I also did it 'my way' for a while. Translation: I did the program the lazy way!

I backtracked and did Power 90 (the prequel if you will to the X) and have gotten great results. I actually made it the 12 weeks through P90 without missing a single workout and am really pumped to start the X and actually be dedicated to it.

I'd really like to see a photo gallery of people who didn't take all the supplements from beachbody to see how much difference those really make, especially since I won't be partaking in them.

I start the X a week from today, June 21 and would love to keep this thread going to talk about any frustrations, set backs, but (most importantly) how amazing it will feel to go through the program and see those results!

congrats on completing P90!

Some of you may know that I don't mind showing my pics, so I'll start the photo gallery. I didn't use any beachbody supplements. I use my own concoction of various supplements. I also didn't follow the nutrition plan, I did my own "diet"

far left was a few months before starting P90X, I lost some weight before starting the program, far right was about 2/3 through round 2

I haven't done P90X in while but here's my latest. The stomach scar is on the opposite side b/c the pic was taken in the mirror.

@ wannabefitgrl- CONGRATS on finishing P90! I agree with you, I'd love to keep this thread going...I think it will really help to have people to share this experience with. I'm REALLY excited for you to start so we can "compare notes". I won't be doing the supplements either. I am doing my own "diet" and really just trying to find the balance between a "diet" and a lifestyle change. I've made some really big improvements in the past year and with all the past "diets" I've been on I know how to eat right. I will try to get up the courage to post my pics @ 30 days :o

@ 01gt4.6 WOW! You look amazing! That's some awesome motivation right there.

I completed day 2/90 today. Plyo! I LOVE Plyo! It's definitely one of my favorite P90X workouts. I had to do the modified moves for some of it because I have a knee injury from training for the half but I got through it!

01gt4.6 06-15-2010 03:33 AM

thanks.

Plyo is a fun one and really burns some calories, if you need to modify, mosify, modify! I think Chest, Tricepd and Bicep was my favorite, 2nd would be Kenpo. I liked Yoga during round one b/c I felt like I needed it, it wasn't until round two that I started switching things up, such as substituting Yoga for an extra chest or leg workout.

Keep in mind eveyone... the 1st week or two are the hardest, don't let it get you down. The program does get easier.

GT, you do look great, congrats on such amazing progress. All the X talk has me really pumped to start. My bday is mid-August and I'll be going home for a big bday bash (lots of family has August bday so we do one big party for everyone). I'm hoping to drop a few more pounds and look even better by then, and since almost none of my family has seen me since Christmas, I'm expecting some rave reviews!

Keep the posts coming and I'll be pitching in with my X experience very soon!

Yeah i'm doing it to but my 3rd week I fell off and took a week off even though I shouldn't have. Its just its boring doing p90x alone I need an X partner. But anyway I'm doing week 3 over but i'm reversing this last week schedule for fun to see what works for me. If anyone wants good nutrition advice & a p90x partner, i'm your guy!

@ wannabefitgrl My birthday's in Aug too! The 19th.

@ Mane I plan on checking in on here as much as I can so maybe you can do that too. We can all help keep each other going. I know what you mean about working out on your own but I figure I'm doing this for myself so it's now my "me time". Luckily my husband is my biggest fan so that does help!

Day 3/90 OMG I am so sore. lol I wasn't sure I was going to make it through shoulders and arms today with the soreness I felt BEFORE I even started but I did it! I kept remembering JUST PRESS PLAY!! As I was going through the workout I started to really get into it and I wasn't focusing on my sore muscles so much as the fact that I was getting it done. I started to feel too good about finishing to care what hurt. (good hurt not bad hurt.) So now that I'm done and know I'm going to hurt tomorrow here's the question of the day:

What's a good recovery drink? Besides the one you buy from Beachbody...just something you can get at the grocery store.

I like questions :)

Believe it or not many people say that good ole chocolate milk is a good post workout "recovery" drink b/c is has a good ratio of fats, carbs and proteins. Most people think I'm crazy but if you do a google search you'll see that there have been many test proving this. I didn't go that route. I like the idea of needing a fast carb (banana) and a fast protein (whey protein). IMO protein is the key to recovery and conserving muscle. I couldn't not tell you when the last time that I was sore from a workout and I think that's mainly do to my protein intake. I bust my ass in gym on a regular basis and am rarely sore. If you don't want a protein powder, look into the chocolate milk, or try chicken, fish, etc. Most of my daily protein comes from real food but I do consume whey after my workouts and casein before bed.

Don't forget a good daily vitamin as well! You may want to look into fish oil and glucosamine condraitin if you start having joint pain. I know I had to during P90X.

IIRC tomorrow should be Yoga? Your soreness should go away after the dreaded hour and a half of Yoga.

My chin-up bar was delivered yesterday! In previous X workouts, I made do with bands and whatever I could rig up at home. I finally ordered an actual bar and put it up today. I tried a few moves to see where I'm at (figured all the p90 would have given me a little bit of an edge, right?). Yea boy was I wrong. I could maybe get halfway up on a chin up, but the pull ups were impossible. At least I know I'll have something to gauge progress on.....

So GT, question for you since you love them so much...I used the food log to map out what I plan to eat next week when I start the X. My pro/carb/fat ratio will be about 40/40/30 and upped my calorie intake to roughly 1900 (sounds low, but I'm only eating 1600-1800 right now and usually stick to the low end of that). I know I'll have to see how I feel and all, but does it seem like a decent starting point?

40/40/30??? You really are giving it 110% aren't you ;). I guess you meant 40/40/20. I did 40/40/20 for a while but felt like I needed more carbs so I'm usually around a 45/35/20 split, but that's what works for me, you may be different. As far as amount of calories you should consume, it's hard to say without knowing the type of lifestyle you have. Here's a good site to help you with that. Calorie Calculator - Daily Caloric Needs
