Hello and welcome to the forum. There are a couple of threads you might want to check into, there is one called "14 weeks til Christmas", where a bunch of us are posting our weight and keeping track of the pounds lost until Christmas. We started a few weeks back with a goal of a 30 pound loss by Christmas, but you can certainly join in. You don't have to lose 30 to join, you just have to want to lose weight by Christmas, so it's all good. You also might want to check out the 100+ thread, again there is no real weight loss requirement, it's just for ladies that will be at this diet thing for a while.

I had that same wardrobe last Christmas, sizes 18-24, so I know exactly where you are. Fitday is a great tool, and using it has helped me lose quite a bit, now that old wardrobe has been replaced by a new one in much smaller sizes.

I will second the idea to join one of the threads here on the support forum. I've been so impressed with the non-judgmental support that everyone gives. This is totally something you can do! Welcome to the beginning of your journey to a healthier you.

I'm 56, 277 lbs, diabetic and desperate for a buddy

Would anyone be interested in being my fitday diet buddy? I haven't been inputting my food and exercise every day but I promise faithfully to commit to being a good, supportive diet buddy to anyone who will make the same commitment to me. We don't need to email everyday, just track each others journals and maybe post here once or twice a week. Can i appeal to anyone to do this with me? The more the merrier. thanks, Nora

I am happy to be a buddy!

I am 41, daibetic (the MODY kind) and I am looking to lose 30-40 pounds to get to my target weight. 186.8 this morning.

I think what gets me most down are my sugar levels! I eat low carb, follow The Diabetes Revolution by Dr. RIchard Bernstein, have a great doctor, take XR Glucophage 2x a day and Byetta 10mcg twice a day.

I have been going to the gym. Aerobics makes my sugars go up, not down! After my workout I was 239. Frustration is ridiculous.

So, tell me about you. What are your goals?:)

Happy to find these forums

I've been using fitday on and off since 2002 and I never noticed these forums before today. I'm so happy to be here, I'm hoping to find someone who wants to be my diet buddy. I'm 56, i weigh 277, I'm happily married and have 3 wonderful grandkids. I work full time, i have type 2 diabetes and a total knee replacement. I'm looking forward to getting my other knee done next summer so i can start walking again. I hope to get to know all of you really well and maybe to even make one or two really good friends. Nice to meet you.

Nora (near Toronto, Canada)

tyranna 12-05-2010 09:42 AM

Hi Judeshealth.
I'm very glad to meet you. Thanks for replying to my post, i would love it if you were my diet buddy.
i'm Canadian and I'm guessing that we don't have the same scale for measuring blood sugars, when I check mine first thing in the morning, it's usually between 6.0 and 7.7. My goal is to lose 120 pounds in the next year and a half. I think I've finally come around to the fact that I need to drastically change my diet. I've logged in my food for today and I'm hovering right around 2500 calories. I'm ready to start taking better care of myself.

Nora, I know I said "Hi" in my 100 lbs to Lose thread, but "Hi" again! I, too, was on FitDay back in '02 and used it to lose a couple hundred pounds. I quit, and sure enough, found them again (and a few of their friends).

It looks like this time I am here to stay, even after reaching my eventual "goal". I agree that these forums are terrific and a great addition to FitDay.

Regards,
Michael

-I really wan't to suceed in my diet this time- But i'm terrible on my own.
-So a diet buddy would be MUCH appreciated !!
:D

almeeker 05-20-2011 07:00 AM

Welcome to the forum. I hear you on the "sticking with it". Pretty much every Monday of my life I started a diet, only to fall off the wagon on Thursday or Friday (if not sooner). One of the things you'll see over and over again on this forum is that people are not trying to "diet" per se, they are trying to make healthy changes to their lifestyle. For me it's all about habits, forming new healthy ones and getting rid of bad ones. You might try the 7-day accountability thread for a way to stick with it day to day.

Looking for some Diet Buddies!!

I am 35 yrs. old, Single mom of 2. I just graduated from Nursing School and I am looking to start my new life. I know I need to loose a ton of weight, but its easier said than done. I played the yo-yo diet all my life. I am now at my heaviest at 380. I am totally commited to make this year the year I get "me" back. Looking for friends to talk to while on this journey of my life. I plan on doing shakes 2 times a day and then chix breast and veggies for dinner. I also want to start an exercise routine. I have an elipical in my basement that is just holding clothes right now. Good Luck to All who has also decided to get healthy this year!!

Hi! I'm in need of a diet buddy too.

Taking time for ourselves is probably the hardest thing we have to do - harder than resisting the treats, or getting off the couch. I work 2 jobs, 1 full time and 1 supposed to be part time, plus I have a new house to cook and clean in, a boyfriend whom I adore and I volunteer a LOT. So, as much as I don't believe in New Year's resolutions, I'm making an exception. This year I need to pay some attention to my health. I'm 197 pounds. I feel tired, achy and blah too much of the time. So twice a week I'm going to go to the pool and I'm going to join an art class. Because I can :)

What are you going to do to take time for yourself? How are you going to find "you"?

01gt4.6 01-03-2012 09:44 AM

Welcome ladies to FitDay. There are plenty of great people here to help you along the way. We also have a great women's section where we do a weekly motivational (accountability) thread. Some really great women there... and me, but I don't bite (too hard). Stop by and say hello. If y'all have any questions, just ask.

In Weight Loss Tips we have a 100+ pounds to lose thread. Just know there you are not alone here, there's always someone that's in your shoes or has been in them. Hopefully they returned them in good condition so you can use them to walk or exercise in. ;)

alorea1976 01-04-2012 11:10 AM

Nice to meet ya!

I plan on cooking healthy for myself and taking time to exercise.

Welcome!

Glad to have you aboard :)

Please do check in to the 100+ to Lose thread, if you like--plenty of us there who are (or were) in your situation and understand what it's like and the challenges you face.

Rejoice in the knowledge that you CAN succeed in this battle and using FitDay is probably the smartest thing you can do to help make it as easy as possible.

If you need help or advice, just ask.

Regards,
Michael

http://yoursmiles.org/tsmile/forum/t1230.gifWelcome Alorea!

I guess you can see a bit about my philosophy in my signature. I have to start slow & steady. Daily routine -- step by step.

IDEA: What about changing 1 thing at a time? I think about what can I add MORE in my life? Often when I add MORE into my life, it replaces the not-so-good. For example, right now I'm working on adding more non-starchy vegetables in my life, thus it fills me up & I eat less sweets.

Best wishes as you journey toward a healthier you!:)

living.smiling;66997 ~http://yoursmiles.org/csmile/preved/c0140.gif Welcome aboard the Fitday Forums! It's good to see that you're treating yourself well. There's lots of wonderful encouragement around here --hope you continue to stick around. Best wishes!

Hi i also would love to come on board and have some diet buddies. It seems like I am always on one diet or another. I too have clothes hanging on the treadmill and seem to be looking for that elusive motivation. I am turning 40 very soon and I think might be the motivator of all motivators. Look forward to hearing from fellow dieters or lifestyle changers :)

Hi Katie, welcome! If you are looking for buddies in the same boat, you (and anyone) are free to check the 7-day motivational thread in the Women's Forum section. We are a pretty active bunch and very chatty about fitness, diet, exercise, and our lives in general. It's a great place to get motivated to stay on track; hope to see you there.

Diet Buddy Wanted

I posted under Atkins Diet but the moderator suggested that I repost here. I am glad that someone is looking at what is going on and is trying to help.

I am on the Modified Atkins Diet and am having trouble breaking 190; the holidays did not help. I am a senior male in good shape and work out and prefer a female but would appreciate encouragement and motivation from anyone. I am willing to reciprocate.

I hope, within the week, to be back down near 190, my minimum weight for the last year. I hope to reach 180 or even less in 3 to 4 months. I need to increase my exercise.

One problem has been maintaining the RDA for potassium intake. I have had a little exercise intolerance with severe leg cramps. Calf stretching, calcium and Benadryl before bedtime and Bilberry have helped. My doctor ordered me to diet but did not support it and interfered with getting a safe potassium supplement in the amount needed. I hated to change doctors but have a new one that is all that I have desired.

I would appreciate linking up with one or more caring people for mutual support, encouragement, help--whatever it takes to keep losing. I hope it will be fun and beneficial for both of us.

You can email at Link removed if they have not "improved" it again and it still works.

New Here Too!

Hi! This is my second day on this website too! I am looking to lose 45 pounds and could use the support of another person taking on the battle of weight loss! I'm a 27 year old Kindergarten teacher and I find that I am so tired at the end of each day that eating my comfort foods are my only way to feel good... Not a healthy way of coping! So, I am trying to change my lifestyle to adopt healthier ways of feeling better about myself. So, day 2, here I come!
