Kathy, good job last week! I know you’ll have another good one this week. My goals will be the same until I master them all. :)

1–log it all food
2–gym 5 times
3–log all exercise
4–water, 3 daily

keeping it simple seems to work.

Mike, put the king cake down and get your lazy butt in here and post your goals.

Guilty as charged.

I'm not going to worry about a weight goal this week, I think my scale needs new batteries. I fell victim to a king cake last week.

Goals:
1) 100 water per day
2) 6k steps per day

wowgirl88 01-14-2019 09:19 AM

Morning all!
So I'm returning (again again!) to help with accountability, and cause Mike asked to nicely. :P
I'm in Australia, and start my week on Sunday, so the "N" and "Y" is for SUN/MON, today being Tues for me. :)
Here's my list of stuff;
GYM/EX - N Y
NO JUNK - Y Y
NO ALC - Y Y
MyFit Pal Log - Y Y
Read Book - N N

Cheers all, hopefully I'll have time to check out the rest of the forum, see who's still kicking and reintroduce myself. :)

Welcome back!!! I haven't done this in a long while but since you decided to join, I'm going to steal one of your goals, if you don't mind. I love a good cold beer so I'm going to go for it!!!

Goals:
1) 100 water per day
2) 6k steps per day
3) No alcohol

wowgirl88 01-14-2019 10:15 AM

Haha, no worries Mike, go for it!
My target for each week is as below;
GYM/EX - 6
NO JUNK - 6
NO ALC - 6
MyFit Pal Log - 7
Read Book - 7

So there can be planned days for drinking etc. I refuse to just the term 'cheat day'. Food guilt used to be a huge thing with me (to the point I wouldn't even eat veggies because I felt so guilty about eating when I needed to lose weight), so I just plan that six days of the week I try to stick to my Cals and gym with a day off. At least if I skip two gym days I can always go twice another day and it's still six times. :P

mtlgirl 01-14-2019 11:20 AM

HI Everyone,

My name is Rosa, and I used to check in to the weekly challenge every week back in 2011. I am not doing so great right now, with regards to weight and fitness, so I'm here to hold myself accountable and to get motivated to really work on myself in 2019.

Because it's Monday night and I'm starting tomorrow, this week's goals are:
1. LOG FOOD 6X:
2. NO SWEETS 6X:
3. GYM/EXERCISE 4X
4. WALK 10,000 STEPS 6X
5. WEIGH IN 1X

Have a fabulous Monday evening, everyone!

I'll stay off the beer for 6 days. My wife just cracked a beer... but I'm not going to cave in. Not today!

1–log all food—yep
2–gym 5 times—yep
3–log all exercise—yep
4–water, 3 daily—nope

Rosa, welcome back.

I haven’t been active here since 2012-13. I’ve tried to start again time and time again, but it just doesn’t stick. For some reason I woke up with a renewed determination a couple of weeks ago. So I’m here. I’m down 4.8 pounds since last Monday. I’m technically shooting for 1-2 lbs a week. Something attainable and manageable.

For those that don’t know me. At my heaviest (nov 2011) I was 255-260 lbs. I’m 5’5”ish. So I was basically as big around as I am tall. I lost 78lbs in 9 months and felt fantastic. Then BF (now husband) came home from the army and I indulged in all of the food he had missed. I literally baked a cake, from scratch, every weekend for 3 months. I gained almost 20lbs in 3 months  Cut to Summer of 2013. Something was wrong and I just didn’t know what. I literally would fall asleep talking to someone. I had no energy. And I hurt. Oh my god, everything hurt. All the time. In August of that year I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. All of my symptoms finally made sense, yet I still just couldn’t do anything. I had NO desire to lose the weight I had gained.

This past year I was told I’m in a drug induced remission. Which is AMAZING. It basically means that disease progression is at a minimum. It’s not to say that I won’t have bad days, I will, and I do. Yesterday was one of those days. We went to the gym like normal, I started slow on the treadmill and was gradually increasing my speed. Then the wall hit. I KNEW I wouldn’t be able to physically do what I mentally wanted to. So I backed down. One this the last 5 years has taught me is to listen to my body. When I don’t I pay for it for days to come. I walked 1.5 miles at a slow pace. I was happy with that. It’s a mile more that I physically thought I’d be able to do yesterday.

This morning I woke up tired. I woke up hurting. I listened. I decided to skip the gym today and looked up yoga videos on YouTube. I did that instead. I did roughly 30 minutes. It’s what my joints needed today. So even though I technically didn’t go to the gym, I’m counting it. At least I did SOMETHING.

Good job on your goals, except for the water... of course.;) I'm in the same boat too, back then I was motivated and was doing great. Then something happened.... I lost motivation, got lazy and fat. I'm back to looking like my before picture from my signature. Unlike you, I was my downfall, I can't blame it on anything by what's in my head. Good job on knowing your limits and continuing to make great strides (pun intended). 30 Minutes on Yoga sounds like a good compromise!

I'm feeling some motivation right now and have really changed my "diet" for the day. I just need to stay focused and keep plugging away.

GYM/EX - N Y Y
NO JUNK - Y Y Y
NO ALC - Y Y Y
MyFit Pal Log - Y Y Y
Read Book - N N Y

Yay, managed all of the above yesterday.
Woke up late this morning (don't even remember my alarm going off!), so just counting a win that I still woke up on time for work, if not gym.
Now gotta force myself to go this arvo after work. :/

ToriD, great to see you're back in it. Doing something is 10 times better than nothing, so great job!
Mike, Rosa, good stuff! :)

mtlgirl 01-16-2019 12:15 AM

Good morning, everyone! My first day was really great food-wise. Unfortunately I didn't get to a gym and I didn't complete my 10,000 steps. Unfortunately I ended up working too much and only got to 6,400. But I am determined to walk 12,000 steps a day for the rest of the week to compensate. This actually isn't that hard to do when you live in NYC.

Tori, thank you so much for the warm welcome and for sharing your story. I am so sorry to hear about all that you had to endure with your rheumatoid arthritis. Your strength and optimism are really inspiring. As for me, at my heaviest I weighed 234 pounds, and I'm 5'3" so that was horribly uncomfortable, and psychologically difficult to bear. Ironically, everything else was my life is going well when I reached that point. I worked in London for 5 months in 2013-14, and after I got back I got married to my (now) wife, who I have been with for almost 17 years now. We had a very long engagement :) I'm Canadian and she's American and she couldn't sponsor me for immigration until DOMA was repealed, which it was while I was in London. Our wedding day was the happiest day! We got married in Central Park in the Spring with all the trees in bloom. It was truly spectacular. Then I had to go back to Canada, and the immigration process began, and I had to sell my home, get rid of more than half of my belongings (because NY apartments are tiny) and I guess I kind of ate my way through all of that. So I arrived in New York almost at my heaviest - I gained more while I was searching for a job. I found one pretty quickly and my career has been going great since then. I love living here. I love our tiny apartment, and although I know I'm not at my heaviest anymore, I still have a long way to go. So here I am determined to feel better and get more fit.

Wowgirl, you did amazing! Mike, great job!

1. LOG FOOD 6X: YES
2. NO SWEETS 6X: YES
3. GYM/EXERCISE 4X NO
4. WALK 10,000 STEPS 6X NO
5. WEIGH IN 1X NOT YET

Do you have a fitbit? One of these years I'm going to plan a family trip to NYC for around Christmas time. We lived in NY (Governor's Island) when I was a little kid. I don't really remember it. I still have family that lives in NY but I never get out there to visit. One day I'll make it happen.

wowgirl88, great job on the goals. You're killing it!

Hi Mike! You should definitely come to NYC! And yes I have a Fitbit. I love my Fitbit! We could be Fitbit friends if you have one too.

Good Morning from Aussieland!
Some of mine are kinda easy, cause I don't normally keep alcohol in the house (only buy it for parties and stuff), and I've not been buying junk intentionally.
I'm lucky with my work, while it can be crazy sometimes, when it's quiet we can go do PT, so got knocked off early to go to the gym (I'm military, so they like the whole fitness thing lol).
So my boss knew I'd slept in and missed gym in the morning so she let me go at 1530. Winning!

GYM/EX - N Y Y Y
NO JUNK - Y Y Y Y
NO ALC - Y Y Y Y
MyFit Pal Log - Y Y Y Y
Read Book - N N Y Y

Rosa, don't sweat it too much, you're doing great, I'm sure you'll knock out the extra steps this week!
Kathy, great job so far!
Mike, keep pushing, you'll get the steps up. You know all the tricks (park far away blah blah blah), go kill it! :)

G'day mate. Good job on the goals thus far. What book are you reading? I would park for away but I work from home. ;) I did get t get out the other day and go grocery shopping, that helped with steps but I still fell a little short. I've been close every day, I'll get there, I shouldn't have made that a goal, maybe next week I can get in my steps.

Water and no alcohol is going well. The Saints are still in the playoffs, but I'm going to do my best to not crack open a beer for the game. The steps remain a challenge, but I'll get there.

wowgirl88 01-17-2019 11:47 AM

Nice job Kathy, trucking along well!
Mike, it's all good, maybe look at the averege steps you did per day this week, and make it next week's goal? Or add a little bit for the goal? :)
Keep in mind that for mine, I allow myself junk and alcohol some days, it's just managing what's more important... one drink after work at home by myself, or going to the base boozer with mates on Friday and having a couple? If you like a drink during a game it's fine, as long as it's not every day. :) :P
And I'm currently reading the Mortal Engines series.... little bit aimed at 'tweens', but I'm a sucker for those kinds of books lol (HP, Divergent, Hunger Games....). I used to read all the time, but fell out of the habit, trying to get back into it.

Hi Everyone!

I'm a whole day behind in checking in, so sorry about that! I had a veeeeerrrrry long day yesterday working until after 9pm, followed by a long commute home because I was all the way up in The Bronx. I still managed to walk over 15,000 steps for two days in a row, which I'm super proud of!

The big news is I finally got the courage to step on a scale. That was definitely terrifying, because I hadn't weighed myself in months and was prepared for the worst, which would be if I was back up to my highest weight ever. Logically I knew I wasn't because of the way my clothes fit, but my disordered brain was reeling with worry, and now that I've done it I can breathe and just go forward towards a healthier weight. I was 213.8, which is pretty terrible, but at least I know what I'm dealing with. I'll weigh in again tomorrow morning to see how this week affects that number.

I'm very impressed with everyone's weeks this week! Thank you all for all the motivation!

Wowgirl, you are killing it! Great job with the PT this week!
Mike, keep it up! You are doing great! When I am working at a desk, the Fitbit buzzes on my wrist to tell me to move 10 minutes before every hour, so I get up and do high knees until I've completed 250 steps. I also get up for every phone call and literally march in place in my office or pace, to get extra steps in. Desk jobs are very challenging when it comes to moving enough.
Kathy, great job girl! I tried intermittent fasting and it was tough. Good for you for nailing it this week!
Tori, I hope you're having a great week!

So here are my stats:

1. LOG FOOD 6X: YES/ YES/ YES
2. NO SWEETS 6X: YES/ YES/ YES
3. GYM/EXERCISE 4X NO/ YES/ NO
4. WALK 10,000 STEPS 6X NO/ YES/ YES
5. WEIGH IN 1X NOT YET/ YES!

01gt4.6 01-18-2019 03:31 AM

Quick check in and I have to head out the door. I'll check back later and read everything!

Goals:
1) 100 water per day: Yes, yes, yes, yes
2) 6k steps per day: No, no, no, yes
3) No alcohol: None, none, none, none

Sorry I’ve been MIA. It’s been a weird week. We decided on a spur of the moment weekend away to visit DH’s sister. So food has been higher in calories than I’d like. We did get up and go to the gym today. So I’m at 3 days of exercise, I’ll be short of that goal this week. I’ve still logged every thing though, so I’m good there. Will be back fully again next week when things are back to normal.

01gt4.6 01-19-2019 10:46 AM

Hey gang!! Just a quick check in. So far so good. I’m killing it. I’ll hit 10k steps today! Woot woot! Still no ally and I’m drinking a ton of water. I’m down another pound.

Awesome job everyone. I also haven’t been able to give personal replies. I’m sorry.

I usually fall off the deep end over the weekend but I’m happy to say that I’m also killing it like the rest of y’all. I’m down almost 3 pounds since Friday!!! I’m down to 214.2. Not too long ago I was over 220. I have a ways to go but for the first time in a while.... I’M MOTIVATED!! Thanks!

maybe I can finish next week close to 210...?

I hope everyone stayed on the wagon over the weekend. See y’all tomorrow.
