I miss my run. I can't believe I said this because I use to said that I can't run and I just can't until 2 years ago I learn to run and I love it. Now I got plantar fasciitis and can't run. I feel very sad.
I hope I can run again sometimes soon.

Mai, my heart goes out to you – I am so loving that I have the joy of running, which is less than two years old for me, I’d be sad to lose this joy, but, I’ve also learned that fitness isn’t just one thing, and I know you find other options too.
Sara, An intersting thing about this forum is that the words written to help one person, help us all, so putting up a statement about “aplogizing for my running” gets Coach (HandyCycle) to give that great wisdom, and gets me to think about the ways in which I apologize even when I am doing my best.
Today was spinning with the awesome instructor – challenging class, I felt like I worked really hard, and was a little dizzy at the end (hey, cheapest drugs on the street!) . Finished with my crunches, and find 30 is now the baseline – I guess I should increase the weight (I’m using 5 lbs), or increase the incline on the bench (it’s at 4, going to 5 seems a huge jump!).
Have great weekends!

it's one day at a time folks....
Most folks trying to lose weight dread hearing that you have to exercise but there's no way around it. I agree it can be extremely hard to get started but once you start (and keep at it) it gets easier. I never thought I'd reach the point I am at today. I used to nag at my husband for hitting the gym as often as he did. He's in excellent physical shape and I didn't see "the point" of consistently going. Now however, I am that person craving (yes, I said craving) the gym.
For me what works is logging my work out before my day starts so nothing interferes with it. I am at the gym by 6:00 am and then I've got it out of the way.I hit it six days a week most of the time (3 days of cardio and 3 of weight training) taking Sundays to rest, go to church, etc. My endurance on the ellyptical, the treadmill, etc is significantly higher plus I feel great after. The "exercise high" is not imagined. It's real. Also adding something called True Lime (crystallized lime juice) to my water makes drinking 8 glasses plus a breeze.
Am I where I want to be? Not yet. Lost 14 pounds since January but have another 16 or so to go. The weight kept going up at first which had me thinking of giving up but then it started coming down a pound or so a week and now some weeks I end up losing 3-4!.
Do you have to do it at a gym? No. JUST DO IT!

Welcome Ramelia, you are so right about learning to crave exercise, congratulations on your loss.
Saturday was a lovely run, 3.18 miles around the neighborhood in early AM. (Got to add 0.02 to that so I can say 3.2).
Today I did one fast mile on the treadmill followed by weight lifiting, I got some trainer time, so I worked on form and learned a few things.
Stay Strong!

By running and doing pilates, you will not lose muscle in your legs. And you don't want to. As much as 65% of your total muscle mass is in your leg and hip muscles. Losing muscle mass there will negatively impact your ability to maintain weight.

Welcome Panda, Listen to HandyCycle, he is wise!
Today - spinning class, the less good instructor, but the director attended the class, so he's working on it. I call her the "b" instructor, but I got an amazing workout, set a new personal record for number of miles, and sweated about two towels worth - so maybe she's awesome in her quiet way.
I followed with crunches - moved the tilt on the bench up to 5 (max), and got to 30 with a 5 lb weight - captain's chair, bicycle crunches, and I'm on fire!

lastri, I had plantar fasciitis and it took a long time to heal. If I ever get it again I would go to a specialist buy the time it healed I was out of shape and had 20 unwanted pounds. I am slowly getting back in shape and very happy getting out to walk again.
