So people keep telling me not to lose anymore weight...
I am 4 lbs away from my original goal, about 8 lbs from what I would really feel happy with. ( I can't believe I can say that!) :D
People keep telling me not to lose anymore, that I'm fine. blah blah I just want to lose a few more. Do people say that to you guys too? And what do you say? Thanks!!! :) ~kim |
Way to go Kim!

Thanks!!! :) ~kim Yup, I get that from time to time. Sometimes it is from folks who are just plain jealous that I have accomplished something they haven't been able to. Sometimes it is a sincere (if misguided) concern for my health and wellbeing. And sometimes it is a playful way of complimenting my success. In most cases I can just say "Ah, thanks for noticing. I feel so much better at this weight than I ever did before." And let it go with that. Since I am extremely happy with my weight and fitness, I almost never let it undermine what I know to be the best thing for me. :p |
Ugh, my mother, every stinking time I see her. Love her, but she makes me crazy.
|
I get that too, I usually say that I'm not losing more weight,I'm just getting leaner:D
|
Kim,
I use to get that a lot, not any more. I think that 163# for guy at 5'10" is pretty good. You have to do what's going to make you feel better. |
I got that a lot, too, not so much now, either.
When people get used to it, they generally stop making comments. Even my mom, who was famous for the comments, has stopped, and she's even defended me to other family members who called me too skinny. I never thought I'd see that day come...she just tells them I'm all muscle and very strong! This from a woman who, when I was 15-20 pounds higher, thought I was too thin then, let alone now. So I think it's basically what people get used to, and change throws a lot of people off, even if subconsiously. I think Pam has a good reply to that situation. Patience, grasshopper, and congrats on your hard work!! |

Yes they have. At times I puff my cheeks up & ask them you'd much rather have me this fat?
Then I tell them I reached my target weight & am working on getting 10% BMI |
10% BMI :eek::eek::eek: ???
|
I got that I didn't need to lose any weight by my future mother-in-law at the very begin of my diet, she was trying to be nice, but I reminded her how much I weighed and my height. I think she was more concern that I would go crazy with the weight loss. Now she asks me if the boyfriend and I can have the meal she's making for dinner and if there's anything she can make us. She's become supportive now and doesn't not say stuff like that to us anymore about the losing too much weight or anything.
My mom knows I need to lose the weight, so she never did that. Everyone else seems supportive from the beginning, but I guess, that's because I got to my goal weight before and people can tell I looked better then, lol. |

If you're being told you're too thin, get your body fat tested,. Then you'll know how much you can/should lose. |
Sometimes the change is kind of a shock to people, and their perception of you isn't the same as the your self-perception. you know better than anyone else what will make you happy and when u will feel "comfortable" with your body. that should always come first. but be wary, sometimes we have a distorted self-perception and see ourselves as fatter than we actually are. so long as you are wary of that too, you should be fine. :)

Working on losing this fat around my lower abdomen cuz it annoys the bejeezis out of me. Keeping a food log really does help A LOT when trying to loose weight. This site has been very helpful! |
the perfect reply
would be to laugh a little and say thank you, you are soo sweet, but I have a goal in mind, and I am not far from it.:D
