Where Is the Best Spot to Workout in Your Studio?

When it comes to your Yoga, Pilates, dance, barre, or martial arts workout, it's all about location, location, location! It may sound silly, but having the right spot can make your workout all the more awesome. But knowing where that "right spot" is isn't the same for everyone.

Here are a few options for the best spot in the studio:

By the walls -- When practicing Yoga, it's often hard to hold the more difficult balance poses. If you are working out near a wall, you will have the option of leaning for a second to keep your balance. You may have limited space for other exercises, but you'll definitely have an easier time maintaining proper posture when you can reach out and use the wall to center yourself. The same goes for ballet and martial arts training.

At the front of the class -- If you don't mind the attention (and the envy) of those behind you, it's always a good idea to train at the front of the class. That way, the instructor will see your form and movements, and will be able to offer advice on how to improve. For those serious about making progress in their training, it's always best to work out at the head of the class.

At the rear of the class -- If you're not a fan of all eyes being on you, you may want to choose to work out at the rear of the room. You may already be an old hand at the workouts, so you don't need the instructor to correct your form. The more experienced you are, the better it is to be at the rear of the room.

By the lockers -- If you are expecting important texts or calls while you train, you want to stay close to your lockers. Your phone should absolutely be turned off or set to vibrate, and you'll need to be near the phone to hear it buzz. If you're working out close to the lockers, you'll be able to receive that text or message without interrupting the class.

By the window -- When it comes down to it, there is no more beautiful spot in the studio than by the window. Not only do you get all the wonderful sunlight, but you may even be able to enjoy a gentle breeze and a view of the world outside. It will help you to relax and focus when you have a view of the trees, gardens, parks, and people outside the studio. Of course, this may distract some people, so only work out by the window if it helps to enhance your training!

By the door -- If you want to be the last one in and the first one out, this is definitely the spot for you! For those who have very little time to spare (such as when working out during your lunch break), a spot right by the door will enable you to slip in and out of the class with as little fuss and muss as possible.

Choose the right spot, and your workout can be far more effective and enjoyable!
