Default Kitchen Countertops

I've wanted to know what should I pay attention to when buying a kitchen Countertops? Which material is the best and still looks good after being used for many years? I've found some information here but I am also interested in your personal experiences.

Are you working with contractors to renovate your kitchen? They are the best source. If you are making changes (I'm assuming you aren't making it a DIY project), there is cost involved .as well as design and color considerations. You can ask friends or co-workers for recommendations for contractors, who will then give you lots of suggestions. That was my experience when we renovated. I have no idea how much skill is involved when you pick one item to replace at a time. It's usually a matter of hiring local people, too - so that means more recommendations from friends!
