Default Photo: Before and After

As demanded:

This is the before:
A plant biologist doing biology things in the Mojave Desert:

These are the afters:

Run.
This was the end of a 14 mile trail race this past January (yup Jan. in SoCal is pretty sweet!) I came in 5th in my age group. Could have been 4th with a little better strategic plan, but numbers 1,2&3 were awesome. I couldn't catch them if I trained for the rest of my lime.

Bike:
That's me in the middle. DH is 2nd from the right. This was last summer at the Mt Bike Park in Mammoth Lakes.

Ski:
Actually this is an old photo. I don't have any of me in the new shape. You can't really see much in full downhill regalia anyway... but just needed to complete the triad.

We are working on one more pair of before and afters.

Thanks again...

Yeah it's a little late to start running, biking, let alone skiing.

But thanks CJ

Awesome! Actually you don't look the least bit out of shape in the "before" picture.

You look wonderful even in the before pic. Great!
I can run very slow, scare to go mountain biking, and would never skiing. LOL

You look fantastic and perhaps best of all, happy! Thanks for showing these

(by the way, you don't look anywhere near as old as you say you are! I think you're lying! )

I have been pretty active most of my life. So, except for a couple of years in graduate school I have always been relatively fit. But I have to say I still look at that picture and cringe a little bit. Maybe I just see more that anybody else does.

Mai, I challenge you to challenge yourself. Why not try skiing? I was 42 the first time I tried it. I am still a bit of a "speed weenie" but I just love the whole "I'm a skier" mojo. As for mountain biking there are all sorts of levels. I think it is one of the best family activities there is, as long as what you are doing is trail riding. I am more of a cross country rider - just on dirt rather than pavement. I have never been very interested in throwing myself down a mountain side at high speed .

I can produce my birth certificate!!!
But thanks Terri, very sweet of you to accuse me of lying . Most days I agree and can't believe I've been on this earth for 53 years. Then from time to time I am reminded that I don't heal as quickly, I certainly do not bounce like I once did, and man...I sure can get ornery when some whipper-snapper tries to tell me stuff I damn well already know!

Love to you all...

PS Mike, I see you are still logged in. Thanks for all of your wonderful humor and support - you have added a wonderful dimension to FitDay.

you look fantastic, Pam! I agree that you never looked heavy, but you look skinny now! Look at that muscle definition in your legs!! This is awesome! I hope to look like this when I'm 53.
