I will do a full update when BF gets up for work (around 9 EST) but just wanted to check in. I'm doing good on calories. I made chicken enchiladas for supper and they're super yummy. I'll lighten it up next time by using light sour cream, etc but I just used what I had on hand for tonight. Will catch up with y'all in a bit.

Debbie, tonight was chicken fajita soup. It was scrumptious! You can have a big 2 cups of it for just about 700 calories. Mine was a little more because I have a few tortilla chips crumbled in with some light sour cream on top mixed in as well. I added fresh cilantro this time, which I've never done before, and wow it really brightened it up. (Mind you, it was still delicious without it.) And holy cow! Look at all your green check ins! You're rocking it!
I may have a slight weight loss for tomorrow's weigh in. I'm hoping, praying and keeping my fingers crossed! |
I have been doing fairly well on reaching my personal goals this week. I did have a luncheon today but I'm only 40 calories above target so I'm not going to stress about it. I have actually increased my water intake since adding the lime and drinking it warm. :)
I live in beautiful British Columbia so I no longer have to deal with full blown winter; the bone chilling temperatures, snow and ice. :D Oh, we do get snow once in a while - big, fluffy flakes ( very pretty), but it doesn't stick around for more than a day. The temps are still a little chilly and of course, we get lots of rain but I think it's way better than snow!;) My trainer is mobile and prefers home workouts or in the glorious outdoors. I am embarrassed to go to a gym and have strangers see me sweat so this arrangement works for me. Not outside so much as I don't like bugs  but in my own living room using the equipment that I already own - step, ball, bands, free weights. I bought myself a 15lb kettle bell for Christmas as I enjoy using it. The goal is to work smarter (not harder) and increase both muscle mass and stamina. I am a work in progress. The scale has been inching down so I should show a loss Friday. Onward and downward! |
IT'S FRIDAY!!! Hallelujah!!! My weekend will be busy....groceries, cleaning, kids swimming lessons, 2 birthday parties to bring my daughter to, fitting in my workouts, etc. But on the weekends, we also get to also do fun things like have a pizza party picnic and watch a movie together....we do this every Friday....the kids love it....so do I! :D I'm also meeting up with a friend for coffee tomorrow, so it will be nice to catch up with her. I will be helping my son with his science project which should be fun too. I love having the break from work!
Gypsy - BC is beautiful indeed!! I was fortunate enough to spend an entire month in Vancouver once upon a time before I had to be a grown up :p It was beautiful!! Between the mountains, water, beaches, the island...even some of the architecture was different there! Such a beautiful province. I love working out at home as well! I've had a gym membership a few times over the years, but I hate waiting for equipment. Over the years, I've built up a pretty decent home gym. My goal is to increase muscle mass and decrease body fat....they say it's difficult to do both at the same time....but regardless, that's my goal :) Lisa - I LOVE fresh cilantro!!! I love making my own pico de gallo with loads of fresh cilantro and I love simply adding it to salads. It really does brighten the taste doesn't it! Hope you have a loss today....keeping my fingers crossed for you. Tori - Looks like you're doing a decent job hitting your goals this week. Great job! Quinn - Good for you for getting out for a walk! Wishing you safe travels today! Libby - Betcha still have a good weigh in today! You've been so consistent at keeping your calories low that having the popcorn may have even been a good thing! Onward and downward buddy ;) Mike - Hope you're on the mend! Epixi - How are you doing with your goals this week? Have a great day all!!! |
Going to the doctor this morning. Maybe she'll put me on something good. Then I won't be able to use the "I'm sick" excuse next week.
|
I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped on the scale this morning. My weight is down to 168.7 which I haven't seen in quite a few years.
Debbie, good weigh in buddy. You are in the groove and doing every thing right. Have a good week end all. |

Libby, you've been sooo consistent! You've been doing some great work. Keep it up!
Debbie, welcome back to your groove! Mike, hope the doctor can help you. You passed it to me, though. :( Most of this week I didn't think I'd have any loss. I averaged 300 calories over my goal most of the week. And it was "that" week where my body goes haywire. (tmi? sorry.) I had a modest .8lb loss, and considering my week I'll take that as a win. My mood is starting to even out, and I see a spark of motivation coming on the horizon. Tomorrow my parents are coming into town for about 5 days, and they'll be eating with us probably every night. I'll just be making my regular type dinners that I usually do, but I will probably add some desserts into the menu that I don't normally do. Of course, when I make sweet treats I can't say no. Hopefully with a couple extra people there will only be enough for everyone to have 1 serving, and I won't be able to keep grazing on it. I really want to have a good weekend for Monday's challenge weigh in. |
My Goals For The Week...
The way I usually get back on track is by cleaning up my diet the first week, and then worrying about calories the second week. So, that's what I'm going to do. 1. Eat clean; eliminate the 5 "bad foods". Y, Y, Y, Y, No, had a little feta on my salad 2. Limit diet Coke to one glass per day. Y, none =), none, none, none 3. Drink 1 glass of tart cherry juice per day. (Recommended by my MD for joint inflammation.) Y, Y, Y, Y, N (ran out) 4. Drink one cup of antioxidant tea per day. Y, Y, Y, Y, Y 5. Take all vitamins and supplements. Y, Y, Y, Y, Y 6. 45 minutes of core building per day. Y, Y, Y, N, Y 7. Walk 3 times this week; minimum of 30 minutes each day. (It's 5 below zero, here not too far from Green Bay, with a windchill of -15. I'll have to walk indoors somewhere.) N (It was so cold yesterday that my car wouldn't start.) Another N, something in my SUV has frozen and it's going to the garage to be checked over today. GRRRRRR!!!, N (same thing), Y, Y Just got back from my out of town doctors appt. I see a breast cancer specialist twice a year, not because I have had breast cancer, but because I'm at a very high risk. All went very well. She was happy with my weight, (...although I'm not) my diet and my exercise routine. I did learn something new today, however. She said that recent studies have shown that being at the low end of your BMI range puts you at just as high of a breast cancer risk as being at the top end of your BMI range. For 5'5", Her recommendation is between 128-130 lbs. That's a little above my target weight where I feel my best. We do a lot of hiking and backpacking, and I find it's much easier being a little leaner. We'll see. She also recommends that her patients have no more than 2 drinks in 24 hours. **sigh** I am a wine collector and travel to many wineries in the summer and fall. I enjoy having guests over to try what I find. Two glasses of wine isn't much of a tasting. lol The roads were just awful this morning during our 100 mile drive each way. A light drizzle at 21 degrees freezes instantly on your windshield, so it was quite a task to keep it clear. I'm beat. Between the stress of the drive and the stress of having a cancer specialist examine you from head to toe, I'm totally wiped out. Going to read for a little while in front of the fireplace, then it's off to bed. Have a great night, all! |
I have been on the go all day. I had to go bra shopping this morning because Junior got ahold of all of my "good" ones a while back and tore holes in them. I've always sworn by Lane Bryant bras. They last forever! The ones I was replacing were probably a good 5 years old. I know I had them before I met BF. Well, today was my lucky day. They were having a Buy 2 Get 2 Free sale!!! I got 4 pretty, great quality bras for $95. Still a little pricey, but did I mention that they last forever? If you divide it out, that comes in at less than $24 a bra. Not too shabby!! You can't get a mediocre bra for under $25. I also did some running around today. I had to go to the trash dump, take my mom home, go pick up my niece, get niece's food, go back to my parents' house and then made it home. When I got here BF decided he wanted Chick Fil A for supper. I had Wendy's for lunch. So yeah, two fast food meals today. I made good choices though. I went through the nutrition for both meals and made the best choices I could. Lunch was under 500 calories and supper was under 800. More than I would normally eat for either meal, but I did what I had to do. Now I have to pack for BF and me to go see his sister this weekend. I also have to pack the boys' stuff for the kennel. SIL said we could bring the dogs but they would have to sleep outside. Boss would be fine with that, but Junior has never slept outside since we've had him. I'm not sure how he would do. I also don't know how he would take the 3 hour drive to get there. It's just better to put them at the kennel. It's a really nice one though. They get to go out to potty and play 7-8 times a day, they feed them on our schedule, we can take their blankets and toys. The kennel will provide food, but I pack their normal food and treats. Junior has a sensitive belly and it's just not worth him getting diarrhea because he's eaten something different. Doggie diarrhea is NOT fun. I have their blankets and stuff in the wash now, so I'll pack that after I get their food together. It's going to be a long evening so I better get to it. Not sure if I will get to check in this weekend, but will try to make good food choices. TTYL!!

I just realized I hit the 20lb loss mark from my highest. yea me!

My aunt has had breast cancer and her doctor strongly recommended that she limit wine to a few times a year! Lisa - Glad to hear your motivation is sparking again. 'That week' can play such a number on our mood. It never ceases to amaze me!!! Enjoy the visit with your parents! :) Tori - That does sound like a great deal on the bras. $24 is a steal for a good quality bra! Enjoy your weekend at your SIL! Mike - So what did your doc say? Did you get some good stuff ;) Hope you're feeling better soon! Have a great evening all! I'll be sure to check back in for accountability this weekend. |

Good morning all! It's finally the weekend and what do I do....wake up at 5:30 am!!! Grrrr! I laid in bed until 6:30 hoping to fall back to sleep but no luck. So I got up, had a cup of coffee and got in my cardio and core workout. Guess in the end, it was good that I was up early. Now I have the whole day ahead of me and I won't have to try to squeeze in my workout :D

Just a quick check in to remind myself that I'm not going back to my bad habits on weekends. =)
Spent the first half of the day going to three different grocery stores buying everything that I need for the next couple of weeks. I learned that for me, it's so much easier making out a 2 week menu and having everything in the house ready to go. Then, I just go down the list and cook whatever I have time to make that night. Big Packer game tonight and husband just walked in the door with a bag of chips and sour cream and onion dip. What a rat! I'll be eating my grapes, although a pizza and a Corona sound way better. lol =) Mike, How did it go with your doctors appt.? Hope she was able to give you something to help. We're going down to -7 degrees tonight, so there's no hope of walking for me for a few days. Currently, it's 3 degrees with 25 mph winds for a windchill of -15. Gotta love January, the coldest month of the year. Looks like I'll be a mall walker tomorrow... Yuck! Have a great night all! Off to watch my beloved Packers lose. lol ;) |
Yay Lisa. Next time you are at the grocery store pick up two 10 pound bags of potatoes. That is how much weight you have lost. Wonderful.

Libby, that's a good way to put 20 lbs into perspective. Thanks for that! Now I feel even better about it!
Debbie, congrats!!! You are doing fantastic. So glad you got your mojo back. Tori, I've never tried their bras. Thanks for the recommendation. Next time I go to buy I'll check them out. Today was a bad day. I drank a couple glasses of regular soda. I've been sick and my resolve is way down. I didn't snack much on junk food, but I did have a lot a dinner. Tonight was Tikka Masala (a middle eastern Indian dish) with rice. It was freaking tasty as all heck. I didn't log today and I'm afraid to see what my day will end up looking like. Don't know how tomorrow's weigh in will turn out. |
Downwards
Goal . I just finished my January detox and felt great down 7KG in 7 days; It was easy to do and now I am re charged and have kick started myself and am motivated again.
Sometimes I diet and don't lose a thing I just felt this was the right time for me. the Home Detox Box came in the post and was easy and I get support if I needed it too. Sometimes on a diet I force myself to do I literally feel I am heavier and miserable afterwards. mentally and physically. nor much motivation there. |
welcome back. must be nice to reach your goals. at least yu did reach...so if you did it before you can do it again.
by the way Rum cake is my absolute weakness lol...the only thing it loves me too much and stick on me so. so that's my biggest challenge. actually i am staying away from all process food . pray for me |
