Boo honey, you are preaching to the choir here. I'm stuck in the 150's and have been since July. The good news is that I'm only up .2 pounds for the weekend, which is a darn sight better than the last 2-3 weekends. So crossing my fingers for a loss this week. The first 80 pounds came off really quickly, the last 10 have been brutal, and the next 30 aren't going to be a barrel of monkeys either, especially with the holidays coming up. Still if someone could just magically give you a 20 pound loss for Christmas, you would be thrilled with that right? So be thrilled when you give it to yourself.

I was going to post this information awhile back - as I thought it would shed some light as to why it takes so long to shed the pounds.... In my nutrition class we learned that 1 pound of fat equals about 3,500 kcalories. So that means in order to lose weight you have to burn up 3,500 calories to get a 1 pound weight loss..... Diet and exercise make it easier to speed up the weight loss process. I hope this is helpful! I know for me it helps put things into perspective. |

That willpower thing is a b*&ch. Last night we made smores... arghhhhh. I did manage to say NO when everyone wanted to go to dairy queen and get blizzards.

To fight of the candy craving I let myself have two candies daily for being good. I figure if i don't do this i will have candy attack one day and I will go crazy on candy. Right now I am struggling to really keep my carbs low because I eat lots of fruits for lunch and for breakfast I have an egg cheese burrito and for snack midday I like to have granola yogurt parfait. When I get home for dinner this is my problem area I have hard time resisting what's in the fridge :(.. I know I can do it just a slow start though :(

Dreading today - and update to list....
167 - Down 2 more pounds, bring totaly to 13 pounds- Whew - I was totally dreading today.... I haven't been able to work out in a week between the baby being sick - and now me being sick (I did work out on Monday - but it made me feel much worse). At least the diet part has still been working for me.

I'm a bit late here. I set my goal for 20 lbs lost by 1/1/11 yesterday (5'9 and 190 lbs going down to 170 lbs). I think I'm kind of in the same timeframe as the rest of you ladies though!
I tried "diet buddying" with a male friend of mine on fitday, he weighs 250 and it kills me to see the guy eat a bacon/egg sandwich, TWO grilled cheeses, and a WHOLE 12 inch pizza and still have 800 calories to spare for the day without exercising. Men are lucky in so many ways! Anyhow, I'm doing my best avoiding alcohol, fast food, and eating when I'm not hungry in the evenings out of boredom. To reach my goal I'm allowed 1200 - 1400 calories a day and it's not easy! To introduce myself, I'm Candice, 27 y/o, single, and working the 9 -5. Tryin to get my ol' dog Daisy out for some longer walks too but usually I'm so exhausted all I can do is restrict calories. I lost my job to a layoff in April/10 and gained 30+ lbs in 4 months. The excess weight is such an awful reminder of it, not to mention I don't fit into many of my office clothes anymore now that I'm back to work! I look forward to hearing about all of your own struggles and successes. I'll be here. =) |
Welcome! I understand what you mean. I have my baby girl in March 2009 and since then I hadn't lost much of my maternity weight.. I was slacking off until everyone around me started telling me how much weight I had gained. Clothes don't fit plus I didn't like the image of myself this way anymore. I am starting off slow by losing 2 pounds in 3 weeks but it's a start and my goal is to be down to 125 pounds by the end of January if possible. I would love to fit in to my previous dresses :)..

Thanks for alphabetizing flutrbug, I kept thinking I should do that after the list got past 20 or so, but didn't stop to make the time for it. I've had a really nutty week, but managed to only lose self control for a little while on Wednesday, the rest of the week has been okay and I'm down 1.1 pounds this week. I'm behind schedule for 30 by Christmas, but I'll take whatever I can get and be glad it's less rather than more by Christmas Day. Seriously if you figure that every year most of us gain 10-15 pounds during the holidays, if we only lose 15-20ish during this 14 week challenge, we're actually further ahead than what the scale shows.....

I just found out this afternoon that I got accepted to the Nursing program to finish my Bachelor's of Science. I start on January 10th. Now I have even more motivation to lose >30 pounds (40 total to be exact) before school starts....

Wont reach target by christmas but i know in the 9 weeks left i could happily take off a further 7lbs at least and that i couldnt do without the motivation of this thread. For that im thankful with whatever loss i achieve. |

I'm going to work very hard and shoot for 15-20lbs for Christmas. I've been on an almost two month plateau! Ugh! I think it's time to really clean up the diet again and exercise, exercise, exercise!
