Did 19min Wii Fit (step and obstacle course)--unfortunately had plumber in and finished at dinnertime so went out. Did start off with salad and had chicken but the potato and roll probably should not have been combined (but the roll is sooo yummy).

Jjrudd – I was lauging at your person falling off the ice! I do bikes with video screens built in at the Y, and I often drive off cliffs, or kill other riders! And, I hear you about “the roll is so yummy” – I try for “if taste is all I want – half will do”, but it doesn’t always work!

SW, hope those shoes serve you well – I think I’m due for a similar investment.

Climan, Welcome – sorry you pulled a muscle, but you have others!

Blame the Women’s Gymnastic Team, they kept me up too late. I did make it to the Y, but did 20 minutes of running instead of 35, followed by Boot Camp, where I think I did a good job!

Guess I'm responding to myself, but, that's OK, I know the rest of you are too busy exercising to sit at computers!

Wonderful short run, followed by blissful yoga!

I had a doctor's appt. today - it felt so good to be able to answer "yes" to the question "do you exercise at least twice a week?" And he noticed I had lost some weight

Jamie, I found myself looking forward to my annual physical (which was Monday), my doctor has been encouraging over the years, but I thought she was going to start dancing when she pulled up my weight graph on the computer, and then listening to my heart said "nice and slow, the heart of a runner" - a bit of a change from a few years ago when she looked a the same screen and said "what is going on with your weight?"

Today was a great run, 5 miles in 45 minutes, some hills, mostly just keep going... felt good!

Abby

I have exercised for 30 mins 4 times this week--so proud of myself. Taking the weekend off since it's going to be over 100 degrees. Yes, I have A/C but any exercising just wipes me out! Was told by dietician that 30 mins 5 times a week is what I should aim for. Finally getting my carb count to where it should be too.

I woke up early this morning to squeeze in a 4-miler before work, since I'm going to a jazz concert this evening with my folks and wife
Hi Nik,
I know you'll knock off those pounds in a jiffy! So tell us about the food!! You might have to post it in white so that those that don't need the food porn, don't have to see it.

And to you and Abby, after getting married to my long time (15yr) guy, I just love saying "husband" and hearing "wife". Never thought I would.

JJRudd, did you get that 15 minutes in? We will cheer for every increaed minute

Nice work Jamie – it’s amazing what posting does for us.

Speaking of posting, Pam, we miss you!

For me, it was a very badly behaved weekend, of which we will say no more, today I did a great kettlebell class, I was the only one who showed, so got lots of individual attention, and learned how to do a Turkish Get Up (that’s a 12 step process from lying on your back to standing up, the hardest part is remembering the next step!).

Have a strong day
Ooooh Turkish Get Up! I just learned them a couple of weeks ago. They require not only some strength, but flexibility.

I am back after an unexpected hiatus. I knew I would be away for a while due to travel and work, but hadn't expected to be off FitDay for more than 2 weeks . The exercise has been a little touch and go, but I have gotten it in when I can. Last week we did a 3 day backpacking trip in the Sierras - the weather and everything else was perfect. DH was struggling a little with the long hills (at 9000 feet), but I gotta say it was a walk in the woods for me .

So Abby, did I see a 7:30min mile??? Wow, woman! way to go, you are now well into the speed demon catagory.

However, I've got some new running shoes due to arrive today and plan on breaking them in after work and then a trip to the gym.

So, I broke in my new shoes with a 5mile run in 99* temps, ya that was fun. I then went to the gym and lifted for 40 min, felt great.
The rest of the week is supposed to be in the triple digits so I'm gonna try to shift my running to the AM before work, or just do cardio at the gym.
Hey, we all need a little indulgence once in a while. Nothing like new shoes to get the motivation going again, but 99* - yuck! The last time I tried doing any distance at 90+ degrees it took me a week to recuperate.

Awesome! I wish more people could answer YES. I keep looking around as seeing so many overweight, unhealthy teen agers around me, I am really worried about future health costs for our population.

Way to go! Give yourself a big ol' pat on the back. Taking a couple of days off is often helpful in the long run, just make sure you back to it on Monday.

Congratulations! Way to go with increasing exercise and getting carbs under control! One week (day, hour) at a time, and you will start to see big improvements in how you feel and what you can do!

Welcome back Pam!
I put some more miles on the new shoes- 6.7 more and the weather was only 89* with cloud cover and wasn't too bad.
I'm heading out to Muir Woods on Sunday for some hiking which will be a nice change.

So far this morning, I went fishing for about an hour and walked about a mile, I then went for a 3.25 mile run and then went shooting for about 45 min. I hoping to squeeze in a gym session and mow my yards before I go to a "Tamale" party later this evening.
