The Best Workout for Your Zodiac Sign

Wondering which workouts the stars suggest you should be doing?

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

If your sign is Aquarius, you’re independent and intelligent—but also love spending time with friends and being social. Try a kickboxing or water aerobics class to complement your astrological sign's personality traits, or venture out on your own for an outdoor jog and weightlifting session. Work each major body part (during resistance training) at least two times per week using weights or resistance bands.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)

You’re compassionate and artistic if you’re a Pisces, so enhance those qualities with a yoga workout in the park, a long bike ride through scenic paths, an outdoor Pilates class, or a creative resistance training session using your own body weight. If you do choose continuous cardiovascular workouts indoors (such as biking or using an elliptical machine), turn on a stimulating television show to get your creative juices flowing.

Aries (March 21 - April 19)

If you’re an Aries you’re courageous and ready to take on high-intensity sweat sessions. Try high-intensity interval training (HIIT), or taking on a rock climbing adventure. Want to start training for a half marathon? You have the strength and perseverance to get it done. Your strength training sessions can focus on boosting muscle mass (if that’s your goal)—be sure to train each major muscle group at least two times per week. Include core workouts (burpees and plank exercises, for example) into your daily routine.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

You’re reliable and dependable, hitting the gym (or at-home workouts) on a regular basis. Choose a reliable workout to match your personality—something that’s consistent like CrossFit or regular runs. Schedule regular weightlifting sessions to meet your body’s needs and get tight and toned fast. For example, make Monday and Thursday leg days, Tuesday back and shoulder day, and Friday chest and arm day. Work your abs most days of the week.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

Fun loving and free-spirited is likely your personality if you’re a Gemini, so choose your workouts accordingly. Change up your routine regularly to prevent boredom from setting in. Vary the fitness classes you choose daily (pick yoga, kickboxing, water aerobics, Zumba, CrossFit, etc.)—or try a variety of different workout videos at home. Go for a walk or bike ride with friends when you're in the mood to socialize, or choose something adventurous like whitewater rafting or rollerblading through the city.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

You’re trustworthy and compassionate and can handle just about any workout routine you set out to complete. Try longer cardio sessions (marathon training, cycling, or power walking sessions) that give you some peace and quiet and time to yourself. You also enjoy working out in small groups, as relationships and spending time with family and friends is important to you. Recruit the whole family for a bike ride, train with friends for a race, or find a weightlifting partner (or get a trainer) to stay tight and toned and keep you motivated. Boot camp classes with friends may also be your cup of tea.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)

You’re full of energy and ready to take on the challenge of even the most strenuous sweat sessions. You often love working out in groups but are content working out alone too. You’re not afraid to join a CrossFit class (and you have the energy to do so), a HIIT class, or train for obstacle races (like the Tough Mudder run). You enjoy using your own body weight for resistance workouts (like pushups, pull-ups and jump squats) to keep you slim and trim.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

Intelligence is one of your main strengths if you’re a Virgo, so put your mind to good use—even during sweat sessions. Hop on a cardio machine and watch mind-stimulating television shows, read a good book, or listen to a book on tape to keep your intellectual juices flowing. Come up with creative ways to strength train by using resistance bands, resistance balls, kettlebells, or simply your own body weight.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)

Charming and diplomatic are traits that define you if you're a Libra. You’re easy going and just about any form of exercise makes you happy. You love social workouts (fitness classes, running buddies, and hitting social gyms)—and other people enjoy working out with you (and your charming, motivating personality). But, you’re also content exercising alone (especially outdoors) and doing your own thing. Try weight training with dumbbells at home on days you don’t have time to hit the gym.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)

You’re focused, sensitive, passionate and resourceful—which comes in handy when you want to work out while traveling or when you don’t have access to gym equipment. You’re a perfect candidate for race training (with or without a workout partner), but you’re motivated enough to complete long cardio sessions just to stay in shape and be healthy. Change it up regularly so you don’t get stuck in a rut. Swim one day, rollerblade another, hop on the elliptical machine or try a fitness class. HIIT workout videos or classes will get you results if being tight and toned is what you’re seeking. Don’t forget to resistance train at least every other day.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

People love you because of your generous and wise personality —and excellent sense of humor. You're always up for an adventure—which is why hiking in the mountains, kayaking, cycle racing, or completing ultra marathons might be up your alley. You’re happy training indoors for adventurous workouts, but being outside really gets your blood pumping. Use your own body weight for resistance (sit-ups, pushups, plank exercises, lunges, and squats) when you’re exercising outdoors.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

You’re disciplined, responsible, patient and reliable—and you rarely miss workouts. You train diligently at the gym, and dietary self-control diet plus regular weightlifting sessions are why people love your physique. You have what it takes to train for fitness competitions, and your discipline and patience means you’ll complete even the most monotonous gym cardio sessions. Change things up a bit to get in an outdoor cardiovascular workout (jog or bike outside, for example)—or try a group cycling class. Resistance train five to six days weekly, and work out a different muscle group during each sweat session.
