Endorphins are better then food
I really love a 'runners high' and working out makes me happier then eating. After a unfortunate, knee injury, I am starting to work out after surgery.
I never get hurt at the 'gym' or during sports. It was a simple hike and fall that layed me up for a while.
Any athletes recovering and dieting? I really need support to get over the fear of injury. (my ankles, thank God, are still strong for skating)

Endorphins are compounds produced by the pituitary gland and hypothalamus during certain activities, including not only strenuous exercise but also excitement, orgasm, even laughter anything that causes pleasure. Thanks for sharing.

For the past two years, I have been really active. I played tennis two or three times a week, ran two or three times a week, and worked out with weights. It got me to my goal weight and I maintained it for a long time, but injuries have started to take a toll and between that, the holidays, and being super-busy at work now, a few pounds have crept back on. I didn't have one significant injury requiring surgery like you did, but the multiple things I've had happen have really compromised my activities.
My best advice is to take it slow; come up with a plan to start small and gradually work up to it. Make sure you do all the PT exercises the way you're supposed to. Listen to your body and use what you know about yourself to know when it's a good pain (pushing the limits) and when pain means stop. Good luck.
