01gt4.6 04-12-2013 04:53 AM

Today I hit 180.6, I'm so close to getting back in the 170's!

carolynnq 04-12-2013 05:44 AM

Mern - we missed your contributions when you were gone.

Mike - You'll likely be in the '70s this weekend. Fantastic job! I also grew up being admonished to clean my plate - all the starving children in China and all that. Now it's just that I don't like being wasteful (so I've got compost going in the garden, and a worm bin in the garage).

Robin - so glad your back is healing. You sound like you're full of energy!

Hope - hoping that your symptoms will subside - a big cyberhug for you. (To fix your time, go to User CP, then to "Edit Options".)

piwacket - That's great your daughter has good eating habits. But how sad that her skinny friends think they have to diet.

Donna - I love salads too. They're filling, refreshing, and so easy to change up with whatever leftover meat and vegetables I have.

Cassie - Gosh, you sound busy. Hope you get some R&R this weekend.

Epi - you're doing great with your goals. Re logging food - I've lost weight not counting calories with the South Beach Diet, so I know I CAN do it that way. But for now, with my grazing tendencies the way they are, I need to log everything.

Jenn - congrats on your weight loss.

If I missed anyone, I didn't mean to!

***
1. Calories under 1300: 1118, 1299, 1278
2. An hour extra movement a day: Y, Y,Y, Y (doing lots of yard work again)
3. No sugar, white flour: Y, N, Y, N
4. Small bites and put fork down between bites.-Working on it and I'm remembering to do it more often.

canary52 04-12-2013 06:25 AM

Mike, congrats, great progress!!!!

Carolynn, thank you so much!! I fixed it!!!! Yay!!! And thanks for your good wishes, it means a lot.

amyrosepickard 04-12-2013 07:46 PM

First Time Saturday

5'2"
44" Waist
225lbs Weight
Age 22

Calories - Under 1700 - No 2008
Fruit & Veg - 3 or more - No 1
Exercise - 30 mins a day - Yes 45
Exercise - 10 sit-ups a day - No 3

Trying to lose inches instead of weight, at a size 22 I'm a bit depressed. Logging everything onto fitday.

jjrudd 04-13-2013 01:24 AM

Welcome Amy. I'm also a size 22 (would like to get down to 16/18). When I started working out I lost inches. It took me a while to lose weight.
Eating more fruits and veggies helped me. It keeps you fuller and veggies are very low calorie. Don't forget to drink lots of water too.

Jenn

cjohnson728 04-13-2013 02:08 AM

Check in for Friday:

1. Calories below 1300. 1247, 1125, 1087, 1350, 1262
2. Move more...up the exercise. Hit the weights for a little bit tonight, Yes-C25K
3. Take vitamins and supplements. Yes, Yes, Some, Some
4. Sleep enough. Yes, Yes, Not even close, Yes, Not even close
5. Stay on top of work; don't get behind. So far, so good, Yes, Yes, Like a boss, Yes

Mixed bag. Gotta work on the exercise! Eating has been back under control for a few weeks now, so the lack of (vigorous) exercise has to be what's keeping me from making any appreciable progress.

Welcome to our group, amyrosepickard...once you get on track and see a bit of results, you will feel better. Stick with it and use us for support as much as you want; that's what we're here for! That and some laughs ;).

Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely weekend so far!

episode2011 04-13-2013 03:08 AM

And we're into the weekend, everyone! Hooray!

A big woot woot for Jenn! Down 2 pounds, wonderful! That has to be so encouraging!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well, Hope. On a happier note, you also lost 2 pounds and got back to your Spanish! Buen trabajo! (I hope that's right -- I think it means "good job" :D)

Go, go, Mike! You're knocking on the door of the 170s -- go get 'em!

Welcome aboard, Amyrose! I'm so glad you found this thread!

Carolyn, you're so close to your weight goal, fantastic!

I hope you can catch up on the sleep this weekend, Cassie. You're doing a great job!

As for me:

Goals for the week:
  • Log everything, no exceptions: yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
  • At least 1500ml water per day: yes, yes, 2000ml, yes, yes
  • Maintain 7-day calorie rolling average under 1550 (day/7-day average): 1466/1566, 1299/1556, 1064/1490, 1526/1489, 1582/1467

  • Study every day: yes, yes, yes, yes, yes

I'm pretty pleased with the way things have gone so far this week. I weigh every day, so I know where I am, but I generally regard Mondays as my "official" weight day. This coming Monday is looking promising, assuming I don't go too far off-track today and tomorrow . Here's to a great weekend, folks!

carolynnq 04-13-2013 03:35 AM

Amy - welcome. Good goals! I want to commend you for being honest about not meeting all of your goals yesterday. It's a new day - you can do it today! Focus on meeting your daily goals and the larger goal will follow.

01gt4.6 04-13-2013 03:43 AM

Okay, my diet wasn't so great yesterday. I was headed in a downward spiral but I pulled up my WT (Wonder Twins) britches and straightened up. My water was down but I'm down another .6, I'm at 180.0 this morning.

Congrats Mike at reaching 180! :D

I made it my goal to remember to drink the water on the weekend since I tend to forget. Mike you will be happy to know I finished one bottle this morning.
I'm finally getting the spare room cleaned out and have one bag of recycling, one bag of garbage (grocery store size) and one garbage bag of clothes to be donated.

Nice, you should be on # 2 by now.;)

Robingen 04-13-2013 09:35 AM

Welcome Amyrose- we are so glad to have you join us. You'll get the hang of the calories planning, it'll get easier to stay within your goals.

Somebody posted a recipe for frozen green smoothies a while back. I made them today. They are in the freezer...I don't know they smelled kinda gross. We'll see.

Cassie, I hear ya about busy and hungry. That would have also been my downfall at a pizza place. I am struggling to plan my food on work days so that I don't get in that spot........some days it is working better than others!

Hope, so sorry you are not feeling well. I hope you are feeling better soon, is the sun out in NYC? Does that help with the fibro?

Congrats Jenn to be below your lowest weight! Good job. I guess it is getting that water in.

Mike sounds like you might hit the 170's tomorrow. Here's hoping.

Donna, I love salad too. It makes it handy for getting the vegs in. I am so looking forward to fresh local stuff being available (snow here again today).

Epixi.....weekends are the best for me because I have time to cook. Hope your weekend is successful!

I have 6k in of my goal of 10 but it looks promising to do 4 tomorrow.

episode2011 04-14-2013 01:33 AM

I don't know what possessed me yesterday, but I hit the 1500ml water mark by about 3pm and just kept going. Surprised I didn't float away!

Goals for the week:
  • Log everything, no exceptions: yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
  • At least 1500ml water per day: yes, yes, 2000ml, yes, yes, 2500ml
  • Maintain 7-day calorie rolling average under 1550 (day/7-day average): 1466/1566, 1299/1556, 1064/1490, 1526/1489, 1582/1467, 1356/1394
  • Maintain 7-day sodium rolling average under 1500mg (day/7-day average): 1172/1245, 1521/1327, 483/1158, 532/1083, 913/1030, 357/807
  • Study every day: yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes

Can't give up now, folks, we're almost at the finish line for the week!

jjrudd 04-14-2013 01:58 AM

Good job this week Epixi. Oh, I'm with you on the water! By the time I went to bed I did feel like I was going to float away.

Jenn

canary52 04-14-2013 02:03 AM

Welcome Amyrose!!!! You'll get the hang of it!!!

Epixi, Jenn, you go on that water!!!! (oops inadvertent bad pun)

Robin, thank you for your good thoughts. The sun, warmth, barometric pressure all seem to affect fibro. This week, I could not sit up, walk or drive much. I was not well enough to work. That is hopefully getting better.

Robin, 6k is good!!! keep going!!!

Epixi you did great on the Spanish. And I gained the two pounds back. DH made a crab boil with starchy veggies and it was loaded with sodium. Plus I have been depression eating due to my sadness about my fibro flare.

I have friends who lost a lot of weight on a program with pre packaged food. I was thisclose to buying some of their food. I am not much for prepackaged food but I am thinking of trying the basics of the plan: 5 small "meals" of 100 calories (including snacks) and 5-6 oz of protein for dinner with a veg. 8 glasss of water. I am better eating more often and small meals are better than large. (I also gotta follow epixi's water drinking example.) You just got a preview of tomorrow's goals, I think. But I may start today.

dmartz 04-14-2013 02:45 AM

Checking in before I head out.
  • Calories Avg. < 1400 /day: 936, 1218, 949, 1752, 1780, 1904
  • Cholesterol < 200mg: 100, 194, 105, 137, 110, 250
  • Vegetables > 3 / day: 2, 1, 3, 2, 1, 7
  • Workout > 150 min/wk: 60, 0, 55, 0, 0, 0
  • Protein > 50 g / day: 55, 69, 37, 50, 51, 115
Mike: Ate more meat yesterday, had a t-bone for dinner. Plenty of protein, and calories in that. Will you be in the 70s tomorrow?

- Donna

cjohnson728 04-14-2013 04:34 AM

1. Calories below 1300. 1247, 1125, 1087, 1350, 1262, 1297
2. Move more...up the exercise. Hit the weights for a little bit tonight, Yes-C25K
3. Take vitamins and supplements. Yes, Yes, Some, Some, Some
4. Sleep enough. Yes, Yes, Not even close, Yes, Not even close, 8 blessed hours!!
5. Stay on top of work; don't get behind. So far, so good, Yes, Yes, Like a boss, Yes, Nope, but hoping to catch up today.

I had the boy at a tournament all the way across town yesterday; we went in between matches to the first restaurant we saw...Mexican. I ended up with a salad...field greens, grilled chicken, dried cherries, mandarin oranges, almonds; held dressing and cheese but had some chips & salsa. So cals are an estimate.

Hope, I hear you. Wish I could give you a real-life hug. Never forget how strong you are. You can get through this.

Epixi, you are doing a great job! What a great week for you :)

Nice job on the protein, Donna...and SEVEN veggies? You rock!

Robin, I hope you are enjoying finishing up the 10 today. Hope you've had the chance to do some cooking this weekend and may the coming week not be too hectic ;).

carolynnq, it sure is good to see you steady-as-she-goes. Reminds me we can all do it. Thanks for all your words of wisdom here on FD, in this thread and others. I know you have helped out many folks.

Mike, looking forward to hearing the new number for the week; sure hope you are back to the next decade down.

01gt4.6 04-14-2013 05:24 AM

Robingen 04-14-2013 05:52 AM

Mike the water probably could have got you there! Oh well there's always tomorrow.

I'll join Cassie in hugs to you Hope. You have helped me so much. Stay strong.

Finished 11k of my goal of 10. I really intended to stop complaining about the weather and walking but seriously I wore my coat and mitts today. It's so ridiculous.

This week is less hectic Cassie and I need to try to keep it that way instead of seeing "spaces" in which I can add stuff. If I have a space, I'll do yoga or walk- that might become this weeks goal.

My friend (in his 80s) invited me to his art show opening and I really wanted to go to support him. Since I'm not yet well enough to drive, DH took me (even tho he was gonna draw today.) We had a great time and even got to meet my friend's well known actor son who is a total pisser. We shared great stories!! I've known his family for years. Just never met him. The actor is Armand Assante, don't know if any of you know him, but he's a nice guy, very colorful character. His Mom, Katherine, who passed, was a friend and an inspiration. She was paralyzed from polio, had so many health issues and struggles and NEVER complained. My heroine. (I am ummm obviously different...lol.)

01gt4.6 04-14-2013 07:59 AM

Weekend Warriors!

Thanks everyone on the congrats for reaching 180. My official weigh in is on Monday, so we'll see if I can get in the 170's.

Hope, sorry you aren't feeling well. Not sure if I missed what's going on but maybe you're just home sick because you're not in NOLA.;)

Off to teach yoga again in a few minutes! Wish you guys could be there haha!

Yes that must be it!!! I did feel better in NOLA, even after Mardi Gras.

Let's keep supporting each other, OK?

Teaching yoga, how cool is that? Wish I could be there!!!! Could you hold it in NOLA? How perfect would that be?

  • Calories Avg. < 1400 /day: 936, 1218, 949, 1752, 1780, 1904, 1724
  • Cholesterol < 200mg: 100, 194, 105, 137, 110, 250, 195

  • Protein > 50 g / day: 55, 69, 37, 50, 51, 115, 99
Not a good weekend. Even though I did some walking, I was lazy, ate as if I like being fat, and drank. Today I feel bloated and even lazier. The only good part of the weekend is I ate lots of veggies Saturday, including beets.
On to the new week.

Had to look back!
  • Calories Avg. < 1400 /day: 1466 (no)
  • Cholesterol < 200mg/day: 156 (yeah!)
  • Vegetables > 3 / day: 2.6 (not quite)
  • Workout > 150 min/wk: 115 (not close!)
  • Protein > 50 g / day: 68 (good.)
Will do better this week.

- D.

episode2011 04-15-2013 02:06 AM

Robin, when I saw 10k as your goal, I originally thought your goal was 10,000 steps in a week. Upon thinking about it more, I think you mean 10 kilometers in a week! Either way, you did 11, so a big tip-of-the-hat to you!!!

Jenn, how'd you do on water yesterday? I can't believe I did 2500ml again! Two days in a row. I'm not ready yet to make that a new goal, but it *may* be the start of a trend. Good thing we don't charge for bathroom use in my house!

Hope, having read your posts, I did some quick research on fibro. Gah, I'm sorry you have to deal with that monster. I hope it calms down for you this week. On a much happier note, I'm glad you got to go to your friend's art show! That had to be exciting and fun! And Armand Assante, have we heard of him??? Heck yeah! I love that you called him a "total pisser". I haven't heard that phrase since I left Massachusetts (although I usually heard it as "pissa" :D). Anyway, sending you a virtual (((hug))).

Cassie, I am not a salad fan (truth be told, I am not a vegetable fan -- could live quite contentedly without ever eating another one), but the salad you described sounds delicious even to me!!!

Donna, you had a great week, even if the weekend wasn't exactly what you wanted. You banked calories at the beginning of the week, so the weekend splurge just evened things out.

Looking forward to reading Mike's report. I just know he hit the 170s!

Mern, if you're out there reading, know that we're thinking of you! /wave

~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~

And here's my wrap-up for the week.

Goals for the week:
  • Log everything, no exceptions: yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
  • At least 1500ml water per day: yes, yes, 2000ml, yes, yes, 2500ml, 2500ml -- again!!!
  • Maintain 7-day calorie rolling average under 1550 (day/7-day average): 1466/1566, 1299/1556, 1064/1490, 1526/1489, 1582/1467, 1356/1394, 1582/1410
  • Maintain 7-day sodium rolling average under 1500mg (day/7-day average): 1172/1245, 1521/1327, 483/1158, 532/1083, 913/1030, 357/807, 948/840
  • Study every day: yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes

Not sure what possessed me yesterday. Why oh why did I feel compelled to eat a mountain of spaghetti, topped with a tub of sauce? I know why. Because it was there and it would be a crime to throw any of it away. Oh, and it because it was delicious (if I do say so mself :D). Fortunately, the beginning of the day was quite calorie light, so the spaghetti-gorging didn't wreck the day's totals. Whew! And I upped the water to help counteract.

Overall, I am very pleased with my week. I did better than I thought I would -- I think knowing that I'd be sharing results helped me stay on track. Accountability, and all that. The nicest part is that I had a decent loss for the week (even though I weigh daily, I use Mondays as my "official" weight) and thus, I've updated the sig!

Off we go to a whole new week, everyone!!!

kali87 04-15-2013 04:20 AM

My goals for the week:

1) Clear / "Good" Liquids - 3L a day. Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sat, Sunday,

Water

Having read other peoples goals I think I will add water to my goals as at the moment I drink no water, 5 cups of tea and a 1.5 litre of fizzy pop a day.

New Goals,
Drink 4 glasses of water a day.
Drink No fizzy pop.
Drink No tea.

I don't do my sit-ups in one go (I wish I could), I exercise for 10 minutes a time, 6 times a day (usually when my son allows me to). I did 5 sit-ups 3 times, 2 press ups (all I could manage) 3 times, wall press 8 every ten minute session, bicep curls with tinned beans every 10 minutes. It is part of my exercise regime which I started yesterday. I am going to walk the dogs soon as well, and I have just bought an ab circle pro, I have to get this belly off. My goal is for a size 14 by September (hoping to try for another baby).

Keep up the good work, I can't believe when I first met my husband I was a size 12. (7 years ago)

Liquid Lizard, we all have bad days, I don't eat fruit yet.
Kali, well done, keep it up and there is exercise in everything you do, even dancing to music on the radio (in your living room where no one can see) That is what I do.

Thanks for the comments, I think I will get good motivation from this website.
