Fat and Unhappy

Hello,
I used to work out a lot and was in great shape at 30 but now I feel like a whale and am very unhappy with myself. I have tried to start several times in the last 5 years and something always stops me - generally an injury. I really need to do this but find I lack motivation and dedication.
I am not sure what to do to get get my mojo back so I will try this. I have a sitting job and most of the times my mood says eat.
Long way to go but I really want to get there.
Hopefully my posts will get better in the future.

Maybe diet (tracking what you eat every day in the food log and sticking to a calorie limit) will be more effective than just ramping up your exercise, at least in the beginning of a diet. I say that because of your past experience with injuries stopping your progress. Unless I misunderstood and you just happened to have the bad luck of experiencing injuries (not exercise-related).

You say you have a sitting job. Is it at a computer? Can you elevate your monitor and keyboard so you work standing up? Just build a platform (I have my keyboard on a suitcase) to keep those at eye level while you're standing.

I can relate! I too work in front of a computer all day and have two young children, so time for myself is very limited. Over the past several years, I tried to get back to exercising daily but I always start out too fast and end up injuring myself. I also get frustrated when the results don't come as quick as I expect. Then I give up only to have to start all over again when I can no longer stand to be in my own skin. Well, I'm at it again! This time however, I've stuck this out for nearly 3 months. I've only lost 10 lbs. but I've finally realized that if I keep giving up, I'll get nowhere.

Traking my calorie intake as well as my calorie burn and posting here and a few other sites that motivate me, have helped tremendously. It's tough, I know! But take it slow and figure out what works for you...find tchanges that you feel good about and that you can stick to for life. They don't need to be big! Many small changes add up over time and will make a difference! You can do this! After all, you are the only one who can do this for yourself. :)
