Buddy who needs to lose 150 lbs. or more.
I'm looking at losing over 150 lbs.... I am looking for a partner/buddy who is as committed as I am and will stick it out for 2 years. I have a lot of support to offer, and could use a lot of support too! :) I have some fun ideas too...
If you are interested, you can respond on here or email me at [email protected] |
I'm male, but if that's OK, I'd be happy to lend support. I'm currently at 370 after 10 weeks or so staying around 1500 calories. Have been averaging 3lbs or so a week, depending upon how good I've been.
My ideal weight is supposedly around 175, but with all the extra skin, anything under 200 will be great so let's say I've got 170 to go. I lost around 200 lbs about nine years ago using fitday and ultralow calories but have since gained it all back. I'm doing this in a more sane, steady fashion this time (live and learn). Anyway, feel free to email me at [email protected] if you like. We CAN do this! Regards, Michael PS My wife and daughter are both trying to lose some weight as well, so I'm familiar with some of the "issues" concerning weight loss for females. |
I don't mind.. but we probably shouldn't be posting in the women's support group then, haha :)

But we're all here to fight the common enemy--fat--and to be honest, I'll take (and give) all the help I can. :) |
LOL.... That's true! :) I looked to see if you had your information public, but you haven't... If you do, you can request to add me as a friend on here, and then I can post messages to you...
|
Hi guys!
I would love to be a buddy, although I have just a little under 150 lbs. to destroy (I don't want to lose them... then I might find them someday, hehe). Feel free to add me as a friend here on FitDay. Let's do this! :D |
I started with 144lbs to lose to reach my goal weight and even though I'm ploughing through that at the moment I know it'll slow down and having buddies would be a great help for me too. This is for the long haul!
Anyone can feel free to email me; [email protected] ~*Boo*~ |
weightloss boo, you are already on my radar :) haha
|
smoosh.... Guess what? We live in the same area. LOL

LOL! Well, I don't know if its the same TOWN! LOL. I just saw that your profile said the adirondacks. I live in Plattsburgh.
|
I'm just a bit south of there, howdy neighbor! *wave* =) How are things going for you today?
|
Things are going okay today... Although I started the day off with exercise, which has made me want to eat all day... Usually at this time of night, I will be eating dinner, and sitting anywhere from 1400-1600 calories. Today I just finished dinner at almost 1900 calories!!!!
Carren, If you go to your home page... then search for a persons screename, if its public, it will show an option to add them :) |
Exercise makes me feel a bit hungrier too sometimes, but don't worry, you're probably burning off more calories than you took in today.
I really had to push myself to do my DVD today because I felt tired. But I did, and I'm glad I did. I actually feel more awake now. I'm a little hesitant to push myself too hard though. Going from zippo exercise to 5-6 days a week of activity is a big change. But I haven't missed a day yet, and I'm gonna try to keep this up. I might reach my mini-goal sooner than the end of the month, which would be ideal, but I know this initial drop in pounds is mostly water weight and not to be expected weekly. It does feel pretty good though to see the scale moving downward. :D PS - Porkchop is adorable! I love how you include so many great pics on your blog. |

Woo hoo! Awesome job Chunky! I need to settle on a weigh in day too. Saturday is as good as any I guess =). As of today, I have lost 8 lbs. HOORAY US! :D
I definitely don't expect to drop so much every week, and while this is probably water weight, I'm still real happy to see the scale heading downward. My body is so sore today. Did a lot of walking with hubby this morning as it was a gorgeous day outside, and it kicked my butt! LOL So I'm hobbling around the house atm. |
Hi Smoosh and ChunkyDunk - I am new here
Hi to you both, my name is Dana, I am new here even though my profile says I joined in 2002, I dont really remember that but, I am back and Very Serious about this now.
My starting weight today is 296 and my goal weight is 185, well 165 - 185 and I need some serious support. We have a treadmill here at home that I will be using until it cools off a little outside. Too Hot and muggy currently. My job is mostly a sit down job, some up and about, I have the summers off, and holidays too, I work for the school here with the Special Ed kids. Great group of kids. With the high school age. The first part of the summer i could not walk much because I had hurt my left side, that is all better now, and even my pants are feeling a little looser in back more so than they were before. My hubby wont listen to that part for some reason, just the pounds off not the supposed - he says - better fitting clothes. oh well, that is him, he has no weight that he needs to lose, But in other ways he is also a Great support too. He is Diabetic and I do not want to end up that way. Well jumping right in is sometimes the scariest thing to do, but what I have been doing best lately. Hugs and God Bless to you all. Dana |
I am thinking about creating a small group on facebook for just a few people who are really committed and really want/need extra support :)
What do my buddies think? ;) lol |
Hi Dana, welcome! :D The more support buddies, the merrier!
I joined FitDay originally in 2006, when my highest weight was 295, and I used it for a little while then stopped logging and checking in. Fortunately however, the initial weight I lost didn't creep back on. I think that was mostly due to cutting out fast-food entirely and soda. I did not do any exercise between then and my recent starting weight (265), but those changes were enough to help me drop the 30 pounds over 4 years. Now, that I've recently recommitted to health & fitness (as of 8/1), I've spent that past week using the FitDay tools, meeting new friends here on the forum, getting in some daily exercise, and portioning my food... and I just weighed in 10 lbs. lighter than a week ago! WOOT! Very excited about that, though I realize it's just the 'jump start' for my body and mostly water weight. I am trying to keep myself focused & motivated by thinking about my goals everyday. I've posted notes on my PC Desktop, fridge, bathroom mirror with encouraging reinforcements. I'm also trying to read/view as many success stories as I can to show me that anyone can do this... including me! So good luck to you, and welcome! --- @Chunky - What is your next mini-goal? Do you exercise everyday? Or a few days a week? When is your next blog post due? I love reading it! LOL |

What do my buddies think? ;) lol But I promise to keep up with you here and on your blog. I am SERIOUS about this weight loss this time! It just feels different than my attempts in the past, and I'm excited about that. |

I don't have a Facebook. :( My hubby keeps bugging me to get one, but I just haven't wanted to. I used to have MySpace and got tired of checking it and I have some weird aversion to posting on social networks.

It just feels different than my attempts in the past, and I'm excited about that. haha, I know a couple people like that... A co worker/friend of mine refuses to get a FB account. Anyways, I take it take means you don't have a blog either LOL... BTW, I had a moment of realizing just HOW fat I have gotten the other day... I have a new roomate-- no clue what she weighs, but less than 150, I would guess... (i'm so bad at that)... I accidentally pulled a tanktop of hers out of the dryer yesterday... All I could think was HOLY SHIT, this thing is TINY! But really, its just normal sized.... Honestly, I don't think my clothes have been that small since 5th grade... (I didn't really get chubby until after 7th grade, and kept getting fatter and fatter)... I can't even imagine what I would look like at 150 lbs. I imagine myself as being a toothpick at that weight, LOL... but I don't think 150 is a toothpick... its just my mis-perception! |
I am the same way. I was 60 lbs. in kindergarten, and always overweight for every age thereafter. I do recall in high school losing a little bit of weight -- though I was still chunky -- I think I got to 175 lbs.. It's hard to remember how I felt then, but I'm sure I probably still felt fat. What I wouldn't give to be 175 lbs. today! LOL
I've had that same realization over 'normal clothing' when I visit my sister in Florida. She has always been petite, same height as me, but normally weighted. She can still shop for items in the juniors' section, though she doesn't. But she has terrible eating habits. I think her daily nutrition consists of coffee, pretzels and an occasional candy bar. She moves around a lot, maintaining her home mostly, but doesn't do the gym or fitness classes. Since we live so far apart now, I kind of want to surprise her by getting healthier & more fit, which would really make her happy. She knows that I've tried a lot over the years, and she's always been supportive, but I think it would fun to just show up there in March (next visit I have planned) and be like "TADA! Look at me!" =) We can do this Chunky! Knock on wood I haven't been feeling depraved of any foods and I really haven't felt too hungry. I've been substituting fruits & veggies for all those processed snacks I used to eat, and even my ice cream cravings (which used to be daily) haven't been bad. As for blogging, I do love to write, but I have no idea who would read it. And it wouldn't be as nice as yours with all the pictures -- which I love the visuals. |
My roomate is the same way--- her groceries are oreos, snack bars, etc. LOL.
I would read your blog :) LOL. And its easy to add pics... I use my cellphone to take pics, email them to myself and just upload them... it doesn't take long :) |
I might have to consider a blog then. Though, it'd probably become a billboard in the desert full of cobwebs after a time. I'm great at starting things, but terrible at finishing them. That's something I really want to work on about myself -- completing what I set out to do.
Especially when it comes to these lifestyle changes I'm making. :p |
Hiya Buddies! How's it going today?
I woke up feeling a little hungrier than usual, but I managed to still choose wisely at breakfast and drank a little extra water. I think part of that feeling was subliminal, as I was watching YouTube videos last night on weight loss transformations and workouts. As I perused the many, many videos on there -- I came across one girl who went on a 40 day water fast for God. Now, I admire anyone who has spiritual conviction, regardless of their religion, but I found her videos so disturbing. She did three consecutive 40-day water fasts and looked utterly emaciated by the end of them. I was afraid she was going to die, and I couldn't stop watching it. It didn't inspire me at all, it made me fearful for her. While she wasn't doing it for weight-loss, it made me think of all the people out there who try drastic measures just to drop pounds quickly (of which I have done in the past myself, but very limitedly) and how, inevitably, the weight just comes back on and then some. This time I feel very different about it. While I want to see the numbers on the scale drop, I really don't care how long it takes. I want to change my life, I'm finally 'ready'. I want to be someone who enjoys exercising daily. I want to be someone who really looks forward to healthy, natural foods and who doesn't rely on food for more than sustenance. I have been trying to focus every day on these goals. I am reading about health & fitness, I am putting motivational notes everywhere, and I am making it priority #1. Anyway, sorry for the long ramble, but I hope you guys are doing well and feeling fine! Let's get fit!!! =) |
Hey Buddies :) lol
I'm going to challenge myself for the rest of this week... I NORMALLY drink 100 oz. of water, exercise 15 mins (sometimes more), and eat up to 2000 calories. Starting today, I am challenging myself to drink 120 oz, exercise 30 minutes, and eat up to 1800 calories! I weigh in on Saturday, and I NEED to see at least a 2-3 lb loss. (OK, I don't need it, but I really really want it!) So I am stepping it up a notch! Anyone else want to push themselves this week? :) |
Excellent idea Chunky! I'm ready to step it up a notch too!
I have been trying to get in some activity (movement) for at least 20 minutes everyday thus far. I would like to shoot for a 30 minute (minimum cardio) workout 3 days this week, and 3 days of light-weight training. I have been eating about 1600 calories a day, and feel comfortable at that, so I may leave things there. But I can always drink more water. I'm getting about 64 oz. a day and can bump that up to 80 - 100, but I don't want to get water logged. LOL I'm also trying to absorb as much motivational material, books, videos, etc. as I can. I have a desktop wallpaper on my PC that says "Eat to Live, Don't Live to Eat" and I'm about to go to library to see if there are any new fitness DVDs for me to borrow. BTW, I saw an add on the local Craigslist from someone looking to start a 'Weight Loss Group' and seeking buddies. I thought, "Hey, is that Chunky's post?" But I wanted to mention it in case it wasn't, because that might be another avenue of support for you. =) Have a great week buddies! I'll check in later today or tomorrow. :D |
Hi Buddies!
Just wanted to post, as I haven't done so in this thread for a few days. How is your week going? I read your blog yesterday Chunky and it sounds like you have a lot of fun stuff going on. Your meal pics have looked great and I'm really glad that you're doing some of the fun activities with your friends that you have planned. I saw you are starting a book club too? How fun! The scale isn't moving as much for me the past few days, but that's ok, because I'm losing inches. I can feel it in my clothing and I think today I am going to sift through my dresser and start pulling out my 'fat clothes' to box up and either donate to Goodwill or sell at our next garage sale. Did you join the gym yet? I read you were going to do that too. Good luck to you hon, so proud of you! Keep up the great work. PS - Where are the other buddies at? Don't be shy! Post an update! |
Smoosh- that was my ad on CL haha.
Yes, I am starting a book club (woot woot)! Why, are you interested? :P LOL Anyways, I am going to the gym tonight to check it out and whatnot (sign up?) I have never eaten this well for this long in my whole entire life. Seriously, I have not even justified one reeses pb cup LOL. I HAVE had a couple "treats"... a mini peppermint patty one day, a 3 musketeers mint bar one day, and junior mints a different day (actually I ate half the box one day and half the next LOL-- and yes, it was the small box).... But those fit into my calories for the day (they were my snacks)... And I didn't feel deprived. i could barely finish the 3 musketeers (even though the mint kind are pretty small), but it seemed sooo sweet. The other stuff is going well. I have definitely done the more exercise... my calories have been averaging about 1600... as for water, some days i managed 120, others still only 100. Like I mentioned on the other thread, I decide to kick it up a notch and the scale decides to let me down LOL. Tomorrow is my official weigh in, so I will let ya know how that turns out. Where are the rest of the buddies who wanted to be held accountable?! Ahem. |
I would love to join your book club, but my hubby and I are sharing a car atm and trying to cut down on 'excess miles'. Maybe you can let me know what you're reading and if I can pick it up at the local library I'll contribute feedback as a 'remote member'? LOL
My calorie intake this week has hovered between 1500 - 1800 calories per day for the most part. I haven't given in to temptation (yet), but I know that I have to learn how to deal with my trigger foods -- like pizza & ice cream. I haven't missed them too much so far, but when the craving comes, I am going to face it head on and know that I can handle it. Let me know how it goes at the gym. Part of me would like to find a fitness center, but it'd have to be close to my home for me to use it. Fortunately I have a treadmill, which gets boring, but is useful to have. I have been doing segments on the Biggest Loser DVD, though I really have to push myself to get started. Once i'm into it though it's easier. Today I feel a little more tired than usual, so I may take a cat nap for 20 minutes and see if that helps. =) I used MapMyRun.com to figure out the distance around my block, and one lap is .37 mile. So, I guess I did walk just over half-a-mile yesterday by doing two laps! Yay me! Eventually I want to be able to walk to the library and back, but there are some steep inclines, so I have to work up to that. Have any fun weekend plans? |
I had an 'obvious' revelation today. I sit on my butt way too much!!! LOL
I work from home and am on the PC a lot, both for business & recreation. Since I've recommitted to a healthier lifestyle, I'm paying closer attention to how I'm eating and spending my time -- and wow -- I need to get up and move far more than I have been. The good news is, I have been! I just finished 30 minutes of low-impact aerobics on that Biggest Loser DVD -- despite not really feeling up for it before I started. I looked back on my calendar for the month and every day (except 1) has activity on it, and I only log workouts not incidentals. So RAH RAH RAH! :D Almost halfway through the month and I'm really proud of the progress so far. What are you up to today CD? What book is your book club reading right now? I'm almost finished with "Thin for Life" and I picked up two more books at the library yesterday -- one about Pilates for Beginners and the other about Yoga. Just looking for some alternatives to keep me interested in exercise so I don't get burnt out on walking / aerobics. Have a fun weekend! PS - I've been achieving my water goals for the week too! |
Can I Join in
I have 170 that I want to loose. I am just starting out. If you want you can email me at [email protected]

I'm New to This Thread
Hi All,
I am just exploring FitDay and what it offers. I have started my food log, but haven't been consistent. I need to be because I have special dietary restrictions: low phosphorus, low sodium, low protein. I have MPA (microscopic polyangiitis) - autoimmune disease attacks small blood vessels and has caused me 50% kidney function loss that my doc says is permanent now. Also affected my lungs, but lung doc says I'm getting better. I was up to 329 lbs, but now at 312 lbs. It is slow going for me, but I'm happy for the losses so far. I find I need the daily interaction with others. I'm looking forward to your daily posts (and mine, too) to assist us in keeping going. |
hey all, signed up on here ages ago but never really used it, things have gotten out of hand now on the weight front so went to see a dietican recently and shes given me a claoire count to stick too each day. will try and pop in here when every in online to update my profile.;)
