Starting late - but starting!
 
I'm 64, too small across the chest and too big around the belly, with little strength and no stamina. So I gave myself a birthday present -- I decided to change this.

At this point (which is the beginning), I am trying this:
-- Intermittent fasting: not eating til lunch time.
-- On work days, I get up at 4am. I can do 5 minutes on the eliptical (home machine), then get ready and go to work.
-- On non-work days, I try to push out 10 min on the eliptical, do some chest and shoulder stretches, then some arm movement and squats with a 6-pound medicine ball.

The IF is difficult on work days. My job is a lot of sitting or standing while waiting -- read that as "lots of boring". Add in getting up that early, and I often attack my lunch box before 9, with total destruction by 3!

So one of my first questions is how to get past that morning "feed me everything!" jolt?? (Someone mentioned "bulletproof coffee"??)

Welcome, Ed. You've taken a very responsible step. You're a lot of people to look up to. Ed starts eating small meals. Start with oatmeal and fruit. Don't go hungry. Hunger kind of makes us lose weight, but afterward we pounce on food and gain a lot of weight. Eat small portions, but often. First three times a day after four and after six. This way you will speed up your metabolism and train your body to absorb the right amount of nutrients. And don't forget fiber. Good luck on your journey and stay healthy.
