Thanks for the welcomes. It is hard for me to learn names/faces and I'm thinking it will be a double challenge to remember screen names and typing. I'll do my best.

I did not make it to the gym, although Thing 3 really wanted to go. I had a migraine that felt like it was going to split my head wide open. I had to turn the light off, close my eyes and go to bed early.

At the end of the day I only had about 1400 calories! yea me! And that even included indulging in a sugar cookie cheesecake bar I made for the family. And I did log it.

Oh and I saw my primary dr. today and asked him about caffeine and it's affects, if any, on weight loss. He said that it can make me crave carbs. If that's all it does, I can live with that. I know how many I'm supposed to have a day, and as long as I stay within that I'm ok. I'll still try to drink less diet just b/c it might not be as good for me as maybe Crystal Light, but I haven't been to the store yet to buy some.

1. Move more M-n
2. Less caffeine M-n
3. Log food M-y

Mel-Mc 09-11-2013 11:58 PM

Ha ha Mern! It's a 24 ounce bottle of Mt. Dew. Which is still 350 wasted calories for the day. I wish this attack by my sinuses would get done so I could have those calories back. When you only have 1400 calories a day that is a BIG hunk to lose. Not to mention that the caffiene completely messes up my sleep patterns.

libby116 09-12-2013 12:01 AM

Mel, Go suck a lemon. :D or cut it up and put it in a pitcher of water. It's better for you than Mountain Dew and has less calories.

mcallahan757 09-12-2013 12:09 AM

Y'all are a trip!

I managed to keep within my goal calories yesterday but it was mostly because I had an IBS attack of gastronomical proportions. I am still trying to pinpoint what I ate and the only thing different was either the small piece of chicken skin (probably the culprit) or the red potatoes from 9/10. Whatever it was, I had to drug myself senseless to make the pain tolerable. My whole esophagus is still aching from the acid.

Ran again this morning and in the space of a week I have gotten the first mile of my run from 11:30 down to 9:56. Before my GI issues I could run the 1.5 in 13:26.

One of the hardest things to give up has been soda fo rme as well. Especially purple Amp energy drinks. Sigh.

I'm back

Hey all, I have missed you all and FitDay. My husband was hospitalized in for over a week and then my oldest son had some personal issues that I had to help him with. In addition, I got a severe kidney infection and felt pretty sick. I guess they are going to send me to a specialist to get checked out.

The last week I was here I hit a plateau. I had one cheat day last week where I ate anything I wanted (hadn't ate anything but fruit n veggies for four months). It's crazy because, I am dropping the weight again. Anyway, I have lost another four pounds since I logged in last. I hope you all well, and skimmed through all the posts. It seems we have some new members. Hello. :) I will try to catch up with you and what is going on. So good to be back!!!!

R'Soul: No doubt the anxiety is causing some weight loss, not to mention having an infection! Wishing you, your husband, and son the best through all your travails.

Mern: You are such an inspiration! I'm sure that extra 11 lbs, will be gone in 3 months, perhaps another 11 after that. You're right about the "BUT"s: Log everything! That seems to be key. (I've done over 18 months of continuous logging now, and know that work will be whisked away as if by the wind if I stop.)

As for exercise, 150 minutes is one of my 'standing' goals also. It gets easier once you're in the habit. What works for me is 1 hour twice a week, plus 30 mins one other day: Monday night: 1 hr to work off the weekend bloat, Tues: rest, Weds morning: 1 hr rev up to get over the 'hump,' Thurs: rest, Fri, Sat, or Sun: Fit in that extra 30 mins! (or a short (5 - 10 min) ab set on a few of the other days to make up the remainder. As always, simple, but not easy.

Gotta run. I've spent too much time lately on my Quixotic fight against the determination of a hospital's evil 'Utilization Management Group.'

I have to come back here and STAY back here. Our plan of attack is:

1. (Her encouragement first--that's the kind of doc she is: :) ) Keep up the good work on limiting my daily carbs to 25g net, dietary cholesterol to 250mg, and sat fat to about 10% of total daily calories as I learned to do pretty much from memory

BUT

2. Log everything to be sure I'm not exceeding 1600 calories per day.

3. Exercise 150 minutes per week--whatever I want to do as long as it is legitimate exercise and however I want to do it--5 days for 1/2 hour per day or just keeping track of how many minutes I exercised on whatever days.

4. Come back for a weigh-in in three months.

So those first three are my simple goals for this week.

Good doc and good goals, Mern!!! And I will join you as I have gained 10 pounds from my lowest, six from the weight I was maintaining for a while. I have lost 1.5 so far.

My BP has been up a little bit lately. Hopefully it will be down by next week or she may up my meds! Have been noticing I've been "grazing" lately. I do try to have a glass of water instead of doing that.

Hope how goes the writing? I've been working on something but it's very rough and not coming together.

Jenn

Jenn, thanks for asking. Writing has actually been going very well. Keep at yours; it's often rough at first but I'm sure you know that. It will get better. It's tough though; believe me, I know that. Dont give up!

I am already at 1300 calories for the day........ lame. Well it looks like veggies for dinner!

Works for me (blaming autumn.) Actually, it doesn't lol and I've gotta get my act together. 1300 is not too bad....

robin please stay you will be missed if you leave.
Hope that was clever about the droids.
Mern sorry you gained so much weight this last year. We all miss you when you don't post.
Speaking of missing where is mike and ian?

Thank you but that was not me about the droids. That was Libby. I wouldn't know a droid from an I Phone, hahaha.

canary52 09-12-2013 02:07 AM

Goals:
1) Plan food, yes the eating whatever is getting me into trouble! Yes and I ate twice as much as was on the plan, no yes and I stuck to it pretty well
2) Hypnotize myself into drinking more water: you are getting very thirsty... drink more: yes, yes, yes so thirsty lately (hypnotism working?)
3) Daily stretch; yes, no yes
4) Gym 3x this week: yes, no, no
5) meditate: SERENITY NOW!!!! no, no, no - serenity later?
6) practice Spanish- no, no un poco
7) full day of work: FOCUS - yes, yes, YES

canary52 09-12-2013 02:10 AM

Plan:
Ezkiel muffin and soy cream cheese
cantaloupe
egg salad and salad
berries
1.5 oz leftover salmon as snack (weird, I know)
small turkey burger
veg
Vitamuffin

There is a healthy eating fair a lot of my friends and aquaintances are sponsoring tonight. But it is promoting a diet comapny so I have mixed feelings. And honestly, I know that part of my out of control eating is a response to my obsessiveness about food. So IDK. Plus there will be samples, always a danger for me lol. They are doing a one mile walk this morning but I missed it because I had a bad night's sleep. Plus a mile is challenging for me as I am in a flare. So I may just go to the gym.

To all who are suffering from health issues, allergies, chronic conditions, I send you big gentle hugs and the wish that you can all heal quickly and completely.

libby116 09-12-2013 02:38 AM

Yes that was me with the Droids. I wish I had one to do the house work. Old dog was sick on the front hall mat this morning and dog two is going to get a bath today.
R Soul, we missed you. I am so glad that you are back.

adyndravo1 09-12-2013 05:06 AM

Today is rest day. Or was going to be. I may go out and start loading the trailer back up wieth branches. The plumber calledwith a bid. We will hopefully get our cold water back up and running soon. Don't feel to bad today.
Jedi I have a problem with names and faces as well. Ask me what I remember from the possie (horse and rider drill team) aor the dog club. I can name some of the horses and dogs but not the owners. I get migrains also, my room is painted brown for a reason. I had to get rid of the caffeine because of the head, there are a lot of drinks out there without it. I like some crystal lights. Think I will make up some reaspberrie lemonaid.
RS welcom back. Wishing you and your family get well soon.
Hope sorry. Libby it was cute I laughed a lot. Thankyou for the hug and one back at you

Really wanted to get caught up with all of you today, but just couldn't get to it. Have a horrible sinus headache from the darned weed pollen allergy and the meds aren't touching it. With the grandkids gone home and dinner cooked, I'm going to let DH clean up the kitchen while I pop an antihistamine and try to nap.

No formal exercise today with this headache, but I had to run up to the middle school to take a granddaughter shoes when her flip-flop broke, so I parked where I thought it would be a quarter mile round trip from the parking lot to the school office and back and walked very briskly. I want MARTYR POINTS--or at least some cheese with my whine. ;)

Kudos to all who are doing well and big hugs of support to all who are struggling. I'll try to read more of the posts later, but for now:

Robin, I'm so glad you are going to try to stick around for a while. You are a big part of the glue that holds this group together.

It's been an exhausting day, bathing both dogs and cleaning up messes.
I'm going to pack it in early tonight.

adyndravo1 09-12-2013 11:54 AM

Evening all. I had a good long chat with my sister that does not live with me. We satand talked for over 2 hours. I forgot to eat lunch before I left home. Know better but what can I say. Had pizza for supper.I logged everything and just stayed under my calorie limit. Hope you all have a good evening.

Mel-Mc 09-12-2013 01:01 PM

I was on track with my calories until I needed a second bottle of Mt. Dew for my choking. 700 calories just in liquids put me over. Libby, I wish some water would fix this choking feeling as I drink between 1-3 liters every day. I'd never have to worry about choking again. :D Straight lemon juice would do but it would have nearly as many calories and be worse for my stomach.

So much for the negatives, I'll give myself points for getting all my exercise and eating nutritiously.

Best wishes for happy sinuses to everyone else suffering.

JediMindTricks 09-13-2013 01:19 AM

Mern, I'll give you Martyr points! That was really good to park far away and get some walking in. I don't think I would have done that.

Thing 3 and I made it to the gym last night. I fell asleep around 6:30p.m. and woke up at about 8:15. I was awake, I was feeling refreshed, and I said no more excuses! So I got up and told him to get ready. Our time got cut very short (only 10 minutes at a good pace on the treadmill) because Thing 3's leg was hurting real bad where he has a bone tumor. I keep telling him to do his stretches everyday, but he doesn't always listen. So some time is better than no time, and I was just happy that I went.

Going out to dinner tonight with the family. I'm not sure that I'm going to pay a whole lot of mind to my calories. I have dropped 4 lbs already since I started counting calories. Yesterday I only had about 1100 calories, and that was including a big chocolate macadamia nut cookie that my dh brought home. He said that me not buying snacks anymore has put his fat into shock, so he rebelled and bought bakery cookies plus a package of chocolate chip cookies. I admit I had 3 in the middle of the night. :( 150 calories. But I did count them. I was kind of angry b/c I wasn't hungry. I knew I wasn't hungry. And I wasn't craving either. But I ate them simply b/c they were there. Which is why I stopped buying that crap in the first place!

1. Move more W-n; T-y
2. Less caffeine W-n; T-n (I don't think I'm going to do very good on this one this week until I get to the store and buy some Crystal Light)
3. Log food W-y; Th-y

libby116 09-13-2013 05:24 AM

Jedi, sounds like you and your son had a rough day yesterday. Enjoy your dinner out and enjoy the evening with your family. My DH loves his pie and cookies. I used to resent him eating junk in front of me but now I just ignore it. He is not the one with the weight problem. I am. Have a better day today.

01gt4.6 09-13-2013 10:30 AM

Well I was nearly threatened for my disappearance and was told that I needed to come back. :p

Well I obviously haven't made any goals because I've been MIA but I have worked out 4 times this week. I may make it five, we'll see. One of my "normal" goals is to usually write 2-3 policies for the week. I already have 4 and am about to finish up on my 5th.

Diet has been so-so, I'm still fat so I need to get my ass in gear.

I'll try to check in this weekend.

It's been a chilly day. I stayed inside sorting through my fall and winter clothes and putting my summer clothes in storage. It's not likely any of it will fit next year. Have a good week end.

adyndravo1 09-13-2013 12:45 PM

Good day all. I got up and out side and trimed up a couple bushes and 4 trees. I put it on the pile to be removes tomorrow. I then went around where becky and I trimed up the aspen logs and picked up all the branches. I got in my arobic workout to day. My heart was beating way faster and I got resistence in some of those warter shoots were way tough to cut with my pruners. Some I should really go back out and take a bow saw to. Tomorrow looks to be a busy day. If everyone comes who is suppose to. All the brush piles will be hauled out and the shed painted.
Mike glad to see you at least cheched in with us.

libby116 09-13-2013 11:33 PM

Yesterday I sorted though my clothes and put my summer clothes that were in the dresser into a rubber maid container and my summer clothes from the closet into a hanging bag in the closet. My winter clothes are now in my dresser and closet. I did a quick guesstimate of what my weight will be by next summer if I continue to lose 3 pounds a month. Now I am wondering if
I shouldn't just give my summer clothes away. What would you do?

jjrudd 09-14-2013 01:30 AM

Libby, it depends on what you wear. I would say just get rid of them. Summer clothes are less expensive to buy than fall/winter clothes. T-shirts are inexpensive and I can usually find ones for $10 at Walmart. Blue or black and white capris will take you anywhere.

Welcome back Mike! I had to laugh at your comment "I'm still fat". I have Dr appointment on 17th and was hoping to have lost a few pounds. According to scale at home I haven't gone up which is surprising since I haven't been eating well.

Next week I need to make some goals and make myself a priority!
Jenn

Robingen 09-14-2013 01:56 AM

Jen nice to see you...........yes you need to look after yourself.

Libby I.m not so sure about the summer clothes. If throwing them out will motivate you that's great, but it's a long time away from now, I don't know how much motivation that will be. It's true that you need to believe in yourself, that you will be smaller.

I have literally not shopped for clothes since I met my goal. I bought one new pair of jeans last winter. I had some smaller clothes and the "work clothes" don't show the size change as much. I think there is something "mental" though that is blocking me from shopping. That being said I am NOT a person who enjoys that.

It's been a challenging week for me and monday my son has surgery on one eye. I have had to really juggle work to get away for that 2 days. Life is always so complicated! Fortunately I have kept up the morning yoga everyday.

mcallahan757 09-14-2013 07:08 AM

Robin, good luck with you son on the eye surgery!
I Would be in a state of panic if my boy were going in for anything non-routine!

I am in a meh mood today even though I have lost two and a half pounds. I broke down at the salad bar and scarfed about a pound of antipasto. I will walk it off tonight as we are headed out to Busch Gardens in less than an hour.

adyndravo1 09-14-2013 07:29 AM

Hello. I have had a busy morning. Went out to the back corner and picked up the rest of the limbs and bark off the ground and then went to work on painting or wooden shed. We are more then half done. I did the ladder work. I will need to get the etention ladder for the very top of the eves on both ends. Spider got onemore day to live before I knock it to the ground. Hate spiders. I have a phobia of falling. I was on the ladder. something not right here. I know my sister won't climb that high. I know the fear is there and I have to make myself do ladders ext. High is not a problem.
Sounds like every one is mostly doing okay. ATalk ato you all latter.:)

JediMindTricks 09-14-2013 11:55 AM

Dinner out last night with my dh and Things 2-4 was so much fun. We really had a good time. Although I don't know the exact count for everything I ate, I entered in "Generic Calories", which is a custom food I have, and estimated pretty high. It'll take a while to make up for the excess, but it was worth it. My dh announced we are going to Disneyland in January, so he told me I need to get into walking shape. Not that he expects me to lose a ton of weight by then, but he wants my endurance built up better. I had planned on going to the gym tonight with Thing 3, but he's got a friend staying the night. Dare I go by myself??? eek! :p Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I decide to give away all the clothes that are too big now. Today was very busy. I didn't have a proper meal till supper out with family for DH's B-day.
I had a sensible meal and green tea while every one ate dessert. Then we went bowling which I haven't done in a long time but it was fun. Super day.

mcallahan757 09-15-2013 03:05 AM

Taking measurements of myself today. I leave to go back to base and might not get to see my family again untill late next month with the training I am going into. Sad. I am down another .5 lb according to my scale though so that is at least a happy moment. I will post my weekly goals tomorrow.

adyndravo1 09-15-2013 07:04 AM

Hello all. I stayed with my goals most of the week. A little low on the water one day. I am doing fine with water so far today. My back is really tender from all the bending and lifting and climbing ladders today so will take it a bit easy today.
On a happy note I did lost the 1.5lbs I gained last week to I am sitting real nice as far as this month goes. We have 2 more weeks this sept. Going to work really hard to lose more. I would like to loose another 2 pounds tis month.Talk to you all latter.nyda

Goals this week

Drop my mile run time under 9:30
Drop another 1+ lbs
Find satisfying snacks to combat hunger
Keep calories between 1600-1800
Not go crazy- College class (online) starts Tuesday and military training class starts Thursday.
Drink less alcohol

mgrygiel 09-16-2013 12:33 AM

Would love to join all of you in your posts. I lost 30lbs last year and I could use a little support. I have gained 10 of it back and I need to re-commit. Evenings are my tough time. Any tips would be appreciated. I think part of the problem is I'm tired. I am 53 and sleep and I are not the best of friends these days. I think I eat at night because I need to go to bed but I feel bad about saying goodnight to my husband when he just gets home at 7:30. Truthfully, though-- I really need to get in bed most nights by 9 so that I can get up early to workout before work. Any suggestions for a evening routine that will encourage a restful sleep? Does anybody else struggle with this? Oh Here are my stats.

Goals this week are
1. Post in forum daily
2. Log everything I eat
3. 64oz water daily (16oz with each meal--and one at work)
4. No eating "after" dinner
5. 6 workouts a week

Yoga is a wonderful way to wind down or a walk. Ligh stretching yoga as opposed to a sweat inducing routine. I have the opposite problem myself, I go to bed early and snap awake too early. Usually in bed at 9 or so but if I go to bed at 8 I am up at 3am. I just go running when I am already up that early.

Robingen 09-16-2013 11:16 AM

The secret is really to have a winding down routine, yoga/stretching, breathing exercises, warm bath, no caffeine later than noon. No screen time. Yep I am full of suggestions, I fall asleep in less than 30 secs.

Dailine 06-23-2014 09:02 AM

Be sure to know first the problem
