has anyone else tried toning shoes?

I haven't tried the Shape Ups, but three of the girls at work wear them and love them. 10 hours on a concrete floor is hard on the feet. Last year for my birthday, I bought some Alegria shoes, they were expensive but they've held up extremely well. Still as comfortable as when I bought them in July, and they still look good too. Considering I can kill a pair of sneakers at work in 2 months or less, that's pretty good mileage.

I bought the Dr. Sholls ones at Walmart. Not sure if they do anything as far as extra toning, but they are very comfortable. I have flat feet and the bump in the arch eliminated the arch cramps I tend get.
But, yes can be tricky when going down stairs. And I am also balance challenged, and haven't fallen yet.
