Jason, all the p90x materials, forums, yadda yadda yadda say over and over how it's common to shed a lot of weight in phase one (hence calling it the fat shredder phase), but then the weight loss stops during phase two. However, all the change will come rolling back during phase 3 when the workouts are changing weekly and you're feeding your body all the carbs the diet calls for. Just hang in there! It will start coming back, just be patient and don't give up.

has everyone done the p90x diet also? i did the dvds for about 6 weeks and did not see much results - i also ran 4-5 days a week while doing it - now - i am going to start over with the meal plan too - i am not a meal planner - so it intimidates me to sit down to organize meals. feed back on the meal plans?

cerra, I got my P90X from a friend so it was lacking all the reading materials. I did, however, find an excel spreadsheet tool online that gives the calorie ranges for the different eating levels and portions of protein, veg, etc., to eat for each phase.

That being said, even when I'm not doing P90X, I plan my meals ahead of time, make sure I have all the groceries for it (or make a grocery list for them), and spend sometime on the weekend making/prepping them. I tend to eat roughly the same thing all week. So on Saturday I make a big pot of soup and take that and a half sandwich for lunch all week. It's simple, easy, and doesn't stress me out with having to plan something for every day.

P90X also tells you when to eat a single (100 cal) or double (200 cal) snack, so I made a list of snacks that fall within those ranges and keep those ingreidents on hand. It makes it easy to grab a snack when I'm hungry and keeps me from eating just junk (or over-eating). Consider it 'eating with a plan'. It will take some getting used to, but once you start, it won't be so bad.

Some of my fav snacks:
-hard-boiled eggs (make a dozen or whatever on the weekend, keep them in the fridge to grab all week)
-greek yogurt and an apple or some graham crackers (sometimes I add a little honey and cinnamon)
-Yogurt and granola
-Peanut butter and an apple
-Carrots (or almost any veggie or fruit) and cottage cheese
-Hummus and veggies (I like to eat mine with carrots)
-Salsa and celery
-Cheese and crackers (just pick a healthy cracker and low fat cheese)
-Oatmeal (sometimes I add an apple, cinnamon, almonds, and a little honey for a more filling snack)
-piece of cheese and slice of lunchmeat rolled up, with or without mustard (even just plain lunchmeat is good, if it's low fat...and be sure to watch the sodium content)
-protein shakes and bars are super quick for an on-the-go snack

Mix and match, come up with your own, just have fun with your food! If you don't enjoy the process, you'll never stick to it!

You gals have inspired me to finally open my P90X. I've had it for weeks and haven't started it. JUNE 1 will be my start date. I'll try it a few times this weekend to get the feel for it.

Thanks for your story!

risco, congrats on starting. I can say that I've begun P90X a few times. Sometimes I don't finish, sometimes I don't take it serious enough, yadda yadda. I know what I should be doing, but don't exactly do it. I actually decided to take a step back and am doing power 90 (prequel to P90X) so build more of the background I needed, plus it's given me time to get my eating under control.

I have a couple weeks left, then I'll be starting my P90X as well. All I can say is it's taken me a few tries to get serious so give it your best shot, don't get discouraged, and don't be afraid to take it in steps. Best of luck!

Hey there, if you guys want the p90 videos in avi format( the beachbody and p90x), I can definitely help send them to you, just pm me. OF course, you should buy it later on if you do decide to use it!

Also, I did this program last year for weight gain instead of loss, and it worked out pretty well. My rowing team uses a modified version of this for the HIIT days.

There were some pretty heavy boys and gals on the rowing team, and they definitely slimmed/cut up for sure.

Would you happen to know how many calories (on average) are burned in P90x workouts. I am just starting and wanted to add the activities to the FitDay tab (although it does not appear that you can create a customized exercise).

there are too many variables. Not everyone will burn at the same rate, intensity level is a big factor as well. You can get a HR monitor/ calorie tracker. I would ballpark it (depending on the workout) probably around 500 cals. I found the Plyo burned much more.
