In need of advice on diets

Hi and thanks for taking the time to help me out. Im a 51 yr old male and new to dieting. Im appx 40lbs over weight and want it off!! Working out now for three weeks 6-7 days a week and I have been eating 1500 calories a day. I have been tracking everything using the fitday program and the chart shows ive been eating appx 45% carbs, 35% protein and 20% fat. What do u think, is that about right or should I adjust foods around?
Thanks for the help

Hey snow, sounds like you have things right on track! I hope you keep up the good work. How much have you lost so far? I am close to your age and find that losing weight is not as easy as it used to be. My consolation for the slow weight loss, is that I am feeding my body nutricious food all the time, and that has got to be good for a person!

Hi Kathie
Thanks for the quick response. So far I have lost 13lbs in three weeks but im thinkin it will slow down soon to 2 to 3 pounds a week. The thing I am really liking is the new friends Im meeting at the gym are very nice. Sure makes it easier to go in every day.
Have a nice evening

Only tip I would suggest is keep the variety. Boredom is like the plague for dieting. Make sure you don't get bored with your food.

Wow - 13 pounds in 3 weeks is really good. I am a couple years older then you and have only lost about 6 pounds since the beginning of the year. I am also at the gym almost every day. However, even though I am not losing, my clothes tell me I am firming up and I am back into clothes that were too tight at the beginning of the year. So don't always depend on the scale. I would suggest that if you plateau you try zigzagging that everyone is raving about on this site. I personally haven't done it but from what I have read here, it is a great tool! Good luck:)

Snow - no problem - just keep at it. After losing so slowly at the beginning, this week for some reason, down 4 pounds - so no matter what, if you know you are doing all the right things, just keep at it even when you don't think things are happening - they are - just not at the speed we all want them to :)
