Unhappy too slow!!!

if we are paying R40 000 per month for broadband and it takes 5 mins to upload one meal - this site is way too slow - its easier to just write my food down in a book and calculate calories as i go. 1500 calories per day is way too much for me anyway - i'll be as big as a house - who calculates these things?.

Hi Lallitha,
Sorry you are disappointed with the site. Are you useing the 2.0 version or the Classic version? I have found that Classic runs a little faster even if it doesn't have all the perks of 2.0. As for the calorie thing - it is the best guess for the "average" person given your height and activity level. Since there is not such thing as an average person , all of us have had to make an adjustment here or there. For example, I am pretty active during the day, but if I select "active" for the lifestyle FitDay calculates a calorie load the is way to high for me too. So I use "sedentary" with seems to work out OK.

I hope you can work through the quirks of the site, because it really is a fabulous tool for getting a handle on eating a exercising habits.

Don't hesitate to ask....

Welcome to FitDay!

As far as the 1500 calorie consumption calculation (boy that was a tongue twister) that is ultimately calculated by you. It is then tweaked based on the activities that you log, such as sleep, etc. If you feel that number is too high you can always adjust it by going:
Activities > Customize Metabolism > use one of the formulas provided by FitDay OR use a custome baseline.
Many people have lost a lot of weight by consuming 1500 calories a day, 1500 isn't a lot. If anyone thinks they will get as big as a house on 1500 calories a day, they should start weighing everything they consume b/c they, may actually discover that they are consuming more than what they originally thought.

As far as speed, as stated above classic may be faster than 2.0. With either it doesn't take me 5 minutes to upload one meal, no matter how big my meal is or what internet I'm on... even on my phone. I am a premium member though and I believe that premium may run faster than regular membership.

I'm guessing from what you're paying that you're not in the US.

Are local sites(in your country) faster? What about other sites here in the US?
When you access a website, it's not a direct line to your computer. The "info packets" are routed through any number of nodes along the way. Packets can even take different routes depending on second to second conditions along the way. Your computer then assembles these packets in their correct form.

Sometimes there can be a bottleneck along the way that slows overall transmission speeds.

Give Speedtest a try.
