Come one, come all, it's another Friday and another weigh-in day. :)
I'm going to propose something NEW - or, rather, something Ken (snafuken) had implicitly suggested... How about we keep this thread and just update it once a week (like the Challenge threads work), as opposed to doing a new thread every week? I think that would make this way easier. Unless there's a lot of dissension in the ranks, I think we should give it a go. This is extremely motivating! I first joined Fitday when it was new in 2004, I think. It was to keep track of my nutrition more than lose weight, although I did lose weight. I gained weight and tried to jump back in 2009 but didn't stay with it. Now, I started trying to lose weight a month ago and I'm back on Fitday until I reach my goal weight. Start weight: 149 Sept 20, 2011 Current weight 140 October 15, 2011 Goal weight: 125 by December 15, 2011. |

hey everyone it's been awhile.
i feel like i've lost complete motivation, it doesn't help that the weather is now cold an rainy all the time now. well it's not like i don't want to lose weight or anything.
my motivation is just really low right now. my fiance has been complaining that i've been gettin worse in my sleep, that i'm snoring alot now and i'm more fiddgity in bed and when i was around 206 i wasnt that bad. i find it hard to get motivation for myself and from my fiance and it's hard from you guys online snice i don't know anyone in person here. i was feeling great when i lost some weight before, i had more engery and stuff but my motivation is just so shot i want to cry |
Oh, Yunalee, I can just about hear the sadness in your post. This can be a really tough road, and although there are times where it's a bit easier, there are plenty of uphill climbs (sometimes it even seems like it's all uphill). Know that even though we may exist in the oblivion that is the internet, there are plenty of people here who feel for you and are fighting the same battle.
Well, you know I always have some advice for you, so here it is. :) Can you try to turn that frustration and self-hatred, both of which take SO much energy, into motivation? When I was starting and full of self-hatred, and was beyond angry at myself, I would stop my inner dialogue and tell myself, "Do you want to be fat? Do you want to feel this way? Do you like wasting this energy on making yourself feel worse? No? Then get over yourself and do something about it." I realize this may sound "harsh" to some, but I am very much a pragmatic and no-BS type of person, and I find the "stop and get over it" approach to be successful. One other thing that can help is to remember what motivation is, and what it isn't. Motivation is finding a way to do something that we don't especially want to do at that moment (eg, exercising or eating a carrot instead of cake). Motivation is NOT necessarily wanting to exercise or eat right all the time, it's finding your way past obstacles (including the ones we create) and doing it anyway. Most of us don't need motivation to do the things we really want to. With that said, I know you really want to lose weight - but remember that it's all those little moments and little decisions that will get you to that goal. Even the strongest of us will struggle with those decisions (eg, carrot vs. cake) even though the carrot will get us to our goal and the cake (in excess) will not. I hope that helps even a little bit. I'm so glad you are here and still checking in - you may not realize it, but that in itself is a huge accomplishment. Let us know how we can help. can I join?
I started my weight loss on August 21 and found this website and started keeping track of everything I ate. What an eyeopener. I started reading food labels so I could customize some foods and i just threw away some really high fat snack foods (that I loved). I was scared taht I might be pre-diabetic so my main motivation is to become healthier. Then my son got engaged and is getting married next June, so there's my deadline:o. I was weighing everyday and getting frustrated, so I started weighing only on Fridays. So here I am.

There was not a forum so I am glad to see there is one now and I would like to do Friday weigh ins with you all.:) Here is my story I was diagnoised with liver failure due to autoimmune disease related cirrohis in June. And will have to have a liver transplant in the future as liver that was destroyed is beyond repair, Husband took me out to the ER and I was in a coma state for 5 days and within a week had 80 lbs of fluid build up within me. They drained the water off over the next month by doing several p-tap procedures. So now 3 1/2 months later I am 80 lbs (fluid build up) and 47 lbs lighter.:D They have put me on a low-low sodium /low sugar/low fat/ veggie-dairy protein drink diet:( Hardest diet I have ever had to do but of course this is a lifestyle change and will have to be on it for life. So now I must EAT to LIVE not LIVE to EAT. I weigh 183.2 lbs as of this morning and want to get down to 140 lbs Thanks for listening sorry for the ranting:o but would love to join in. Hey guys it's that time of the week again. i feel alot better this week than the last.

I'm having a hard time getting myself going... I lost 12 pound in 3 weeks and then have been pretty stagnant since then. I haven't been exercising nearly as much and it really shows on the scale. Why is it so hard to get to the gym? I certainly have the time, and I like it when I'm done. It's just getting there... I need a work-out buddy!

Hey, good people, I'm skipping the weigh-in this week (TTOM), but wanted to show my (online) face and wish you all congrats and encouragement!
Glad to hear the new program is working for you, Yunalee -sounds like it's giving you an awesome kickstart. Congrats and welcome to Vickey, as well. Welcome to Jane, and remember to just keep trying. It can be tough to get ourselves to work out - the hardest part for many of us is just in starting. Also, sounds like your body may be "evening out" in terms of weight loss - 12# in 3 weeks is awesome, but not typically a maintainable rate of loss for the long run. Keep at it, and you'll see a loss soon, although it may be more in the 1-2#/week range. Not sure if I mentioned this before, but a couple of weeks ago, I (finally) realized that the burning, uncomfortable feeling in my thigh meant tendonitis in my quad. So... my usual intensity of exercise is out of the question for a good bit (another month before I can slowly add it back in), and it sucks. :( I'm having a hard time convincing myself to do mild exercise, because I don't really like mild exercise. :/ But now I'm not even doing anything. I have to come up with a new routine that barely involves lower body, is waaaaay low-impact, and doesn't bore me to death. Bah. Hopefully I'll come up with something and actually do it this upcoming week. I tried doing the Wii, since that's how I started exercising to begin with, but it bored me. :/ Lol, ok, enough whining, have a lovely week, all. |

Hi everyone it has been 5 months since i have been here but i was a constant on the Friday weigh in gang before.
My quick story for all those who don't know me is that i started at 302 lbs and then lost 100lbs in one year. Over the course of the next 7 months i went up slowly 12 lbs. I had lost all motivation. I quit logging on in May and over summer i had put on another 15 lbs. So right now i am at a 77lb weight loss and i am super motivated again!!! your not the only one that had a tough time over the summer. i weighed my heaviest last week. but then i join the herbal magic program because i knew i wasn't getting the motivation to do it on my own anymore. it's expensive and it'll take 2 years to do, but if it gets me down to my ultimate goal that i knew i probably couldn't do on my own anyway. it'll be so worth it

Thank you :) My summer wasn't hard on me, i had just gotten to the point where i needed to step back. From December to May i had put on a dozen pounds and couldn't eat well ( to lose weight) more than 2 days in a row.
I just got to the point after a year and a half of eating that way to step back and live life. So for summer i ate everything and larger portions but all really healthy food, no fast food, once a month restaurant food. I knew when my size 36 pants were very tight it was time to change.... and here i am! I started three weeks ago and now i am down 5 pounds and my mind and focus are a thing of beauty... i feel so connected again to where i am going. |

Yeah definitely want to get back to 100 lbs lost, i can't believe i made it there and let it slip away! Oh well nothing like a good challenge again!!
Its funny how not paying attention to food and portion sizes can kill. A year and a half ago we would go to Subway and i would order a turkey salad and bowl of soup for a dinner when i was losing weight. Then i switched and just had a turkey sub which i thought added 300 calories. By this year if i went after work i would order 1 1/2 subs, soup and coffee. When i started again 2 weeks ago that was the first food i checked out and was shocked to see i was eating 1000 calories!!! |

I had a good week, just not great results. I was late yesterday for work so i skipped breakfast and didn't like any choices for lunch. By the time i got home i ate lots of good healthy food but a large amount of it.
