On July 31, 2004, I weighed 160 lbs. By January 2005, I weighed 120 lbs. I lost 40 lbs on my eating plan! No gimmicks or tricks, it's cheap (you buy your own foods at the grocery store) and it works very well.

If anyone is interested in getting a copy let me know, I will share it with anyone. So far, out of the 3 friends who have tried it, one stuck to it and lost her baby weight in 4 months, the other started it but got pregnant and had to quit, and the 3rd is starting it now. My pregnant friend is going to start it as soon as she has her baby!
i would love a copy. i also just try to record my calories and workout here on fitday. it has worked for me before but this time, maybe because of my age, I seem to be off to a very slow start. My weight has ballooned up to 155 is I am in the range you were when you started and my dr would like to see me down to 140 -- when I suggested 130 she said a definite no!

Wow - Congrats! Is sounds like we may be in the same age bracket - I also got married in the mid 70's. You may want to check with your dr as mine has told me to lose weight and when she asked me how much I would like to lose she said no, that is too much and that was approx 10 - 15 pounds more then I weighed when I got married.

I have hit my late 40's and it doesn't come off like it used too. However I have found a fail proof method that not only lost me 20lb in 2 months but also detoxed me to the max and returned may energy of when I was 20. I have never felt so well. But it is extreme and so is the weight loss (you can expect 0.5lb a day) But so are the other results. Diabetics comes off their medication, I had my arthritis disappear, you sight improves (I kid you not) and so does your mental clarity.
After a while it is the ONLY way you want to eat. I know it all sounds like a hype but you can research this online. Also it the easiest diet ever to follow. Raw. That's it, eat raw, raw veg and raw fruit and nuts and seeds (Obviously not raw meat or dairy - just loose those all together.) Yup, it makes you a vegan. Me a vegan? - that came as a surprise because I had no intention of being a vegan. But the benefits can only be believed if you try it. Or you can read about other peoples experiences on loads of sites. Deffinately a diet for the impatient!
Oh but you absolutely must keep your calorie intake to over 1000 calories, which sometimes feels difficult because you have to eat so much. Also the amount of fat you take in through seeds and nuts is best limited. I keep mine under 10grams. So you can't do it without using Fitday everyday.

Steph, discovered the BEST diet I have ever eaten about five or six months ago. Not only does it result in WEIGHT LOSS, but also increased energy, a better blood lipid profile, less inflammation (and we all know what that does to our bodies...), as well as being a sustainable, delicious way to eat.

Plus, no calorie restriction. Try eating PALEO. Eat REAL foods. All types of meat (don't worry about saturated fat, there are hundreds of sources that prove that saturated fat and cholesterol are NOT the enemy,) eggs, healthy, natural fat sources (butter, ghee, tallow, coconut oil..), an abundance of vegetables, and compliment the diet with moderate amounts of low-sugar fruits, nuts, seeds and vices (dark chocolate or wine, anyone?)

The basics of the diet is LOW-CARB, where your body switches over to burning fat for fuel, either dietary or the stuff hanging on your body. Cut out grains (irritants for the gut,) pastas, cereals, cookies, crackers, legumes, and dairy for at least ONE WHOLE MONTH. Track your results and I BET you will find progress, and want to continue. Check my Fitday if you need inspiration. Good LUCK!

Marks Daily Apple... Explore this site on primal eating. It's fantastic!

Regarding the post above mine, it is VITAL that you get enough fat and protein...These are the two BUILDING BLOCKS of your body. If you just eat fruit and vegetables (carbs, which are non-essential for humans, and only necessary for storing fat when periods of starvation occur,) your body will not get the necessary FATTY ACIDS and AMINO ACIDS for muscle growth/maintanence, keeping you sane (ever gone on a low-fat diet?!), and regulating your bodily systems.

If you want to "detox", I would suggest INTERMITTENT FASTING. If the idea scares you, do a little research on the subject. Look up DR. EADES, he's a great MD that really advocates the concept of fasting. Once you have switched to low-carb and cut out all grains, it is presumably faster to go a day without eating. (And no, your metabolism will not slow down. This is a fallacy..You will realize this with a few good articles.)

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS IN PUBLIC FORUMS.

Spammers can easily "harvest" these and cause mischief for you.

As for the dietary topic: veteran low-carber here. It's a way of life. I've tried all kinds of "diets" and this one is the healthiest, simplest, and most effective for me for loss and maintenance. Atkins is a good start.
