Welcome Kelsy83,
It takes a little practice to figure out the food log, but once you do it will be well worth the effort. Not sure I can answer your first question about total calories .

But I can answer the steamed veg question. The best way to log veggies (and many other foods as well) is to log them as "raw". Then add anything else you might have put on them like butter or sour cream. The various "cooked" options often include added calories for fats, salt, and other things that you may not have actually used. I do this for meats as well. Besides it is easier to weigh stuff before it is cooked... if you know what I mean . It is kind of hard to fish out all the chicken pieces added to my chicken soup after the soup is cooked. :D
