RoseDanese 01-03-2010 04:22 PM

I just started too. This is a great start on this website. Think of how good you will feel each day of success.

mliebeck 01-04-2010 06:56 AM

Me too!!!

I am also new... and would love some great motivational tips... Also I do not mind networking with anyone and maybe having some good support!

babypinkbunny 01-04-2010 01:44 PM

what a great tool this is! I'm with you guys! I'm a newbie with about 30 lbs to lose over the course of 4 months is my goal. What are your goals and how will you achieve them?

Destinyschoice76 01-04-2010 02:43 PM

Hello,
I am a newbie also!
I am hoping to lose 40lbs in 6 months. I am really just paying closer attention to what I eat so far. Just by doing that today, I ate way less than I usually would.

My motivations are to be healthier, avoid health problems in the future such as diabetes, high BP, High choloesterol, etc. I have a 2 yr old son and want to be my healthiest for him, and be around for a long time! Both of my parents died young.
One motivational tool I am using...Yesterday, I actually wrote down my reasons to lose weight. I wrote them in an MS Word document and have it saved on my desktop, so I see it often. Actually writing down my reasons was helpful, it gave a voice to my goals.

Good luck all! I look fwd to getting and giving support!

-Tami

Tami,
Good Luck with your weight loss. I seem to have an issue with actually eating 6 small meals, I end up eating only lunch and dinner... so today is my first day of eating multiple small meals. I woke up this morning and did about 25 minutes of working out after I dropped the kids to school and I am feeling great! As I said before I am looking to lose about 30 pounds and I am trying to be realistic and give myself till June 1st. I wish you the best and would love too share info and maybe even help motivate others too.... especially those with similar goals.... I guess I need to buy a scale, I always hated those things!

Anyone that is looking to have someone to "buddy up" with in working to their goals just let me know....

Good Luck Everyone, we are all beautiful!:D

KrissyTaps 01-05-2010 04:43 AM

Hi - I am a newbie too and doing this with my best friend as she is getting married in June and I want to look my very best for her (and myself!). I have a few concerns that are keeping me motivated - I am about to turn 30 and I know with age comes more chance of health issues. I want to be as fit and healthy as I can be to prevent or combat whatever could come my way! Also, my son will be one and half this summer and I want him to see me as an active parent - not someone who sits around all day and has no interest in the outdoors - I want us to get outside and play together! The one motivational "tool" that I am using is Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred - I think the whole idea of doing something for 30 days is completely reasonable, and since I don't have to go to the gym, I know that I will carry it on for far longer. I started yesterday and almost died, but just finished day 2 and it did it no problem (I think I needed to eat closer to the workout yesterday). I am so proud of myself!! Best wishes to everyone for your weight loss and increased health success - we CAN and we WILL do this! ~ K

Hi BBpink! I am looking to lose about 22 lbs in 5 months. I have committed to reducing my caloric intake by planning all my food intake and counting calories and I am committed to working out 5 to 6 days a week. Good luck!

candigirl29 01-05-2010 06:33 AM

Hi all!
I am also new to Fitday. I'm really enjoying this website and I hope it helps all of us achieve our goals. I would like to lose 20 lbs by the end of March but ideally would like to make it to 30 lbs soon after :). It would be great to make some diet friends for encouragement, share stories and maybe healthy yummy recipes. Tomorrow will be 1 week of healthy eating and I'm looking forward to stepping on the scale. I hope it gives me good news!!

Hi:

This website is phenomenal. I am new. I am hoping to lose about 40-50 lbs in about 6-8 months.

I would love any feedback, ideas etc. What I am doing is trying to be healthy.
Have a good breakfast, lunch, and in evening drink Whey shakes. This is new to me...and I am not in 7-heaven over it. Anytype of feed back anyone has regarding any pointers for losing weight....I am all in!!

I'm a newbie too. I used this site around 8 years ago (it wasn't nearly this thorough back then!) to lose 35 lbs. Now I am here to lose 57 lbs and I am giving myself the year to do it in, and if I accomplish it sooner, great, and if I make some progress, that is great too. I am drinking more water, logging everything I eat, and going to the gym at least 4 times per week. I'm 46 yrs old, and find it very hard to lose any weight at this age, even though I don't eat a lot of calories normally. I'm going to try to be healthy every day this year, not over "goal" myself, and see where I end up. Glad to be here!!!!

parallax693 01-05-2010 07:30 AM

If this is too personal, don't feel that you have to answer it, but I was wondering; how old people are on this site? Do we have a big range? thanks for sharing how much you want to lose. I'm very excited to be starting this journey, and feel very motivated. My best tip is to not to try to do too many new things at once. Ease into your new habits and add another one as you get comfortable. I gave up french fries, and then 2 weeks later I subsitituted water for every other diet cola I normally would drink. I'm trying to be healthy about what I chose to eat, but not fanatical. I probably won't give up drinking a glass of wine at night until I reach a plateau. stuff like this helps me out. Its a lifetime commitment so you have to ease into it.

Destinyschoice76 01-05-2010 07:38 AM

I am 33, will be 34 Jan. 30th.

I agree with what a prev. poster said. That we have to ease into this as a lifestyle change. At least I know that I have to. I have started eating healthy, counting the calories and I am doing well so far, day 2 - woo hoo! LOL I plan to add exercise soon. I love to use the ellipticall at the gym, wish I had one at home!!

I was also wondering, what others do - do you work full time, part time? Are you a stay at home mom (work 24hrs!) ? I am a full time, Rehab Case Manager. I work about 40-50hrs/week and am a mom to a 2 yr old, and wife to a great husband. My biggest challenge is eating on the road ( I travel locally to appt's) and finding the time to keep at the healthy eating, exercise, logging what I eat, etc. How do you find the time? Any tipe for eating on the road. Taco Bell does have a goo "fresca" menu I believe it is called, which is low cal. It is yummy.

I would love to buddy up with anyone. I need all the help I can get =) and am glad to give it as well.

Hang in there, girls!! :)

im new to this website as of today. and i was wondering on tips any of you ladies can give me i just had a baby 3 months ago.

kathietaylor 01-05-2010 04:41 PM

Hi all, I am another newbie!! I am old, I think, compared to a lot of you. I am living the last year of my 40s and would like to see 50 at my goal weight!

I am prediabetic, cuz I didn't take care soon enough! Bad me! And I have high cholesterol, same story! I am a great example of what NOT to do. I have suffered with a bad sugar addiction, which I am working on. Doing well so far, on day 5!! LOL!!

For the first couple of weeks I plan to be fairly brutal with myself, maybe longer, then I will see about easing off a wee bit. If I see success I can continue, if I don't I will quit, I know myself that well.

So if anyone is looking for a diet buddy, in my age group, who wants to be pretty serious for a couple of week, I'm IN!!

Hi Tami,
I've tried the 6 small meals and it was working well until I got lazy...it will work but remember to plan ahead and have those small snack like meals available :) I was thrilled by the fact I didn't feel hungry using this diet. I'm getting back on the diet wagon :) Best of Luck to all of us:)

parallax693 01-06-2010 01:40 AM

I am 46, just remarried last August to a wonderful guy. I have an 18 year old son off at college. I have a full time job as an elementary school psychologist. I "work" 91/2 months per year, so I will have plenty of time this summer to exercise, even if I try to get a part time job. I've just been too sedentary for too long, and need to get active. I have always averaged around 1500-1700 calories a day, which doesn't seem like a lot to me, but at this age I guess if I dont' get moving, no weight will come off! LOL I personally don't want to start off "hard core", I am just doing this one day at a time (for the year) and seeing how healthy I can get myself. Of course this is just the best route for me.
Regarding baby weight, when I had my son, I had a C-section, so I was in pain and was sedentary for a while. If I had to do it over again, I would have started doing situps or whatever after I returned to work (8 wks later) because that tummy has never firmed back up again!

I work full time as a Children's Mental Health Case Manager (so I travel a lot for my job as well) and work Sundays at a part time job. I have four children (18, 16, 12, 8) that are ALL involved in sports so my evenings and saturdays are always busy. I need to start eating better while on the run as well! Now I stock my car/purse with fruit, cheese sticks, wheat crackers (100 cal. packs) and if we do order fast food (which is alot of the times) I order off the kids menu! That way my portions are way smaller yet I can still eat out with the kids! :D I have started exercising, we are lucky enough to get a half hour at work to exercise, and I cut out carbonated beverages. WE ARE ON OUR WAY! :p

Hi all!

I'm 35 years old, turning 36 in a month. I've struggled with my weight all my life, but it's been really hard the last 6 years when I was undergoing fertility treatments to get pregnant. I'm thrilled to have a wonderful 3 year old son, but not thrilled with all this extra weight and the pre-diabetic condition that came with it.

I have a significant amount of weight to lose....more than 50 pounds but less than 100...and I know from previous experiences that slow and steady wins the race. I am a former Weight Watcher member and have been successful in the past with that, but I am not sure if I want to rejoin them again because this time around I am also focused on more natural eating and cutting out artificial additives and harmful chemicals. I lost a lot of weight on that plan by using a lot of their products which are loaded with the very things I'm trying to stay away from this time.

I am primarily a SAHM mom right now. My background is in the historical musuem & research field and hope to get back into that once the economy turns around. I do work out of my home as a Wildtree All Natural & Peanut Free Foods Consultant and really believe in trying to eat less processed foods and get back to eating more "whole" & natural foods--again, hence the hesitatation to go back to Weight Watcher's. I love to cook and try new recipes, so I'm always looking to share food tips & recipes!

I really love this website and I'm hoping it to find some great support pals along on the same journey..and to be a great support to others!

Good luck to everyone on their journey!

A photo of when you were at your best weight-in plain sight or even a computer wallpaper. An outfit that you looked great in and felt wonderful in-hanging in your closet front and center. A screenshot of your *successful to date* weight loss chart from Fitday...checking message boards like this when you think you cannot skip that cheesecake! The worst thing is having a family with healthy skinny teenagers and hubby and not forcing them to be on your diet and exercise program. My best motivation is them, I tell them I can't have that pizza and they make sure that they don't leave it around! = )

benswife 01-06-2010 04:22 PM

Hi Ladies! I just joined fitday today. For the last 3 months I have been a member of the Biggest Loser club but when it came time to renew I wasn't willing to pay the $60 again. I started there with 60 pounds to lose, and I lost 17. So my ultimate weight loss goal is to lose another 43 pounds but my mini goal for right now is to lose 30 pounds by May 1st.

I am 31 years old, will be 32 on the 20th of this month. I am a SAHM looking to go back to school soon. My children are 6, 4 and 14 months. I need to get my eating under control because I have such a sweet tooth! I have cut out pepsi, I used to drink 4 cans a day (not diet) and I now have 1 maybe once a week. I plan on keeping my exercise at the level I have it now or better. Currently I do about 5 hours of exercise a week.

I definetly want to buddy up with who ever wants to! One of the great tools I learned from BLC was challenges. So if anyone is interested in those just let me know and we can figure something out for those.

Danielle

2010!!

Hi All-
Also just wanted to say hey and that I'm looking to lose 50 by Dec. 2010. Seems pretty reasonable right? Hope to keep posting on Fitday too.

Cheers!

:D

Oh and some stats: I'm also 35 going on 36 in May. I've tried multiple weight loss programs- WW, South Beach, Atkins, 'French women don't diet' you name it- and lost and then gained more. So I'm ready to just try again, this time with a more steady approach. I've also got Hashimoto disease (hypothyroid) which makes losing weight harder BUT I figure I have to try right? So far, I've cut out most dairy already (I've been lactose intolerant) , and coffee (only 1/week), and trying to eat less meat. So my tip is also the same- take it one thing at a time and try it for a week- see how you feel, and then move on to the next little hill.
That's a challenge right?

benswife 01-10-2010 04:15 AM

Hi Xannadu! Where did everyone go? I tried Zumba the other night and had so much fun! Has anyone else ever done it? I plan on going back every Tue and Thur night now. How is everyone else doing on eating and exercise? My eating is terrible but I plan on getting back on track with that starting tomorrow. I hope to hear from people so we can get acquainted and help keep each other on track.

Dani

Hannah1154 01-10-2010 09:08 AM

I really like the atmosphere this website has. I have a hard time sticking with diets and work outs and I hope that this is just the kick in the butt that I've needed.

I guess it's my turn for details. I'm 18 and I have 40 pounds to loose.

renaelisa 01-10-2010 01:11 PM

Hey there!
I'm new to this site also. I'm in my early 20s, and I'm hoping to lose 60 pounds by my wedding anniversary in mid June. I'm a carb maniac and also have a horrible habit of eating when I'm bored, rather than hungry. Especially at night. =(
I also have a pretty tight budget. Does anyone have any ideas for cheap meals and snacks??

benswife 01-11-2010 05:56 AM

Hi Hannah and Renaelisa, welcome! I hope you keep blogging and we can give each other support. I too have tried several diets and never stuck with it. I like this website because it isnt a diet.
Suggestions for cheap healthy food

oatmeal for breakfast - only 160 cal and you get 10 pks for about $2.50 (sometimes less, i shop sales or walmart no name brand)

baked potato- only 110 cal and a lot of times you can get a 10lb bag for .99 when on sale

chicken breasts- i buy frozen 3lb bag for about $7 at walmart

salads are fairly cheap if you make your own, buy a head of lettuce for under $1 and you can make probably 4 salads out of it if you are making them for just one.

I need to jump back on the exercise bandwagon tonight after my kids go to bed. What is everyone else doing for exercise?

Dani
