking, which had pretty much come to an end around here after the stock market crash. Hopefully, business will continue to recover and your perseverance and kindness to your customers will now start to show you some rewards. Congratulations!

About the fish... I always have broiled cod every Friday night when I go out and I do include shrimp as one of my "fish" nights. We also do a lot with tuna and salmon because it's easy and quick. I try to incorporate the envelopes of Albacore tuna into something that I eat every week too, sometimes for lunch, mainly because it's low cal. and pretty good for you.

Well, today is our first official day of summer vacation and it's gorgeous! Mid 80's and breezy for the next few days. No reason not to get lots of outdoor activities in. Thinking about going out for lunch, but I haven't eaten yet today so will combine breakfast and lunch calories to do it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

quinn

I am so far behind with you all. Best I can do is skim and hope I didn't miss anyone. If any of you are expecting a reply to a question and I don't answer, just say so and I'll do my best to follow up. I've been logging my food, but not posting daily. I'll get that caught up. The cookout for my son's birthday is tomorrow, but I don't need to cheat. As hostess I made sure there's plenty of stuff I can eat. I'll have strawberries and melon on the fruit tray, so that and a nonfat yogurt will be in place of ice cream and cake for me.

Muna, congrats on those 22 lbs. lost! And I'm really happy to learn that your husband got his residency papers--at least for three years. We will miss you!

Main80, yes, I love mushrooms. I especially like them as a replacement for beans in turkey chili and for meat in pasta sauce. And, ooh, I almost forgot how good grilled portabello mushrooms are as a meat replacement. Hope you have/had a great time camping!

Quinn, low fat and low carb IS kinda tricky for vegetarian meals. I can't do beans or rice, but can do low carb pasta and am a real veggie lover. I'm good at adapting recipes to suit my needs. I'd certainly appreciate any suggestions or websites. Yeah, even just three or four low sat fat, low carb vegetarian meals is all I need to rotate. From Cassie and Main80 I have one idea of low carb pasta with marinara sauce and mushrooms. A crustless quiche with Egg Beaters would work, too. Hmm, your healthful eating must be contageous since you do 2-3 chicken nights, 2-3 fish nights and 2-3 vegetarian nights. Wow, you did GREAT on your calories for date night! Congrats on that! You did great on everything this week! OMG on the bear story! LOL on tying a pork chop to DH's neck!

Cassie, you're doing great on your food, exercise, water, vitamins, logging, everything, etc. That's a lot to accomplish with as busy a life as you have. Oh, I hope your DH is feeling better by now. Wow, congrats on the big salad while the pizza was baking and eating only what you planned. Way to go! Good luck to your son with the tournament this weekend. And best wishes on your food away from home. It's 95 degrees as I type this and am begging off on my grandson's softball game at 4PM today--but DH is going. I cannot take heat like this. Luckily my son's birthday cookout is at my house, so I can come into the air conditioning whenever necessary.

Almeeker, best wishes on your food goals. Sometimes it's just plain hard, especially when you're on the run so much. Big hug to ya! How did Mr. Screamy Pants' mother take the news that you can't watch him for the summer? OMG good luck with the cookie baking! Aw, I hope you can find a doc who will help DD with her ear problem. Why is it that some docs think soccer moms are airheads? Are any of those ear specialists women? I was wondering if a woman doc would listen to your concerns more. Thanks for the almond milk idea. I'll look into that next time I go to the store.

Terri, I know that not everyone can manage their health problems without meds. Some people's bodies just don't respond well enough through diet alone. Some people have lifestyles that don't lend easily to logging every bite of food they put into their mouths; some are too busy to cook separate meals for family members who are not willing to "convert" to more healthful eating; and some are on the run too much with their families so have to eat out a lot. I know I can manage my blood sugar with 25g net carbs--don't know yet how successful I will be at bringing down my cholesterol and triglycerides. Luckily, I have a lifestyle that lends easily to trying it med-free. Sure I'll share any good vegetarian recipes I come up with. LOL on bf's attitude toward vegetarian. I'm like you--if DH doesn't like what I cook, he can always fend for himself for one meal--he's really good about doing that. Best wishes on your new exercise aspirations!

Yo, Mike! How are you feeling since your last injury? That's got to be awful! Best wishes on the MRI and wishing you a course of treatment that will quickly put you on the mend. Congrats on yet another good deed and on the commissions coming in. I know that will give you a lot of peace of mind. Great job on your food! Also, best wishes on DD's financial aid. That surely did help us a lot when our daughter was in college.

Haven't figured out yet how to eat closer to 1600 calories without exceeding my sat fat limit. I want to eat 1600 as a lifestyle--don't want to lose weight and then fiddle with having to increase calories without regaining. Been cutting myself off after I reach my sat fat limit. I know it'll get easier with experience. Cholesterol intake is easier to limit.

Calorie limit 1600 1359, 1307, 1300, 1318, 1186
Calorie deficit 800 per day: down 1/2 lb. so far this week, so not doing the math
Carbs less fiber 25g 24.3, 24.8, 22.8, 25.5, 19.5
Track grams & % of calories from protein 110.6 or 35%, 92.5 or 31%, 91.1 or 30%, 101.8 or 35%, 110.4 or 40%
Track % of calories from saturated fat (12% target) 11% , 8%, 11%, 15% no certain food- just added up, 11%
Track mg. cholesterol (300mg. target) 340.6, again no certain food-just added up, 294.5, 190.5, 213.9, 153.8

Artificial sweetener limit 1 packet per day I think all green except one day
Sugar free candy limit 2 pieces per day YES, YES, YES, YES, YES

Water 64 oz. YES, YES, YES, YES, YES
Exercise 30 minutes, 5 days--no lame excuses (Don't look, MAIN80, LOL) NO, NO, YES, N0 due to misery from sinus allergy, DITTO, YES
Be sure the day's custom foods in FitDay have sat fat & cholesterol listed. YES, YES, YES, YES, YES

Mern,

I've posted this a couple of times before, but here are some of my vegetarian (or nearly so) go-to meals that are quick and easy to prepare. If you want any specific recipes, let me know. I've never had any experience with diabetic needs, so some may not work for you.

*Spanish Rice (Won't work for you)
*Fried Rice (Ditto- WW has an awesome recipe, though)
*Veggie Subs on whole wheat buns or wraps
*Whole Wheat Pasta Tosses
*Veggie Pizza on whole wheat crust and a little low-fat cheese
*Low-fat, whole wheat Pasta Alfredo made with chicken stock instead of butter
*Grilled Portabella Sandwiches with 1/2 slice low-fat swiss and red onion on whole wheat
*LF Ricotta Gnocchi with Zucchini Ribbons and Grape Tomatoes
*Veggie Omelets (made with Egg Beaters) and fresh fruit
*Italian Tortellini Soup (kids love this, too)

Mern, what about adding some nuts into your daily totals? They'll get the calories up there for you and the fats are good ones. Can you add olive oil to things, salads, veggies, maybe? Do you like avocadoes?
