Hi folks I'm new here. I had a gastric bypass on 4/9. Looking for advice on exercises to burn fat and spare muscle. Also hoping to meet some folks and be mutually supportive.

Sorry you didn't get any immediate replies. I have been busy with work and life and just got back on today. I would suggest you find a weight lifting routine. Check out Bodybuilding.com (free site). Their forum has some advice for newbies. I would tell you to lift heavy (6 repetitions to failure for 3-4 sets). If you do weights and cardio on the same day do the weights first. Weight training will help you retain muscle. Cardio can burn more calories but you will burn off muscle along with the fat. Good luck on your journey.

I know this is in the men's section, but I just wanted to comment and say that I love your goals in your signature. There is nothing better than either of those goals! Best wishes in your journey!

Thanks guys for the replies. Everyday since I've had surgery I'm learning to rethink my relationship with food.
