FitDay Activity-Calories Burned seem inaccurate.

I've noticed that FitDays calories burned estimates seem way low. I just did a 16 minute brisk walk (1/2 mile) and fitday says this is only 18 calories? I know this question has come up before, but has anyone got any word from FD regarding the accuracy of these estimates?

Depends on your weight but it does seem a low.

Enter a bodyweight on the weight tab... I bet that fixes it.

SIXTEEN minutes are you serious? Why would you even bother logging this?

go on hulu and watch "losing it with jillian michaels"

That wasn't nice or supportive.

Actually, Jillan Michaels says, "We start where we start." If that's 16 minutes, then it's 16 minutes. Keep it up, kimmel, and check the stats that you've entered. Good for you for joining FitDay and for making changes that will improve your health :).

Kimmel, that does seem low and I've noticed the same thing. The machines at the gym always give a much higher calorie burn than Fitday. So does my Nike Plus device on my iPod. Try the option for "Race Walking" on Fitday, if you walked very briskly and worked up a sweat, it will give you a more accurate result.

In any case, keep up the good work! Like cjohnson said, it's great that you are making changes to improve your health and fitness. Don't pay any attention to vic616283. Stay motivated and keep on going! Before you know it you will be walking a mile, then 2, and so on. :)

You can't really say it is a bad thing, is it? If they report your activity as being lower than it really is, it will make you push a little harder to reach your goal, which in turn is actually making you work over your goal and burning a few extra calories.
