Did I place myself right?

Ok I just started FitDay the other day and I am still getting used to where to find stuff, etc. Today I was checking my calorie balance and I started wondering if I had my activity level set too high. I'm at 'standing work' right now. My job involves being on my feet for the entire 8 hours in a relatively small space. (front desk clerk) but when I'm home I'm pretty much on my butt except for household chores and my exercise time. So my question is, am I really 'standing work' or would I be better defined as something like mostly sitting with some standing? If there could be examples on the site for the 'standing work' option, that would be so helpful.

Hi Cheri. Welcome to FitDay!

It sounds like you've chosen the correct lifestyle. If you go to the next lower setting it certainly wouldn't hurt; it would be more conservative and the result would be that you'd be burning less calories per day, so you'll be eating less to stay within your calorie balance. But I think you'll be fine. You can see how it works and then adjust it later if need be.

Don't forget to add sleep as an activity.

Check out the link below which will give you some tips, but it sounds like you've got a great start!

Be sure like Vito said to add sleep as an activity. If you are worried about the sitting around you can add sitting watching tv as an activity. That will deduct those hours from your lifestyle setting. Some people prefer to use just lifestyle, sleep and any actual exercise while others choose to log each activity if it lasts longer than 10 mins. it is all up to you.
