The Best Fitness Gear Under $50

There are so many options for inexpensive fitness gear. Before you buy, check out some of these options and figure out what will work best for you.

The fitness industry has grown by leaps and bounds over the last decade or two. And with this growth comes new methods of training, as well as new equipment to train with. For the big stuff like cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights, bars and all the fun attachments, the gym is your answer. But for smaller equipment that you can take anywhere or easily store and use at home, here are some fantastic options that won't break the bank.

Resistance Bands

Resistance bands have come a long way. You can still buy the big rolls of it, cutting it to the length you need — but it's not necessary or even that appealing. You can but bands one at a time, or invest a bit more and get a kit. These kits come with bands of different resistance levels, plus various attachments and handles. You can also purchase them for well under $50 and you are able to work your entire body. The variety is endless when it comes to bands, so figure out which exercises you'd like to do, then purchase the appropriate bands. You'll be able to buy a lot of them for this amount of money.

Suspension Trainers

You may not be able to buy the brand name TRX suspension system, but there are other ones available that will give you a great workout. Suspension trainers allow you to work your upper body, core, and even lower body to get a great workout. But before you run out to buy one of these, make sure that you have a secure place to attach the trainer.

Adjustable Dumbbells

You can get lighter dumbbells and adjustable sets that go up to 20 or 25 pounds each for under $50. If you need or want heavier dumbbells, you'll need to spend some more or hit the gym. But, like the equipment listed above, dumbbells offer a lot of variety for the money you spend. Plus, an adjustable set does not take up a lot of room.

Medicine Balls and Kettlebells

Just like the dumbbells, the heavier you go the more expensive they get. However, medicine balls and kettlebells can be used for resistance work as well as cardiovascular exercise. Plus, they're just fun to incorporate into your routine.
