Best time for Protein Shakes?

Hey guys

New on here but old to weightloss, well trying to lose anyway!

Waiting on some protein powder to arrive works out about 90 calories with 23g grams of protein. I manage to eat alot of protein most days but want to use shakes on harder training days, to bring my protein numbers up or just to bring my calorie amount up.

I'm thinking of using them after working out as I'm not hungry for a while after working out so find it hard to feed my muscles. My activities are mostly running for a couple of miles or biking for 5 miles, occasionally on the punch bag, alot of core work, alot of walking, free weights a few times a week and also kettlebell ciruits a few times a week.

Any tips are greatly received.

Thanks

You can use the protein shake post-workout to refuel. You can also take a pre-workout protein shake 30 minutes to an hour before your workout. There are conflicting ideas as to which is ultimately the most effective. The post workout method is used by most that I know. The important thing is to get the protein your body needs to build and repair muscle.

Thanks Ron.

I'm hoping when they turn up that I can use one in the evening to crave my sweet tooth. Been bad for a long time at eating 800 ish calories late mostly carbs and sugar :( will perform my weight sessions at night with protein shake.

If you are looking to satisfy a craving you can add a little fruit like strawberries, some crushed ice and some milk instead of water for a great shake/dessert.

Whey= Fast digestion = post workout
Casein = Slow digestion = day time (if it'll be a while between meals) or bed time.
