opting out
Hello guys. I am just checking in after a long break from fitday and from my diet. The wedding went off without a hitch and the honeymoon cruise was an absolute blast. When all is said and done, I was off my plan for a little over a month, and I put 14 pounds back on. I am still well below what I weighed at the beginning of this journey, but I think I need to opt out of the 10% by Thanksgiving challenge. Staying in it would mean I need to lose another 35 pounds by then, and that just doesn't seem realistic. Best of luck to all of you who are continuing the challenge.

Count me in! At my current weight, I would need to lose 25 pounds for 10% more by new years. Is there a separate discussion board running for that challenge? (I will check in there if I find it)

Hey Ken,
Ease up on yourself. It's Thanksgiving! You'll get back on track next week. As for me, same thing. Bad weekend. Good week though. I was down by Saturday but up again on Monday. Monday seems to be a bad day to weigh myself for some reason. I was down quite a bit on Saturday.
I have 2 questions to anyone:
1. How can I make sure the BMR ascribed to me is accurate? I don't trust it and also, it goes out the window on weekends. I do office work but on weekends I am running errands and stuff around the house and yard. So I don't think there is any way the BMR for my weekends is accurate (and probably not during the week either).
2. If it takes a 3500 calorie deficit to lose 1 pound, why does it seem like if I have a small overage for a few days in a row, like 300 x 3 days, I gain a pound or more? Are the two things correlative?

It's pretty normal to have shifts in weight even if you don't go over your calorie budget. You may even gain weight some days, but as long as the overall trend is down you are in good shape

No Loss, No gain...
Forgot to post yesterday...
Well, was bound to start hitting some weeks where nothing changes. No loss or gain this week, and intake was about the same, so I'm attributing it to a little more sedentary work, and maybe more sugars that are empty carbs. Really wish Fitday allowed you to record daily sugar intake along with the carbs, fats and protein. But, still on track to hit the Thanksgiving goal. This weekend and beginning of next week will be a challenge though, with some significant travel for both pleasure and business on tap. I'm hoping I'm more aware and disciplined on the food quantity and substance because of this little program. We'll see...
