The last book I've read was The Giver, by Lois Lowry, I rated 5/5 stars.
This book surprised me, I didn't expect it to be that good! It makes you be grateful for the life we have, the world we're living in (although there are many things wrong with people who create war).

The Man Who Loved Children by Christina Stead
So difficult to stay interested in this book. Yet, it has been so much praised that I feel like I should stick with it!
Christina Stead was Australian and the book was written in 1940. It sounds like it could be a story about the twisted desires of a dirty old man, but it is not. It's so difficult to read that it will probably take a while for me to ever get to the real heart of the story, which is about a dysfunctional family. The woman, Christina Stead, does have obvious talent, but reading the book, so far, has been slow going for me.
