Another one is fiber. Then you could look at what percentages of your carbs are fiber. I think right now you kind of have to look at each item you add to your log and do the math. It would be nice if it were side-by-side with carbs or a checkbox that does the subtraction for you to arrive at "net carbs" rather than gross carbs.

But yes, sugar (in all its forms) is probably more important to track than fat. People are really coming around to that idea. Fructose is probably the worst sugar because of its dramatic effect on insulin.

I just started using this site and have noticed that there is no place to add the sugars for foods either. I used the alcohol option to enter foods yesterday for the sugars, but can't figure out why there is no entry for sugars when adding a food.

Technically Speaking about the sugar section The section for Carbohydrates is the main factor for the sugar section. I'm a Type 2 Diabetic and Yes I read food labels and always research fruits and vegetables that are NOT processed but are raw like bananas and broccoli to see the nutrients in them. Carbs are sugar period. Diabetics should be eating approximately 35 to 40 carbs in the morning and 65 to 70 carbs in the afternoon and at dinner time. So when you see Carbs listed on the Food Label look at the sugars and notice the carbs are usually more that sugar levels in most foods. The sugar number is included in the carbs Number. so it is the Carbs number you want to really pay attention to because it is the deciding factor. reduce cards you reduce your sugars irregardless the food.

"Carbs are sugar period." But fiber is counted as a carb and I don't consider fiber to be a carb. Some people want to differentiate between carbs, 12 grams of fiber is going to affect my body differently than 12 grams of sugar

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I don't have time to read 12 more pages...

I see this thread started in 2010... Has anyone from FitDay ever responded to this request or solved the mystery of why FitDay does not include sugar in the nutritional data and records? It's listed separately on every nutritional chart out there, so why not on FitDay? I know it can be calculated using carbs data, but I just want to be able to see at a glance not start doing sums (especially when food producers have already done it for us on packaged food).

I have to assume that if there was an intent to add sugar as a separate line item it would have happened by now. Does anyone have a positive recommendation for an alternative site with an app with similar features - a food log, food/weight calendar, goals, charts, etc - that does list and track sugar in the normal way?

We don't offer complete carbohydrate breakdown, but we can suggest it to our tech team/developers.

It's been over 10 years since this thread started and over 3 years since the last response by an administrator. I'd like to know when this will be implemented. It's been on the Nutrition Facts label since it came out in 1994 and other nutrition trackers include it. It seems like the only ones still disputing the importance of tracking sugar intake are the sugar industry. Their marketing arm, the Sugar Association were instrumental in misleading the public about the role of sugar in heart disease and even paid Harvard University "researchers" to help them. The story is on NPR entitled 50 Years Ago, Sugar Industry Quietly Paid Scientists To Point Blame At Fat. (Sorry I'm not allowed to post links yet).
