Is there a place to enter ingredients for recipes?

I am new to fitday.com and wonder if there is a place on this site where you can enter the ingredients for recipes and find out the calorie count per serving for our own recipes?

With the free web version of FitDay, no. What I do is create a custom food and put in a serving, after first having added up the ingredients either manually or using another on-line recipe calculator.

I believe the PC version of FitDay allows you to do actually enter recipes.

Figuring out calorie counts for own recipes

Here's the method I use for figuring out calorie counts, etc. for my own recipes:

1. Go to the next day on the calendar (i.e., the day after the current day) and then enter the recipe ingredients just as if they were foods for the day. For example, with a muffin recipe I made today, I entered 1 c. flour, .5 c sugar, and so on.

2. Use the total calories and nutrition breakdowns for the "day"--which is the same as for the recipe since that's all that's on that page at the moment--and divide the key measures (calories, g. fat, carbs, & protein) by the number of servings the recipe makes. (For my muffin recipe, I divided by 12 since I made 12 muffins with it.) NOTE: the Google search box works as a quick and easy calculator if you don't have one handy.

3. Enter the key numbers from your recipe (calories, g. fat, protein, & carbs) for ONE serving into the "Create custom foot" feature just under the "browse foods" and "recent foods" links.

4. Erase all the ingredients from the foods list for tomorrow so that you have a clean slate for tomorrow's foods.

What an excellent idea. I usually use SparkPeople's recipe calculator but this way I can just stay on this site.
