Post Kicking the Habit, One Cheeseburger at a Time

I'm new to this type of thing. I figured that if I kept a "diary" of sorts, it would be easier for me to do this.

I am 19 years old and have struggled with weight all my life. This year I have decided to throw away the nonchalant attitude and take a serious interest in my well being.
I am an emotional eater and have an addictive relationship with food. I don't want to let my weight dictate what I should wear, how I should eat in front of others, and whether or not I can fit into a them park ride.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love curves and I'm not in this to look like a pencil. (No offense meant to anyone) I want to be able to feel comfortable about myself and not stress over the fact that they're staring at me because I look like a beluga whale. (I'm paranoid like that.)

Keeping my diet in check with also help with keeping my priorities straight. As an emotional eater, almost anything sets me off into a snacking frenzy. Most especially when I'm bored.

My target weight is about 130-140. I am currently at 330lbs. (Approx.) I don't fancy spending my 20's like how I spent my teens. Unhappy.

I know its going to be a long and arduous journey, but its one that I need to make if I'm going to be able to enjoy MY life unhindered. The time has passed to try and fit into this image of what society and most especially my family, thinks I should be.

I'm too young to sit back and contemplate the advantages of liposuction, the lapband, or getting a gastric bypass.

Life is in session and I'm finally present.

Welcome aboard. I have to say that I applaud your new attitude. I wish I had gotten in to some healthier habits earlier in life. You might want to check out some of the 100+ threads. There is one for ladies only and a unisex version. Both are really good and full of people in this for the long haul.

Welcome! I think you're very wise to get control of this problem now. I'll tell you that if you get serious the weight will come off very fast. If you wait 'till your older, well, it's not quite so easy.

Feel free to join us in the 100+ thread, if you like. We all know where you're at and the challenges you face.

Regards,
Michael
