I just posted to an Insanity thread in the diets forum, before seeing this topic.
I recently got some of the Insanity DVDs from a friend, and have tried a few of the workouts. My question for those who have done this program, and weren't hardcore cardio freaks before starting: how did you adapt to the workouts initially? I find I'm barely able to make it through a warmup without breaks, and I almost feel like I'm spending more time resting/catching my breath than actually exercising during the workout.
I've never been a cardio person: used to work out with weights almost exclusively, and had the naturally fast metabolism until injuries & surgeries kept me away from the weights. Now, at 37, and 20+ lbs heavy, I need to both lose weight and start working against some bad genetics heart-wise.
I'm curious how difficult the workouts were for you at the start (I feel like I'm getting maybe 30, 35% of the total reps/intensity/endurance compared to what's on tape--most of the time, my jaw is on the floor, amazed that those machines on screen look so human...), how long it took you to adapt, if you made any changes or eased into it slowly... thanks for any tips or advice you might be able to share.
