I started out reading this whole thread.. got to page 20 and realized i have been sitting here for 2 hours just reading haha.
I would like to be part of this group! I have 110 pounds to lose. It may be a little high for my height but as of right now that the goal I have set. I struggle to stay accountable and this is something I really want so I will post here everyday even if I just write one sentence.
This afternoon has been rainy and nasty so I plan on going for jog/walk tonight when the rain is suppose to clear.
I look forward to becoming good friends with everyone here and helping each other meet our goals.
Karen.

Hello all. I am 5'1", and I currently weigh 229 lbs. No matter how many times I say that, it never stops startling me. I would like to get into the neighborhood of 125 lbs, so about 104 lbs to go.
I am very glad to not feel alone in this. So many times I have been advised to look into bariatric surgery, but I do not believe it is a good choice for me. For one thing, I don't have any comorbidities, so I would have trouble getting insurance to pay for it. I also know that surgery won't fix the reasons that I overeat. I don't eat what I do out of hunger, it's out of boredom, or emotions, or just because it's there and it tastes good.
What I really hate is when people say to me "Wow, that's going to be really hard." I know it's hard, do I really need to be reminded?

Well, last night, to celebrate my 55th birthday, I fell off the wagon, got run over by it, stood up and got hit by the food bus.
Here is what happened (this is like food porn coming up, you may want to clear the Kids from the room. Just Kidding):
Last night gateway community college had a dinner as part of their culinary program.
Here is what we got for our 21.50 no tipping
Cauliflower Leek Soup served with HOT home made French Bread and real butter. - This was wonderful, the only thing missing was fresh ground pepper, I hate that pre-ground Stuff.
Wine: 2008 Marc Bredif Vouvray - This was really good, even Joann, not a wine fan loved it.
Seared Sea Scallops on baby spinach with Calvados Apple Brandy cream sauce served with duchess potatoes and baby carrots - The Scallops and spinach was perfect, the sauce was sweet and light. Joann is not a big cooked carrot fan so I got hers!
Dandelion/Mesclun Greens Salad with Shallot Vinaigrette and Bacon/Egg - I haven't had bacon in three months! This was like a slice of heaven, the greens were actually sweet, not bitter as I have come to expect from Dandelion.
Wine: 2008 Grand Breviande Chinon - Another outstanding choice, Joann doesn't do red wine at all so I got hers too, this was no time to try and convince her to try it. I was afraid she was going to have a sip which would have been the end of my extra glass of wine.
Cheese: Pont L'Eveque, Livarot and Mimolette Served with grapes and Walnuts. - Fantastic, Joann doesn't do stinky cheeses either, so they went into a take out box and became my lunch today. I like going to dinner with Joann.
Caramelized Apple Crepes with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
Coffee
Well, for 21.50 each we sure got our money's worth. I have no idea how to enter these things into fit day so I just created a custom food, gave myself a 2500 calorie score (who knows) and started back into good eating habits today. BUT it sure felt good to know that I am now so under control that a meal like this WILL NOT cause me to slide back into my old destructive ways.

I took a little motorcycle ride through Upstate NY back when I was 18 or so--Albany, Lake Placid, etc. really beautiful.
Anyway, it sounds like you're off to a great start. If there's anything we can do to help, just say the word.
Regards,
Michael

Nothing wrong with a nice day off every once in a while. In fact, I think it is a good idea to PLAN not to be "perfect". I think you've got a good grip on being able to get right back on your "normal" eating plan--congrats!

Im posting today because I am having a really hard time. My boyfriend of three and a half years and I just broke up. I know this is probably, in some peoples opinion, not the place to post this but I have no where else. I need the support from my "family" here. I really feel like making some bad decisions and emotionally eating right now. I wanted to write something just to keep my mind off of it. It really came as a shock because we have such a good relationship. I guess things happen for a reason.
Im gonna do my best over the next few days to make good choices, but dont be surprised if I add another 100 posts to this thread in the mean time.

Karen, dealing with emotions like this are a real problem. I am reeling from the breakup of a friendship which I felt was for life. Keep trying to do everything to make the most of yourself and realize that anyone who turns their back on a true friendship is a fool. We are not fools.
We can do this.
