Reached my goal weight yesterday
Just wanted to share, I reached my goal of 130 pounds yesterday. I think the last time I was 130 was about twenty years ago. I figure I could lose another 10 for my height, but I have had several people recently congratulate me on my loss, but urging me not to lose any more.....why is that?
My plan is to continue to watch what I eat for the rest of my life, excercise daily because I enjoy it anyway, and if another 10 pounds happens to fall off in the future then it's because it's meant to, the same if it doesn't. Anyway, well done me, and a big, encouraging, grateful, group hug to all of you here wherever you are in your journey. I am loving the recent 100+ thread, that support and encouragement is going to be so vital to those guys, I am almost envious! I want to thank Deanna, (wherever she is) her weight loss pics and her success was such a wake up for me whem I first joined. I also want to thank Almeeker and lizzycritter, mike, efduncan and all the others who regularly post and keep these boards alive. You guys rock. (group hug) :D 04.01.2010 207 lbs UK size 20. 10.10.2010 130lbs UK size 12 (bordering on 10 depending on the style!) Never give up, never give in, be all you can be, and more! |
Woo Hoo!!! Congrats to you--that is a big accomplishment! :):):)
Enjoy your "new" life to it's fullest, but don't forget the past, if you know what I mean. If you want to lose a little more, I think I'd try to do it very gradually--perhaps more with exercise than cutting cals. Give you skin and mind a little time to catch up to the new you. Build a little muscle to give your metabolism a bump. You lost that 70 pounds pretty quickly and as you know, they can creep back if you are not vigilant (been there, done that). Again, congrats and thank you for your support in the 100 thread. Have a wonderful, healty weekend! Regards, Michael |
congrats!!! Great job!!!!!!! wooo whoooo!!!!!!!!!!!:D
I think it's pretty common for people to want you to quit losing. I was catching all kind of flack from my dad and some other a while back. I was constantly being told that I looked sick, looked like I needed to eat, had no butt, yadda yadda yadda... and I was probably 185 then. I haven't even seen my dad in a while b/c he's such an &%@*&%@, I can only imagine what he'd say now. He's probably think I'm dieing. |
Congratulations!!! You stuck with it and succeeded, YEAH!!! You give others hope that we can achieve our goals too.
As for people telling you to stop, it seems to me that no matter what, people always have something to say. We just have to listen to ourselves and what we feel and what we know is best and healthiest and as for the naysayers, just smile and nod, smile and nod and then do it your way!!! |
WOOOHOOOO and congratulations :D
At this point, keep the healthy habits a habit. Eat right, exercise, and let your body settle in. You know what's right for you, stick to it! |
You rock! Congratultions!

Thanks so much guys. I feel really good :)
Michael, I hear ya, and no way, not ever is that weight going back on. I have learned so much from my journey, and omg, some of the things I used to eat on a daily basis I couldn't even contemplate putting them in my mouth now! Mike, your Dad sounds like my Mum, she was my harshest critic when I was heavy, now she keeps going on at me for being 'too thin'! I guess some parents are never happy :D Canary, thank you so much! One of the main reasons I am here is to give back some of the help and encouragement I got when I first joined. Back then I didn't really believe I had it in me until I saw some of the successes here. My own loss seems paltry in comparison to some of those guys! Lizzy, encouraging as always, I thank you from the bottom of my heart :) nottango, I rock? I don't know about that, but I definitely don't 'roll' as much as I used to! :D I am thinking about posting some pics, I got rid of all my fat pics, but if I can find one from the family, I will post a before and after. I also found a skirt and a pair of trousers that I was wearing at the beginning of the year, might post the old 'comedy holding up the huge pants' pics soon. (I don't even think these were my largest, they are 18's and I was a 20 at the start, but boy, they are HUGE!) I want the newbies to know that it really is possible to achieve your goals. I want to show them, the way I was shown at the start that it really is possible to change your life. Thank you again guys for the support. xxx |

Yes, Glenda, you read my mind! Give us tips! How'd you do it? I seem to be stalled.
|
Way to go!
gallusgal ,
You and I started posting at about the same time early this year - at least that is my feeble recollection. I always enjoyed your insight, humor, and humility. I certainly hope that just 'cuz you reached your goal you won't fade away. (Although it is tempting - I know I did for a couple of months). You are an example to us all, and you should certainly post those pix! BTW I did (and am doing) the same thing once I reached the goal: hmmmm? I wonder what losing another 10# would look like. For me it has been worth it, even though I too have gotten the "haven't you lost enough already????" comments. Pam |
Congrats! Big high five!

Pam, thank you so much! I will be sticking around here, I am still using the site tools and love to pop over to the forums to have a wee read and see what's going on!
I never thought anyone would be asking me for tips, but Glenda, canary, here goes. Don't 'diet'...change your approach to food and excercise. Majorly important! Don't eat crap out of packets and boxes, eat fresh, non-processed food and be aware of your protein, carbs and fat intake. I eat lots of fish, chicken, fresh veg, fruit, an egg a day. I eat WW bread, I actually prefer it to the stodgy stuff that I used to eat. READ LABELS! Even so-called 'healthy' cereals can be full of surprises! Drink lots of water, every single day. ALWAYS have a bottle of water with you. Do exercise that you enjoy, and don't do so much at the start, if you overdo it you are likely to give it up. I enjoy running now, swimming, badminton, and I am best friends with the cross trainer at the gym. ;):) And thats it really. It's not a 'one size fits all' process, you have to find what works for you and really stick at it. If you do, after a while you adapt and start to NATURALLY make the right choices, your body enjoys the good nourishment and responds to it. I can say with confidence that I will never got back to my old ways, when I think about the stuff I used to eat it makes me feel physically sick and is very unappealing to me. Good luck, make your plan of what works for you and stick with it, it really isn't rocket science! :D |
Congrats
Congrats on meeting your goal. It is nice to hear from people who have made it to the end. I am about 4lbs away from my goal and I am have been hearing comments about not losing any more weight for a month now. I am 5ft3in and 154lbs. My goal is 150 but I think I might want to lose another 10lbs. I guess like someone posted earlier if it happens it was meant to be. I am not going to obsess about another 10lbs but it would be nice. Keep sharing and if you find the pics please post them. I need a new updated pic myself and the old holding up the pants would be a classic.

Congratulations, what a thrill that must be!

Glenda, I aimed very low at the start, 1000 cals. I took into account that I wasn't able to move around freely very much at that point, and the fact that actually, underneath all the blubber I was a very small person who had been eating about three times more than I needed for a very long time!
More important to me was what those calories were giving me. The food I was having had true, nutritional value and because I ate throughout the day, snacking on fruit like bananas and apples between my three main meals, I didnt really feel hungry. I broke all the rules when it came to eating times too; I work till eleven most nights, no way am I not eating after 6 or 7 o'clock.! I kind of got shot down in flames here in the forum for being at 1000, but it was working for me and I stuck with it till I felt physically able to move myself and as I started to get serious about my exercise regime I upped my calories accordingly. I wouldn't recommend what I did at the start to anyone else. Everyone is different and I can't really explain how, but I just knew that for me, it was right. I can't emphasise enough how important the TYPE of food I eat is, as opposed to the number of calories. To me, that is too much like 'dieting' which is a bit of a dirty word to me now. For example, my body always reacted badly to pasta and bread, yet at the same time, my body seemed to crave them. They made me feel bloated, sick to my stomach, and played havoc with my gutty-works, yet, I couldn't seem to get enough of them. I had to work with my body, listen to what it was telling me. That is really the best advice that I can give. When you diet, you cheat, and the only loser is yourself. Me and my body worked together to re-learn and undo an awful lot of bad habits over this last year. I shudder at the thought of going back to how much I was. In denial, how all the books, diets, regimes in the world were only blinkering me. This had to come from myself. Sorry for the ramble, but you did ask! :D Good luck, and do what's right for YOU, every journey is different, the start is different, but we all have it in us! |
I love what you had to say! "This only had to come from myself." (Awesome)
And what you said about certain foods bothering you and listening to your body. So worth it in the end. Your happiness shines through. A HUGE congratulations!!!! Thank you for posting this. :D |
What an amazing achievement! Congrats!

Congratulations on meeting your goal! Thank you for sharing, sometimes it's a bit hard to stay motivated but seeing the success of others who have worked hard and gotten the results they wanted is certainly inspiring. Kudos~

Lost another 6lbs, still listening to my body, happy with myself.
I have zero temptations for the foods I used to eat back when I was heavy. Back then I used to lie around the house in my spare time stuffing my face with disgusting stuff. Wondering why I had no energy. I've re-programmed my approach to food and exercise, and do you know what the amazing thing is? It didn't cost me a penny. I keep saying it; but you have to re-attune your mindset towards food, you have to educate yourself, and you have to listen to your body. Thank you Fitday :) |

hi and congrats to your success :) the quoted part from you is the part I need to ask you about: what did you do? I am asking because I crave bread and I feel like I need it too (and carbs, I could never go on trully low card eating style) - at the same time I know if I eat too much of it (yeah, defining too much - that's the hard question for me) I am bloated and crave more of it .... from what you said - what did you actually ended up doing regarding carbs, breads?

The only bread I eat is WW malted Danish, it makes the most delicious toast and sits well with my body (no 'repercussions'!!) I get most of my carbs from this and also high carb veg like beans, peas, parsnip. My body doesn't tolerate potatoes very well so I avoid them at all costs. I have the odd cracker, ryvita etc. I eat around 4-6 slices of WW danish a day. 50 cals per slice and yummy, and no bloat!

Weight Wathchers bread, Malted Danish. Absolutely delicious, light, and very tasty.

I am so happy to still see that you around and doing so great! I have not been able to get on these forums for MONTHS now. I got a new computer and something just was not working right. I have to get on in a round about way but I finally figured it out this morning. It has been driving me crazy!
