These Vegetables and Fruits Are Great to Have in Juices

Juicing is a fantastic way of adding vegetables and fruits to your diet, but of course, not all vegetables and fruits and made equally, and there are some that are far more nutritious (and delicious) than others.

One of the best fruits to add your juices is apple. Not only are apples incredibly versatile and go well with most flavors, thus making a great base for juices, but they are also packed with antioxidants. According to All About Juicing, apples are able to boost the immune system and aid digestion.

If you’re looking for vegetables to blend that are low in calories, you should consider celery and kale, which according to Juicing Nation both contain high amounts of Vitamin K. In addition to Vitamin K, celery contains folate, potassium and Vitamins A and C, while kale is filled with minerals and is one of the most nutrient dense vegetables, playing a vital role in the prevention of cancer.

Strawberries are rich in antioxidants, and the third-best source of the antioxidant polyphenols, which can help to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease, Eating Well reports. The publication also notes that spinach is rich in Vitamin K, and Juicing Nation notes that if the thought of drinking spinach repulses you, don’t worry because it blends well with ginger, apples, and carrots. Plus, spinach contains Choline, which supports healthy brain function.

In fact, berries, in general, are good for juices because they are filled with antioxidants.

Carrots are another popular vegetable to blend, one of the reasons for this is because it goes well with other vegetables and fruits. One of the major benefits of carrots is that they contain beta-carotene, an antioxidant that can help with skin and eye health.

If you want a really great tasting juice, pineapples are perfect for this. They also contain bromelain, which helps the body digest protein, and have anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial properties, All About Juicing notes. The publication also notes that citrus fruits are good for juices as they are filled with Vitamin C, carotenoids and bioflavonoids. Plus, they taste great!

A parting note about juicing; never starve while on a juice diet and according to Fitness Blender, you should drink a juice whenever you feel you need it (around six times a day). But you should also drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and perhaps start by only swapping one meal a day with a juice instead of doing a complete detox.
