Mern, I'm sorry to hear that you're getting shorter. Have you considered yoga? The minute I heard a yoga workout could stretch your spine out and make you taller (or at least regain any height you'd lost) I went out and bought a couple of DVD's. So far I'm still the same height, but I keep at it all the same.

Quinn, awesome job on your proactive health appointment!!! Cancer runs in my mom's family too, but I'm currently living in a land of denial on the issue.

He took 3 month colic into 3 years... it just kind of blended into the "terrible two's"! (Hard to tell where one ended and the next started. lol) I can laugh now, but it sure wasn't funny then. I'm with Mike... hand him back...
I love being a mom too, but I HATED being pregnant. Somehow or another taking care of a baby after being pregnant for 9 months seemed like a piece of cake.

Mr. Screamy Pant's mom is a nurse so of course she hasn't done any of the obvious, he's breast fed. I get little bags of frozen milk to feed him. He's not a true colicky baby, he stops most of the time when you pick him up. Well he stops for a minute anyway.

I was the queen of denial until I had a mammogram misread and over diagnosed as "suspected malignancy" five years ago. Thank God for incompetent radiologists, because his misdiagnosis of a suspected cancer let me think that I actually had it for several weeks. That was just the scare I needed to become proactive. It also led me to a facility with a competent, well trained staff of cancer specialists. It actually costs me less than when I had my mammograms done at my little podunk hospital. I have no idea why.

My one year appointment was actually supposed to be last October... I was a little late this year, which I won't let happen again.

If you have a family history, I really encourage you to do it. It's great peace of mind. If I ever do develop cancer, I don't have to search for a great treatment center... I'm already there.

almeeker, that machine is a lat pull down machine, keep using it, it'll help you get to being able to do a pull up. Most gyms have an "assisted" pull up machine, you should ask if your gym have one. If so, that may be a slightly better option.

I almost forgot to post my numbers! OOPS.

After having my bills start to pile up and not making any decent sales in a while I decided to take a loan against my 401k. I didn't want to do it but now that I look back, it was a really good move since there are no IRS penalties and I won't have to pay takes on it. It also carries a low interest rate of 3.25% but since I'm borrowing my own money, I'm paying myself back so all the interest that I pay, comes back to me. Pretty cool, huh? I paid all my bills, the ones that I could pay ahead, I did. I signed up at the gym today and paid the entire year up and now my checking account has a little cushion in it. I have a really big commission that should be hitting soon, so with that I'll pay Uncle Sam off. The only down fall is that the money I borrowed is pre-tax money and the money I pay back will be post-tax, but that's not that big of a deal to me.

Yesterday I called a client. I wrote her homeowners insurance a few months back and told her that our auto rates went down and she should let me run a quote for her. She was game (most people put up a little resistance for some reason). She was paying $310/month, I quoted her better coverage for $192/month (the best thing is the company that I write my P&C through is the 3rd largest carrier in the country, way bigger than her other company). She was so damn happy to make the switch. Then I called the home office and added a multi-policy discount on her home and it went down $240/yr. So all in all I ended up saving her over $1600/yr. She asked if I would mind if she posted that on Facebook. I was like "hell no, I don't mind!" I'm not allowed to post that kind of stuff online, but others can. I'm not even allowed to put what company that I work for in my information b/c they feel it's a form of advertisement. So she posted on there that I hooked her up and she even listed my office number! IMO that's the best thing that a client could ever do to help me out. It was a small sale for me but I have a feeling that good things are going to come of it.

Today I went to the gym and my workout partner was so glad to see me. He hasn't been but twice in the last 2 weeks. We had a great workout but I lifted a little too much on deadlifts so my back is a little stiff. Oh the joys of being old.

Weekend going well. Getting exercise and eating right. Now for the bad news --I'm heading out to a bar where a friend is playing. Food and beer -- bad temptation. I'm being my own DD and it's a holiday weekend here so hopefully one Coors light will not blow my diet and nobody orders fries.

Almeeker -- it took me a few years of yoga stretches to gain the inch. Good luck with growing taller. Mary

Mary, I hope you have/had a good time at the bar tonight. I love Coors Light--hope you keep/kept in control of your diet.

Mike, another act of kindness from you for an insurance client. I hope that comes back to you a hundred fold! I'm glad your 401K deal worked out to help you through the tough times. Looks like you made a wise decision--and I'm tickled you got to keep your gym membership. Oh, the joys of being 40 years OLD. LOL but sorry your back is stiff. Nice that you got to see your workout buddy after that absence. Well, you've got three yesses out of five on eating clean this week and three out of five on your good calorie deficit. Great on all your other stuff and best wishes on the better workouts. Thanks for your encouragement on my weight loss and changing my mini goal date. Means a lot to me to have pals that understand where I'm coming from.

Quinn, I'm so glad that you are pro-active in your breast cancer checkups. OMG, that's horrible that you had that false positive five years ago. My best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer last November and it wasn't until after her lumpectomy that they discovered the tumor was benign. She was told before her surgery that she'd need radiation treatments after her surgery. I just had a routine mammogram Thursday--results should be back soon. I only know of one family member on either side of the family that had breast cancer and that was my Dad's sister. No other female cancers either. So I'm not worried about my results. Yeah, I lost 23.5 lbs. from my height loss--off the top of my head--brain mass, I think--which explains a lot. LOL Congrats on that 4 mile hike. Wow, it's awesome that you caught that little weight gain. I thought of that--that it could be water weight--Cheetos and other junk foods will do that. I'll bet you can get that off really quickly, especially with healthy choices on hand. Keep us posted!

Almeeker, the only thing that bothered me about finding out I'm shorter than I thought was the number that FitDay gave me for lifestyle calories burned and for a higher BMI. I don't aspire to get taller from stretching, but that was really sweet of you to give me the yoga tip. I cracked up over your thought for mhibdon to introduce her dog to her ex. LOL LOL LOL

Mhibdon, best wishes with the ex. Hope everything goes OK with the dog bite guy. Stegosaurus--what a cute name. Best wishes with the summer classes (curfew--my Mom and I fought a lot over that when I was past 20) and congrats on the weight loss!

Main80, thanks for your encouragement. Well, it's good that you're not all that hungry since you're not getting in all the exercise you wanted to get in. But don't go too long under 1200 calories. I didn't do any better than you on exercise this week--let's both try harder next week.

My gym used to have an assisted pull-up machine, but they got rid of it. I'm not sure why, it worked fine, and it didn't take up very much room. The lat pull down machine is 4-5x bigger (and it looks homemade), but the heavy muscle guys seem to use it all the time. My gym has a lot of homemade stuff, I suspect the shop teacher has something to do with that. The low bar I found is on the top of the shortest cage? I don't know what that thing is called either, it's like a large rectangular frame made out of steel box pipe, the whole one end of the free weight area is lined with them, and the smallest one has a chin-up bar welded to the top of it. I think I can attempt a reverse chin-up, there are a bunch of stools in different heights in the free weight area. There is one guy that lines them up throughout the place and leaps from one to the next.
