Newbie: old age & flab :-(
Not a very appealing subject heading, I know.
I did a search but didn't find what I was looking for.
I'm a 64 year old female. I've dropped 30# since last summer, which brings me into my target range of 130#.
I enjoy regular exercise, and I have been able to change my eating habits from sloppy/careless to healthy/attentive.
I'm very happy with my weight loss and all the benefits it brings.
But, is there *anything* I can do about the flab I'm left with? Short of liposuction of course.
Am I too old to turn flab into muscle?
Which forum should I participate in?
Are there any other old people out there? I'd love to hear from you.

Val, welcome to FitDay.
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you--I have (and will have even worse, eventually) the same problem--excess skin. Short of surgery and/or trying to tone the underlying muscles I don't know what to do.
I'm sure others will offer up some suggestions.
Regards,
Michael

I'm a little younger but have lost nearly 100 pounds, so I too have excess skin. My current strategy is to build up the muscles beneath the worst areas and so far it's working. If I hold my elbows up I have maybe an inch of extra skin that hangs down below my upper arms, but it goes away almost completely when I flex my muscles. Now I have to figure out how to get that going on yon saggy fanny. I also think as time goes on the amount of extra skin is going down, so I'm going to wait a year or two before I contemplate surgery of any kind. I do have a goofy belly button that needs some work, so I suspect I'll get the tummy tightened up at the same time.
