Movies for inspiration

Hi guys,
I dont know how about you, but I sometimes feels like my battery of inspiration is getting to an empty state. So in days like that, I like to grab some great inspiring movie (mostly about some sports but not necessarily) and it helps to get back to FULL CHARGE BATTERY state.

My favourite 3 movies for that are:
1. Remember the titans - love this one
2. Peaceful Warrior - i like the concept of awareness
3. Warrior 2011 - just saw

For non-sport movie I would say:
1. Finding forester
2. Instinct
3. Pursuit of Happyness

I wonder what are yours favourite movies for inspiration. Or maybe you've got other ways to inspire yourself? - books, music, etc ??

This one always does it for me:

Rudy

I'm sure I'll think of others.

wildbeanerz 02-09-2012 07:19 AM

I don't know why but my ultimate feel good movie is always Forrest Gump. I think it is just his sheer determination to make life better than it could be for someone in his situation. :)

Miracle is a GREAT movie! Even though you know the outcome, it still pumps you up! And Eddie Cahill **swoon** :p

TopGun always does it for me too. Rudy is a good one, as pointed out by Vito. Facing the Giants is also a really great movie. Not sure how you would feel about the Christian aspects of it, but it is a really great movie.

I'm sure I have more, just drawing a blank right now.

The Mighty Macs is a great sports movie. Not sure when it should be coming out on DVD, it was in theaters not long ago. It is suitable for the whole family as well.

One movie that I think is inspirational is La Vie en Rose. It is a foreign movie, so you kind of have to be ramped up for the subtitles, yet it is good! (it has nothing to do with sports.)

I agree with Glenn Close on this "It's an American Fairy Tale"

The Natural

Very deep and inspiring on many levels.

Guys this list is already HUUUUGE and I think it will grow bigger and bigger.

And I love that there are so many inspirational movies that I didnt see :)

Btw I just saw Never Back Down and I must say that quality of the screenplay is poor, but as a inspiration for training - its great :D after that my workout was awesome and extra intense :)

wildbeanerz 02-10-2012 06:59 AM

Never Back Down is a very good movie!

Stand and Deliver

I remember having to watch it in school, and thinking UGH this is a waste of time. I watched again not too long ago and though OMG that's a good movie!!

Kathy13118 02-11-2012 04:08 AM

Great gymnast movie (and the music is ipod-worthy): Stick It.
Amazon.com: Stick It: Jeff Bridges, Missy Peregrym, Vanessa Lengies, Jon Gries: Amazon Instant Video

But I will definetely check on soundtrack. Few more good songs for working out cant hurt :D

Kathy13118 02-13-2012 06:56 AM

If you click on the link, you can watch the trailer. Two amusing pieces of dialog:
(from alpha girl gymnast): 'It's not called gym-nice-tics...'

(from one teenage boy to another, watching girl gymnasts compete): 'Dude, how did we not know about this...'

Cute!

1fitchallenge 02-17-2012 05:28 AM

Yes, after watching the trailer it came back to me :)
it was a good movie, bit to "girly" for me but still, good movie!
and its about hard training so, it matches this list we are doing here :D

Tamera22 02-26-2012 09:47 AM

Good Deeds from Tyler Perry is a good movie

ToriD1012 02-26-2012 02:48 PM

One of my all time favorite movies to get me all inspired is The Replacements. I know it's a silly little comedy about a group of ragtag football players, but by the end when Shane says "I know you're tired. I know you're hurting and I wish I could say something classy and inspirational, but that just woudn't be our style. Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory... lasts forever." Well, it gets me every time. Oh, and the quicksand quote.

frenchhen3 02-28-2012 02:09 AM

One of my favorite movies of all time is "The Three Burials of Melchiades Estrada".

It is in NO WAY a sports movie! The lesson it teaches is in all cases "to do the right thing".
It's very much a guy movie, not so much a girl movie, but I am a girl and I LOVED it! Stars Tommy Lee Jones, Dwight Yoakum... was filmed in West Texas, beautiful scenery, great soundtrack.

yauncin 03-07-2012 05:02 AM

I don't think anyone has mentioned any of these:

Braveheart
Dead Poet Society
Good Will Hunting
Rocky
The Ultimate Gift
The Notebook

SteveO20 03-12-2012 05:15 PM

Friday Night Lights (the movie and series)
Varsity Blues
The Rundown
Walking Tall
Warrior (worth mentioning again)

Also, anything with MMA and wrestling.
huge UFC fan am I. Find myself watching FX, Spike, Fox and Fuel since UFC seems to be in heavy rotation as of late. (yay!)

Sometimes going to an environment where you know nearly everyone there is trying to do their own work, like a nice library, can help.
