Hey Rhoda,
Could just be life at this moment, but we'd need to know a bit more. Like: what are you eating? how much physical activity is typical of your day? and maybe most important, what is your current stress level? All these things can play into exhaustions.

I suspect if you give us a little more to go on you will get lots of thoughts and suggestions.

Pam

I found that I was eating too much protein, like about 130-140g when I cut down to 90g I felt much more energy.

64rhoda: How do you feel when you wake up in the morning? Do you feel refreshed & energetic, or dragged out and tired? Has anyone ever said that you snore when sleeping? What is your BMI? Your age?
I'm thinking that you may have obstuctive sleep apnea (OSA). If you have a BMI over 25 (and especially if your BMI is over 30) or you are post-menopausal you may have OSA. The major symptoms of OSA are excessive daytime sleepiness, snoring, and waking up in the AM unrefreshed. If any of these describe you, ask your health care practitioner for a referral to a sleep specialist.

In OSA, your airway closes many times when you are sleeping, causing you to wake up to breathe. Most of these awakenings are so short you cannot remember them in the morning, but because they disrupt your sleep, you don't get enough rest. It is best treated with CPAP (pronounced see-pap), which uses air pressure to hold your airway open when you sleep. It takes some getting used to, but generally one night is enough to convince you to keep using it, because the difference it makes in your energy level is HUGE!

I agree; the difference, if you have sleep apnea, and it is treated, is very significant in your energy level. My husband has been on CPAP since Nov. of 2009 and it is very different for him. If he falls asleep without the apparatus on, he feels it the very next day.

Not saying this is what you are experiencing, but just wanted to throw it out there for anyone who might think they have it.

I went through a period like this and eventually figured out it was a supplement I was taking...glucosamine chondroitin. I couldn't find anything on the internet to support this, but I stopped taking it and things got better. Started again, it got worse. I'm off it now.

I went through a rough patch when I first started dieting. My body was used to more calories, specifically more carbs and when I cut those back I was mean and dragging butt for a while. I don't know how many calories you're getting, but you might want to take a look at how those calories are breaking out, what does your pie chart look like? Are you drinking enough water? If I don't drink enough my joints ache, and I feel exhausted just from that. Now a days, I start with a workout, and that gets me charged for the day. You might also talk to your doctor and get some blood work done. Certain nutrient deficiencies can cause fatigue, like low vit-D, low iron, low B-12. Do you take a multivitamin? If not you might consider it.
