All the Ways Camping Is Good for Your Health

If you’re thinking about going away on a trip, maybe instead of staying in a fancy hotel you should instead consider spending some time in the great outdoors. While it’s not as glamorous and takes more preparation and skills than simply searching for a hotel, camping can be far more rewarding.

Not only is it a fun activity to do either alone or with friends, but there are also health benefits involved. Below are some reasons that will make you ditch the hotels in favor of a few days in nature.

Good quality air: This is probably the most obvious point of all, but the air in an unpopulated area is much fresher than in the city. The trees and vegetation make for high production of oxygen, and this is not only good for your health but also your happiness because according to RVCOutdoors, the increase of oxygen releases serotonin in your brain.

Sunshine: But you won’t just be breathing in a better quality of air, you’ll also be experiencing the sunshine, which means you’ll be getting a source of Vitamin D.

Exercise: The fantastic thing about camping is that your campsite will usually be close to great walking or hiking trails, or you could get out on the water and go paddling or swimming. Whatever you end up doing, camping usually makes you more adventurous and therefore more active.

You bid farewell to technology: It’s great for your mind to unplug from technology and just relax and unwind. Stop worrying about work, stop worrying about who liked your Instagram post, and get some fresh air and a good night’s sleep.

You will have time to think (and de-stress): This point is closely linked to the above point because being able to turn off from the drone of everyday life is great for your wellbeing. It will allow you to de-stress, and clear your mind of negative thoughts.

Spend quality time with others: While camping can be done alone, and if you need time to really think then this may be preferable, but if you’re going with family or friends it’s a great way to spend some quality time together without the distractions from technology and the outside world.

We have already covered how camping can improve your mood, reduce your stress levels and therefore will ensure you get a great night of restful sleep, but something else that you may not realize is that there is less social pressure involved with camping. What do I mean by this? Well, you’re at one with nature, so you won’t feel as though you have to constantly look your best, wear on-trend clothing or a full face of makeup every day, and rather just enjoy yourself without worrying about who is watching.
