I'm a 42 year-old mother of two. I'm almost 5'3" and 152 pounds. This is the heaviest I've ever been except for when I was 9.5 months pregnant with my first child, and could barely move at 164.

My goal is to lose 30 pounds and to get a lot more fit. I tried to run to get out of the rain, and discovered I couldn't even run a few yards without getting completely winded and feeling like my feet were 10-ton weight slamming into the ground. I'm sitting here right now, aware of how heavy I feel in my chair, and the rolls of fat on my back and around my middle. Aside from how unattractive it is, it's physically very uncomfortable. I finally got the courage to measure my waist for the first time in over a year, and it's 36 inches around the smallest bit (which isn't where a waistband would sit.)

I'm looking forward to being able to wear something other than my husband's pants. Last year I wanted to buy some clothes, so I looked at a size chart to see what size to order. I discovered that I was like a 12 around the hips but a 20 around the waist. So, hopefully after I lose this weight, I'll be able to fit an actual size! (That's not a guarantee, since my skin never bounced back after my c-section, but we'll see.)

Sorry for being so long-winded. Nice to be here!

Talking A long way to go ....

I have been working on losing weight for the last 3 week.
I have lost 3.5 lbs so far. I am down to 181.5 lbs.
I'm 5ft 1in and need to get down to 130 lbs. I have set a goal for this time next year.

I just joined this site today... I am very excited about my progress so far.

1-2 lbs a week is a good rate for sustainable loss, so sounds like you're on the right track. Welcome to the club!

I just recently discovered FitDay googling for calorie counters. The one on this site is really helpful,
so I bookmarked it.

I recently started my weight loss journey a little over 3 weeks ago. My starting weight was 263.0
and my current weight is 252.4. My goal is 180, so I have a ways to go. I am 5' 9" tall.

I count calories and grams of protein. If I don't get enough protein I have uncontrollable food cravings.
One other important thing I'm doing is abstaining from alcohol.

Best wishes to everyone.

I joined fitday on the last day of december last year. I just now realised there were forums! lol

For the past 3 years I have been going in and out of my Dr's telling him that I couldn't understand why I couldn't loose weight and started gaining. He did a barrage of lab tests only to reveal nothing. I really thought I wasn't eating that bad until I started writing down everything on this site. I didn't realise how much I was sabotaging myself by eating that spoonful of ice cream or that last cookie in the bag etc.... I started my "lifestyle change" on January 1st when I got on the scale and saw that I was tipping it at 218lbs! I'd never been that big unless 8months pg with my HUGE boy. I began by making myself small goal in short terms. This way I wouldn't be so discouraged. Today I am finally below 200lbs!!! I have more energy and I feel great! I have 5 children so I need to be able to keep up with them and with more progress it will get easier every day! I'm so glad to have found this site

I joined about a week and a half ago. My starting weight was 91kg and my first goal is 65kg, i may decide to go lower when i get to 65kg, but i don't really know what it feels like, so we'll see. I started eating healthier on the 25th Feb and i've lost 2kg already and i've been eating really well I'm very excited about this. I've tried to lose weight SO many times but something feels really different this time. I can't remember EVER eating this well.

I'm female and 19 from Aus btw

And i am doing the Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle program by Tom Venuto
